Arsenal scouts reveal Wenger’s top transfer targets
It is being reported this morning that Arsene Wenger has got his scouts out in force ahead of the January transfer window, and they have been revealing their targets to the Daily Mail.
Of course Wenger’s main aim is to find a striker to cover for Gervinho and Chamakh, and the scouts will be in Germany to watch Lukas Podolski on Friday as Koln take on the prolific striker’s old team Bayern Munich. Podolski has already scored 14 goals in 15 games for Koln and has indicated that he would be keen to move away from Germany in the transfer window.
They have also revealed that the Arsenal Chief Scout Steve Rowley was down at his favourite club on the South Coast, Southampton, to have another look at their next big star Luke Shaw who was on show as they easily beat Sheffield United 7-0 in the FA Youth Cup.
The 16 year-old starlet played the first hour of the game and the wingback is hotly tipped as a future star so it is no wonder that he is lined up to join Arsenal and follow in the footsteps of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
It’s great news that Lukas Podolski is being lined up to join the Gunners to make an instant impact, but Shaw is certain to be one for the future.

I would rather see a lethal combination of Poldoski-Van Persie at Arsenal rather than buying him just to cover for Van Persie (forward) and Gervinho (winger) role…it’s been a long time since we last saw a 4-1-2-1-2 (4-4-2 diamond midfield formation) at Arsenal….
I still remember the good old days when our back four is guarded by vieira-petit while wiltord/pires and parlour/ljungberg together with Ashley Cole and Dixon/Lauren making darting runs down the flanks…up front we have Bergkamp playing behind Anelka/Henry…
Go for Poldoski and Arsenal will be able to play 4-4-2 and also current 4-5-1 when we rest one of our strikers.

“One for the future” again. We have 30 million and no trophies in6 years. Wenger may not even continue his contract when it finishes In two years, hits common knowledge the fans would rather buy quality and compete than buy “future” quality and compete in another 6 years.
If we have no choice but to buy”one for the future” then please buy a proven one like gotze, hazard – the usual…
I’m sure luke shaw is gonna be great but this area is already far than accomplished in our area with around 10 players under22 in our squad. Sending our head scout at borussua dortmund would have sent an underlying message-we can compete against man c in the market.

I think wenger should understand that we don’t need any under 18,17 or 16 players. We need mature players that will play for us right away, we don’t have RVP replacement incase of injury, the same thing with our goalkeeper, we don’t have natural wing defenders. All are down with injury, we need replacement. Arsene have money as he claimed, therefore he should spend the money to reinforce the team not to start signing u16 players.

Forget Podoski he’ll need another 2months to adapt to d rugged nature of d premierleague, lets get Demba ba – cheap(£10m max), young, fast, prolific (7goals in12app for hammers, now 11goals in 14app Newcastle), Strong, Scores all types of goals and isn’t afraid to attack or shoot.

we don’t need to buy any wingback cos we’ve got enough in this position except that they are crocked and won’t remain crocked till the end of january. By january wilshere, sagna, gibbs, santos will all be back can’t say much about jenkinson’s back and if we now can’t grind out result in there absence it will be a foolish and shameful thing to panic to the market for replacement. Albeit, we desperately need a striker. Not forgeting that wenger will sign benayoun completely this january cos he’s already done enough medicals at arsenal.

Gotze and Podolski would make our team. I’d play Gotze as a creative central player rather than the wing as Podolski naturally plays on the left.
Sczcesny
Sagna Mertesacker Kos Vermaelen
Wilshere Gotze Song
Walcott RVP Podolski
Subs
Fab, Santos, Coquelin, Arteta, Benayoun, Gervinho, AOC
(Rotate with Jenkinson, Gibbs, Frimpong, Ryo, Ramsey, Park)
Sell
Almunia Squilaci Denilson Rosicky Diaby Arshavin Bendtner
Promote

I think its nice to see Arsenal investing in our youth. This is what makes Arsenal ARSENAL. I don’t understand why fans get annoyed when they here we are linked with a 16 – 17 -18 year old player and then find out in 1 or 2 years they are in our first team. Walcott, Oxe, Ryo to name a few.
I’m not sure if you guys have noticed but, van Persie was signed when he was 20, henry – 23, Fabregas – 16, Clichy – 19, Diaby – 18, Song – 18, Sczezsny – 16 the list goes on and on.
Its simply ridiculous to here an Arsenal fan moan about it. Not many other teams in football give opportunities to young players. This is how Arsenal opeates and if you don’t like it, your supporting the wrong team. If you want Arsenal to buy players for the now, then Man City, and Chelsea are your team.
Not only that, but when we are linked with one for the future and one who can get into the first team immediately, isn’t that the best in both our short term future and long term future?
If Arsene listened to fans, we would have no young exciting stars we all love to watch playing…..
seriously sort it out, and think before saying things…..

Folks if we don’t buy Götze now, he’ll be too expensive in the summer, it’s a fact. And honestly why would we need another midfielder at the moment? Please explain. We have Song (best DM in the PL atm) we have Arteta, we have Ramsey, we have Coquelin, we have Diaby, and we still have Wilshere? Make no mistake, I would love to to see Götze at Arsenal but what is the point right now. Aaron Ramsey have converted from a £4.8m signing to a player worth £30m. He is tireless in the middle, has great passing capabilities, and if he can improve his finishing would get at least 10 goals a season. Why does everyone want to completely reshuffle the squad every window even though ours is good. We only need a striker and loan for a left fullback. Lukas Podolski would come great at Arsenal considering that he can play on the wings, and through the middle and would offer a more brutal and direct approach than a very technical RVP. We could Poldi against the likes of stoke without fear of injury. As for the other signing hopefully Taiwo on loan from AC (if Nigeria didn’t qualify for ACN) or Arbeola from Madrid. And as for this Luke Shaw lad, i don’t see a reason why we shouldn’t sign him. If we don’t now everyone will be moaning when Tottenham or Man UTD sign him up, and he becomes the next Gareth Bale.

@northbankhighbury!
Agree! Ramsey will be a big star. He had one year off. but comparing his performace with the begining of the season, he’s already improved a lot. believe he will have more to give!
Kos was criticized a lot last year. but now he becomes one of the best defenders in EPL.

impatient fans????>youre having a laugh surely????
its not impatience its frustration that for a few extra million here and there we could have bought cahill instead of squillacci and so-on.Its frustration that wenger only moves for a player when absolutely necessary andit becomes a panic buy. Its always about bargain buys with wenger….well sometimes in life you just have to have the balls to think big and go for it. “you get what you pay for” is a saying that wenger should think about.
podolski? yes of course and like a lot of fans are saying play 4-4-2 and forget tippy-tappy square passes in midfield and go more direct

Podolski would be a great sign period. I think for the most part many agreed. Wether it will happen, thats the bigger question. Regardless I’m looking forward to seeing our current squad face off City to see how well they stack up. I have my hopes high going into Sunday.

I’m very skeptical about Podolski. He was a disaster at Bayern and only managed to recover after his return to Cologne. I don’t think he would make that much of an impact at Arsenal. Besides, he’s more of a midfielder than an out-and-out striker we most certainly need.
For me, a more central striker would be much more ideal. Chile’s Eduardo Vargas or Brazil’s Leandro Damiao or even Spain’s Fernando Llorente would be much better choices than Podolski. Having miserably failed at Bayern, it would be very unwise to spend 20m on him, yet 12m would be enough to sign Vargas.

Is Podolski the only good player we can get? NO!
Some Arsenal fans overrate him, frankly we can buy the same talent for a lot cheaper! In fact we can acquire better talent for cheaper! Just because he’s a name we’re all familiar with, doesn’t mean he’ll be good for us. Yes he’s powerful, has a good shot and pacey, but that should be standard for all strikers that play for Arsenal.
I’m not saying I don’t want Wenger to sign him, really I do, but I’m just sick of tabloids making Podolski appear like a God to Arsenal fans. If we sign him for 15-20M let’s hope we don’t get the same fans complaining about him later like they do Arshavin!
Wake up people, we want the best for our team, not someone that we all know!

@ Tristan & northbankhighbury
I agree Ramsey is a good player and he’s improved since coming back from a major injury, but he’s missed countless opportunities to score. I’ve counted at least 5 shots he’s had over the last few weeks where he should have buried them! I’m starting to get sick of his grimacing after a missed shot! Just focus and put it away son! I believe he lacks the killer instinct, unlike RVP or Arshavin. When these guys get a chance, you know they’ll at least hit the target!
Ramsey we love you, but for God’s sake man……Pound that bitch home!

as much as i would love for us to get goetz, podolzki or even hazard who we want to sign as fans.
i just think we always dream of signing big name players
and at the end of january we always end up being let down.
even last summer when wenger did sign round 7 players
we all expected likes of mvilla, hazard, cahill and benzima
we ended up with arteta, benayou, and park
i do love wenger and never want him to leave arsenal
but i just hope he sees that our team aint the best
if we get an injour that we always do we will become sort and play the likes of chamka, arshaving in the starting eleven.
gervinhop will be out for round 1 month and a half
and we only have one other left winger…arshaving
do we expect arshaving to play in big games again milan in the CL and do the job for us …NO
at the end up the day wenger needs to buy 2 world class player
creative midfiled and a striker
we still have money from fabrigas, clichy and nasri sale
lettttt alone us using this budget that we never get at the end of any seasion from profits.

Shaw might be the one for the future…but who is going to deal with the present situation…Incase,if RVP gets injured..who is there?? Our options are limited, It is really a must for Wenger to go for a Striker!! and possibly…Podolski! He would be a big hit!!!

Koscielny is quite litteraly the Shit!! Luv him. And I’m sorry but Ramsey is completely average! He misses goal opportunities and doesn’t have the amazing vision of say Wilshere to make up for it thus, a striker Luke podolski that likes to play abit deep might be just what we need. Or, he can save up buy gotze then get a less expensive striker

@northbankhighbury!
Think you are probably right about Coquelin and Ramsey and swapping them. But I highly rate Coquelin, him and Frimpong bossed the midfield against City and he was great against Spurs. I think he’ll eventually be a better player than Ramsey. Also in my subs line up I had a lot of offensive midfielders, so I put Coquelin in as he’s great at tackling. But overall at the mo Ramsey is the better midfielder.
But still think Gotze and Podolski would be massive assets to our team.

Im still not sold on the prospect of Podolski and what he would bring to the team but I’ll believe that wenger knows what he’s doing. I love the idea of bringing in Luke Shaw he’s a good player and young and that’s what we as an organization do is grow talent. I think it’s important for us to bring in another defender though to which is alarming that we don’t have scouts looking a t a vertroghen, and I still think now is the time for Gotze. He’s hurt so he won’t come in and disrupt what’s going on for the team. But he’ll train and get to know his teammates so that when he gets out on the pitch he’ looks like he’s been here for years. That would be a quality buy, young and full of class. Gooners!

Come on get real – Wenger said he wasn’t going to buy Arteta & ‘Hey Presto’ he appears! Y wld he want to say who he really wants to buy so all these money bag sharks come & grab him!
I believe he wil buy a good forward – from the PL Demba Ba & Junior Hoillet look gd! Wld like 2 c Reuss or Eduardo Vargas gd winger & AMF all in 1! Diaby & Rosicky have plenty left in the tank especially in the CL as long as they dont get injured!
In Arsene we trust!!!!!!!!

i am all tired hearing gunners trannsfer rumors…they dodnot bid high price for a playuer..when they are in bid war other clubs always beat them.i think arsene wenger should do 3 big investment and big name in order to challenge for the title and to be in uefa champions league.for this he donot need to sign young players like shaaw.because arsenal are not short of young players.all mr.wenger needs to do is sign 2 or 3 big players.otherwise if RVP gets injured in case..i can see arsenal not finishing in top 4 also.i would love to see podolski and gotze at the club.come on mr.wenger restore those glory days of invincibles.
