There are quite a few Arsenal rumours building up in the media at the moment, but there seems to be very little about M’Vila which is one player I think Wenger WILL buy!
But there are a few other possibilities if Arsenal really want to improve the team next season. First up is some weird story about Van Persie taking a personal visit to Juventus to have a look around and discuss terms, but I really don’t believe that one. Why should he? The same wages, the same chances of winning the Champions League (zero!) and just as much competition to win the League. No I just can’t see it. By the way Van Persie is 10/1 to score the most goals at Euro 2012. Maybe he should wait until after the competition to see what he is offered elsewhere?
The Olivier Giroud one sounds plausible though. The story goes that Arsenal have offered cash plus Chamakh to Montpellier. We all know that Chamakh needs to return to France to regain his form, but he has often stated that he would only go back to Bordeaux so I doubt that will happen, but Giroud will certainly be worth a go for us…..
Vertonghen? I’m not happy about this rumour now. Yes he wanted to come to us and play with Vermaelen, but now it seems that he is set on his move to Spurs but wants to keep us as a backup does not sit well with me at all. In fact I think the fact that Wenger gave Djourou a contract extension tells me that Wenger thinks the defence is fully covered….
As for Salomon Kalou, I think he would be a good addition at a typical Wenger price (free!). Wenger has inquired about him in the past, he has proven Premiership experience, and he once said: “Arsene Wenger said he thought of signing me? That’s an honour for me, an honour because he is a very great coach,”
“I know that every single player in the world dreams of playing for Arsene Wenger. I have a lot of respect for him, he is one of the best coaches in the world so why not?
The only problem is that Wenger himself said last December that he wasn’t going for him, but now he’s free he may change his mind…..
Now Sturridge to me looks like the perfect relacement if Van Persie leaves. He is still young and a goal machine when given the chance – and is sick of being left out on the wing at Chelsea. If Torres is going to be the new centre-forward at Chelsea I could see Sturridge leaving. He said the other day: “You never know what is going to happen in the future,”
“Everyone is going to evaluate the season that they’ve had, the club will certainly evaluate players and I will certainly evaluate my situation.
“Obviously I see myself as a centre-forward and hopefully next season I will be able to achieve that feat because I don’t see myself playing on the wing.”
Does anyone else agree that he could score a shedload of goals for Arsenal?
