Arsenal Rumours Sept 8th – Subotic & Montolivo
The transfer window is firmly shut, but the rumours just keep on coming as far as Arsenal are concerned. Two new names that are being mentioned today are that of defender Neven Subotic and midfielder Riccardo Montolivo.
Neven Subotic plays for Borussia Dortmund and according to some reports he was a target for Arsenal during the transfer window. He was an important part of the Dortmund team that won the Bundesliga title last year and his performances have not gone unnoticed by other clubs in the Premier League.
Subotic to Arsenal may well be a long shot, but do not rule it out. The Serbian defender is settled in Germany, but he has been speaking to the German newspaper Bild and he said, “I have no reason to go away from here. I feel good and this is a great city. I could never go to another club in Germany and, if I was to leave here, I would only consider a powerful club in England.”
So according to the player himself he would consider a move to England! The ball is now in your court Arsenal.
Midfielder Riccardo Montolivo is in the final year of his contract with Serie A side Fiorentina and according to sports website insidefutbol.com Arsenal are interested in signing him.
Montolivo can play anywhere in midfield, and can operate in a defensive or attacking role, and that combined with his displays for Fiorentina has attracted the attention of Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.
The player himself is happy at Fiorentina and said, “Florence has always been my foremost thought.” He also said, “My future however is up for discussion.”
So Montolivo is another player that is clearly open to a move, but if Arsenal are to secure his services in January they will face stiff competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Inter Milan who were both interested in signing him during the summer.
By the time the January transfer window comes around they will be at least another dozen players or more that are linked with a move to Arsenal. As we all know any transfer comes down to the board and their willingness to spend, or not to spend as the case may be.

The ideal thing would be not to inject too many young players into the team…First we have to get the first team in order get some more experience, may be Cahill in defence,m’vila in midfield, and a one more quality striker to go with RVP,someone who is good in air(what we thought of chamack would be has completely turned around)…
Once we set our first team right , then slowly inject youth…
This would have been the plan of Wenger some five years back..But due to players leaving halfway(some for glory and rest for money)Wenger is unable to execute it wisely…
Anyway this weekend is fresh start,i know Wenger will turn it around for us.In Wenger i trust

I thing mr.Aw should learn from the past his transfer philosophiy as well as policy. there fore, he will buy the best players rather than clling or alse discuvering players. atlest two star player if he wants the gunners are titile gone.

Mr.Wenger in control.Do what you find fit but keep the standards of the team to higher than that of 2004.The current team has that potential. But if you find a good player, snatch him in!!!!!!!

Cahill is a better buy than Subotic(more epl exposure) and M’villa will prove a better buy than montolivo (better pace & tackles). To consolidate on what we have now…considering we need to look out for quality going forward. With M’villa, Cahill and Hazard we would have a more robust in-depth team to compete at all levels.

We need M’Villa, Montolivo and Hazard in January along with Gary Cahill and we’ll win the Prem our squad is too small. One injury to Vermaelen and now it’s Mertesacker and Koscienly in defence! If Arteta gets injured then who will be inthe midle with Ramsey becoause Wilshere is out.

@josh09 there is no way AW will bring in 4 players in January. We can do without Montolivo. With M’villa, Cahill and Haz we would be top contenders…at least on three fronts.

i think we’re good enough, buy we still need that defensive midfield, that’s what we lack now,.
take a look at JACK WILSHERE, and other midfield that got injured, i think we need to re- bust the squad, by the adding the defenders like, CAHILL, and the defensive midfield, like M’VILLA of renne, and HAZARDof lille and other strikers that can support VANpersie, in term’s of injuries crisis. YES we have Y.S PARK, but we still need it that’s it

Why can’t Arsenal fans just look forward to football ïn September instead of transfers in January/next summer? Le Prof just completed a summer where he released 8 players(3 core players, 3 squad players who are on high salaries, but less impact, and 2 youth players who are unable to step up) and brought in 7 players(4 for immediate impact, 1 qiuck fix and 2 for the future), all astute deals. Yet you are already clamouring for more buys without seeing how the just concluded buys gel. Some people are just pathetic! A blogger once said some fans switch off after the transfer window, only to ressurect at the next window. Is he wrong now?

Are these just the normal Arsenal transfer rumours or are they facts? Even when the just recently closed transfer window was open, there were many such talks like these which were just rumours and fictions.
