Arsenal send Steve Rowley for another look at Mario Gotze ahead of offer
According to a report this morning, Arsene Wenger is extremely serious about signing the young German international Mario Gotze, who is known as the German Jack Wilshere at the Emirates.
It has often said that these two playing together could form the most awesome midfield partnership at Arsenal for the next decade if Wenger can persuade Borussia Dortmund to let the 19 year-old move to the Emirates by the start of next season.
The Mail reports that the Gunners Chief Scout and “another senior Arsenal spy” (whatever that means!) were ordered by Wenger to go to watch Gotze in action against Olympiakos in this weeks Champions League match which Dortmund won 1-0, and it seems that Wenger is determined to smash the Gunners record transfer fee to bring Gotze to Arsenal.
Gotze recently said that he was considering moving on next year, and the Dortmund Chief Exec Hans-Joachim Watzke admitted tat if it was true then it needed to be discussed.
“We always had the impression that Mario was happy with us,” Watzke said. “If that might no longer be the case by 2012, we will have to talk.”
“We will talk with Mario to find out if there is a change in his attitude.”
It will probably cost Wenger at least £30m to acquire Gotze, but what an awesome future the Gunners would have with him and Wilshere running the show….

this is good news if its true. and as rumoured, arsenal plot a 35 mil bid for pato. it would be the best upcoming signing if its true.

Gotze looks a really good player but would we pay that much for him and at 19 would wenger put him straight into the first team,Hazard aswell?Fantastic if it all came together but i just can’t see it,one or the other maybe but i hope im wrong.COME ON BOYS 3 POINTS TODAY AND GET THE GOAL DIFFRENCE up.

Mario Gotze = Cesc reincarnate for AFC!! Gotze is one top, top quality player… could just imagine Gotze and Wilshere buzzing around the pitch together, linking-up… would be sensational!

How old do u think wilshere is?, goetze won the bundesliga 4 his side so n wilshere beat barcelona so i guess that even’s out, rite? n what else is arsene gonna do with the fab+nasri money of 50m?

Gotze needs to sign for us, he will learn more here than anywhere else, he needs to stay away from madrid, manchester, london and barcelona as he will devolope the most here, he will play more matches for us as well, where as somewhere else where money is shown, he may just rot on the bench, i wish we sign him more than hazard, reason being hazard has already alerted the bigger clubs, and im not talking about PSG, but Real and Chelsea are now intrested, theres no way Mr Wenger will compete with those teams

I’ve got some interesting stats here about Götze.
Height: 176cm
Contract: ends in 2014
His estimated price is indeed €30M, it is in Euros which means much less in pounds.
And let us see how Dortmund does this season, if they fail to qualify for the champions league next season and hopefully Götze requests a transfer then his price will significantly go down.
Otherwise the German coach Joachim Löw always pushes his players to play at the highest level and better clubs.
So Arsenal get 3 points today to pursue our subscribed Top 4 finish!!

We can only wish, he would be a good replacement for el capitan. Although would mean spending a lot of cash (we know the drill), and competing for his signature in the open market. Also we need to get into the champions league otherwise we won’t be luring anyone away.
I hope its something we can follow through on, but I have my doubts.

If the starting 11 are to be considered and assuming that Arsenal retain there current formation(which they probably will) then Arsenal have Ramsey, Wilshere and Song as the current starting midfielders. We also have decent backups in the form of Frimpong, Coquelin, Arteta, Diaby, Rosicky. So should we really buy Gotze? For me Hazard makes more sense as he can play on the left. Shifting Gervinho to the right and using on and off Walcott as a power sub.I personally dont see him blossoming into a great striker so we should buy a world class striker and though i dont see it happening switch to the 4-4-2.

He’s the German Jack Wilshere. He’s a first choice player for the German National side now and he would definitely start as a senior player at Arsenal and not be treated as potential or as a reserve.

Maybe the scouts are just spying on Borrusia for the upcoming game? But getting Gotze would be good. Arshavin is already 30 years old and Rosicky – 31 years old. And Gotze would be a good replacement.

Watched Gotze on a number of occasions while in Germany. Gotze is playing in a Dortmund team that is desperate need of some defenders.In their game against Marseille, Dortmunds defence was torn apart, time and time again and Gotze talent was grossly under used. Dortmund are not as good as their supporters think they are and Gotze is being wasted there. If Gotze is to progress, then he has to go to a better team and play in a better league. He would be a wonderful acquisition for us but I think Dortmund will want at least 40 Million Euros for him. Will we stump up that much?

good thinking we can offer dortmund a bundesliga experienced deender who would be crucial 2 the development of the young n talented defenders of dortmund including Subotic, hummels, schmeltzer exc. that man is sebastian Squillaci! then as a Goetze replacement we can give them bundesliga experience, a dortmund crowd favourite n hardworker Tomas Rosisky! then maybe 20m n we can have goetze!!!! then sell chamakh n buy moussa sow with the money, throw out almunia n buy verthongen 4 10m

i heard that gotze is no longer interested in leaving dortmund…so make an efort for james mccarthy (7million) and mrco reus (20million) and also if you want a top class player … give 50million to buy snejder / hazzard or give 12 million for martin or 20million fro marco marin. and don’t forget douglas costa / jadson / willian!!!!!
