Arsenal set for lucrative pre-season Japan tour
The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has always resisted making gruelling long distance pre-season tours (in favour of low-key European tours like Austria) to help prepare his team to get a flying start at the beginning of the Premiership season.
But the Mirror reports today that he has been persuaded by the shareholders to consider a trip to Japan, where Wenger used to manage Grampus Eight, for a money-spinning trip.
Wenger is highly respected in Japan, and with the recent acquisition of Ryo Miyaichi, the Arsenal board think that the Gunners could nett over £300million from a week-long tour at the end of July.
With no World Cup or European Championship this summer, the Gunners should have ample time to rest even if they go to Japan, which could deflect any objections from the Frenchman. But then again he may be looking forward to renewing his acquaintance with some old friends….

300 million is 20 times more than the real projected earnings. Think about what you just said. If we netted that much, then we would have brought in more money in a week than Manchester United does in a whole year. Think before you write please. The optimistic maximum that the marketing team is projecting is only $15 million – not pennies, but couch money compared to the ridiculous sum you quoted

@samuel
as you prolly do not know, the copa america invites a foreign country outside of south america for every tournament. usually its a north/central american nation like the usa or mexico, but this is actually japan’s second time going.
