Arsenal rumours June 27th – Eriksen, Kjaer, Balotelli, Eduardo and Micah Richards
With the World Cup in full swing and everyone concentrating on the massive England v Germany game this afternoon, the Sunday papers seem to be struggling for stories. All the Arsenal transfer rumours seem to be old ones rehashed to fill space between the England stories!
First of all we have the Ajax youngster Christian Eriksen. The young Danish international came on as a sub when his country was knocked out by Japan the other day, and the News of the World says that Wenger was impressed enough to maybe make a new bid for the lad that was recommended by Dennis Bergkamp. This is definitely old news, and the link with Arsenal was broken when Eriksen signed a new four-year contract with Ajax last month, but that hasn’t stopped the NOTW! I think that one can be ignored…..
CaughtOffside have Wenger ready to bid for the Serie A pair, Simon Kjaer and Mario Balotelli. Arsenal have already been linked to these two, but it is extremely unlikely that Wenger would buy the wayward Balotelli even if Arsenal needed a striker. Just yesterday the Inter boss Massimo Moratti was talking about possible transfers and said: “Balotelli is our future and Milito won’t move,” so that is another unlikely one…
Kjaer is a hot prospect and the rumours have been saying that Palermo are willing to let him go (at the right price of course). Most papers have been reporting that Man Utd are the most likely bidders, with Tottenham and Man City also showing an interest. He is a young and talented defender, so I could certainly see Wenger being interested in him, but I can’t see him coming cheaply……
Poor old Eduardo looks to be on his way out, according to the Mail, and with Chamakh’s arrival at the Emirates, the Croatian was always going to be relegated to fourth or fifth choice striker. I suppose it is inevitable he will have to leave if he wants first team football, but I can’t see a big club wanting him as he has been out of form for too long now……
The last bit of Arsenal gossip relates to the Man City defender Micah Richards, this is also a pretty old rumour but he does have the makings of a typical Wenger signing. His is only 22 but has loads of Premiership experience. He probably needs a change of scenery to improve on his recent form and Wenger could get the best out of him. And the price quoted is just £9m. That seems very reasonable considering Arsenal’s desperate need for defenders….

agree with u matt… ive got most of the papers and this site is just informing us what is in the papers today..
fingers crossed on richards.. he’s an arsenal fan and think he’d play his socks off for the team he’s loved as a kid!
plus he can play right back as well as cb..
Also in papers its says we should be getting schwarzer with rob green going to fulham.. dont know what other people think but the slovenia gk would be a good shout.. buffon said he’s the best gk playing in italian football (aside from himself)..

i think kjaer is a quality player but it’s not like wenger to enter a bidding war will 3 other big clubs (it would probably raise his fee to above what he’s actually worth). Eriksen is a good player but has just signed a 4 year deal, so it’s unlikely. we may get him at a later date though

why on earth would you want to loose a quality player like denilson??? trust me that kid will light this next season up he’s got great ability he’s been breaking into the first team since he was 18!!
As for these rumours kjaer and richards would both be quality signings richards especially for me i see a young sol cambell in making right there i feel he’d be a perfect addition to the squad. Oh and to the admin “poor old eduardo”

What about Hines and Carroll..? 2 great english strikers that will probably break into the senior squad next year. Both are also expected to have a great season in 2010/2011. Selling Bentdner, Eduardo and Vela will allow room for the english stars of tomorrow. Would be great for england if these players can improve their attacking abilities at Arsenal.
