Arsenal rumours July 24th – Jagielka, Samba, Campbell, Mata and Javi Martinez
As usual on a Sunday morning there is a lot of Arsenal transfer news in the British tabloids, but how much of it is believable is a matter of conjecture. After the news last week that Arsenal had made a derisory £10m bid for Everton’s Phil Jagielka, the Star reckons that Wenger will go back with an improved offer, but they also say that it will have to be at least £17m to persuade David Moyes to sell him. If Wenger doesn’t want to pay that much for Cahill is he likely to pay it for the smaller, older Jagielka?
The same paper reckons that Blackburn have now upped their price for Chris Samba to a massive £15m after interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham, and they are bascally saying hands-off to both clubs. But personally I’d rather pay that price for Samba than for Jagielka……
The Costa Rican youngster Joel Campbell has turned down an offer from Arsenal, and his agent is saying that he will try and keep the offer open, but he also says that Fiorentina have made a counter-offer. He said: “I will do my best to give Joel other opportunities. I will continue working to see if there is any chance of re-opening negotiations.
“There is also an offer from Fiorentina for Campbell. Joel is aware of the offer and is discussing it with his family. It is a good deal, both from a sporting and economical perspective.”
Economical perspective? Does that mean they have offered more money……
Over to Mata, who is definitely a live Arsenal transfer rumour as far as I’m concerned, and I think that Wenger may be seeing if he can bring him in before allowing one of our “rebels” to leave. It is being reported that Inter Milan have tabled a bid of £15m, but will be outgunned by Arsenal who are prepared to offer up to £20m. But without knowing exactly what’s happening with Sami and Cesc we can’t really make an educated guess on whether this one will happen or not….
Another possible “Fabregas replacement” being linked with Arsenal is the Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javier ‘Javi’ Martinez. This 22 year-old was made captain of the Spain U21s recently and also was part of the World Cup winning squad last summer, so he is obviously extremely talented.
Bilbao are not going to give him up without a fight and it seems that it will take a bid of at least £16m to prise him away from La Liga. With his age and skill level, he may be a perfect replacement for Cesc, but again, we still have to see how the Barcelona negotiations pan out first….
And just as an aside regarding Wenger’s announcement that he is still looking for another defender, I just have to mention that Sol Campbell is back training at Arsenal again. Surely Wenger wouldn’t bring him back to make up the numbers…..

If Wenger signs Sol Campbell which is very unlikely!! Then he has seriously lost it and don´t get me wrong I am still behind Wenger and trust that he needs to do the right things for the team and the fans as well this year!!
But several “old” arsenal players returns to the club to get there fitness back so lets hope it stays there.

The problem is that it is all talk and no visible action. This is why we can’t know what exactly Wenger wants to do. However, if it’s signing a player to replace Fabregas, Javi Martinez would do a great deal. He’s in the mould of Xabi Alonso. He can defend as well as attack, and so would do well to help Song, and the two would form a formidable partnership, giving the rest the license to go forward, other than a player like Mata or Carzola, who cannot help the team when without possession. As for the defense, let’s leave the choice to the manager. If he decides to buy Jagielka, it would be that he may have identified certain qualities in him that Cahill doesn’t have. It could even be that he wants a more experienced head in Jagielka, to help bring through the likes of Bartley & Miquel alongside the existing defenders whom he is much older, other than Cahill who is just as old. It’s up to the manager.

Money doesn’t grow on trees guys and all these players being linked cost money. Plus most of you don’t even know squat about these players except for youtube highlights and all of a sudden you like them. There’s no way they’ll be buying central midfielders this transfer market except for backup or depth. And these players are starters on their respective teams so they’ll except the same here. Plus if you’ve seen the way jack and ramsey are playing together with song, all three switching positions at different times during the course of the game you won’t suggest they buy new “HIGH PROFILE PLAYERS” Arsenal have played their best this preseason when those the are on the field. If any of those three don’t get enough playing time, you’d be the same people that come on crying about why isn’t he playing this guy or that guy.
IF YOU WANT NEW PLAYERS ON THE TEAM, GO BUY THEM ON FIFA MANAGEMENT AND PLAY WITH THEM BECAUSE THEN ALL YOUR DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.

For my opinion…the best way is ready to eliminated for the next season…No more Arsenal. its a good idea..
Why i say that…because untill now we just talking about who will come to Arsenal..We close to August but still no new faces.Only Gervinho..Thats not enough. We need 3 or 4 experianced player. Then we can challege MU,MC,CH,LI and TH.
u must think it positive,Wenger. Look the previous year, what happened to Arsenal. We can’t depend only on younger player. Ya true they are talented but they need support from experianced player. Dont just looking for the youngster player,because there’s no one become the best player under Arsenal..So pls dont just making some funny. be a serious. You must bring some player to win a tropy. If not we’ll be leave far a way by the other team. Here’s my suggestion player to strenghten Arsenal. L.Baines, E.Hazard,Juan Mata,P.Methesacker and Wesley Sneider. And let C.Fab go to Barcelona. Javi Martinez is nothing like Cesc. He is much bigger and more imposing. He is a good passer, but not even close to Cesc’s ability. He would be suited to the holding role. At best, as a box to box midfielder. Definitely not a creative hub, playmaker.

Wenger said something amazing in an interview once which just made me clock. Ruffly…”If you buy a player then you push one out” which is true. If we buy mata then Ramsey will just be a sub all is career and decide to leave. When between mata and ramsey. Ramsey will be better all day. He’s grown up in the squad and trains day in day out. Also there’s a financial advantage. Aswell as loyalty. Anyone agree??? Gervinho is a top signing. Just buy a good CB and some more youth. Sell Cesc.

I agree with various comments saying Wilshire is the man to replace Cesc. I feel he s waisted playing to deep, he des a good job but has so much more to offer as an attacking threat. Let Jack play more forward and then bring in a guy like De Rossi, an action man type box to box player who is hard can tackle, pass and score goals from deep. i would keep same formation but feel Wenger needs to change it during some games.

I hate Wenger when he makes a sub but does not change tactics. He brings bendtner on for Walcot on the right wing surley its best to have a right winger on the right wing. If you need to change, change formation and chuck 2 upfront.
As for defece needs work and changeswe all know that. i just think Nasri and fab out mata and De Rossi to replace adding pace on left wing and steel in midfield and then getting more out of jack

Javi Martinez would be great, looks like a box to box player like De Rossi would add more physical presence in midfield with style of play and size 6ft 3 in the middle of the park. This would then help us when defending set pieces.

I spend half my day reading every damn thing on the web to just see one thing- Arsenal sign a quality defender and a left back. It is there for everyone to see that we are poor in those departments. We could do well with a holding mid fielder as well but then i cant expect so much, so please please please buy a center back now and a left back as well please, we cant start on the back foot even before the start of the season.

I think that Arsenal are going to have a good season. Jagielka, who is an exellent player and better than clichy will replace the frnchman no doubt. the argentinian and cambell look good to come in to the squad and also a few other players should cme in like: chelsas alex arsenal wre nterested in him. so i hopw well be good but…..
