Arsenal stars set to miss crucial Champions League match
Arsenal will find out today who they will face in the two-legged Champions League Qualifier later this month, but it seems that the challenge will be made much harder because of some top players missing from Arsene Wenger’s squad.
Robin Van Persie and Samir Nasri are both suspended for the first leg, and all the papers are reporting today that Cesc Fabregas will either be asked to be dropped (or will refuse to play) so as not to jeopardise his chances of playing for Barcelona in the same competition if (or when) he moves to the Nou Camp.
Whether that is true or not remains to be seen, but from what Arsene Wenger has said Fabregas certainly doesn’t have his mind focused on Arsenal’s future at the moment so it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s probable that Wenger would use the threat of him playing to get Barcelona to finally end this tedious saga once and for all…
Theo Walcott has had a re-occurence of his ankle injury and Jack Wilshere played just 7 minutes of the Emirates Cup game against New York Red Bulls, and the Express doesn’t think either will be recovered in time for the beginning of the season, although Wilshere himself is expecting a quick return.
Abou Diaby is also certain to miss the first month of the season at least. He had some surgery on his ankle last week and is unlikely to play until at least September according to Wenger.
So whether Arsenal get FC Twente (again!) or Rubin Kazanor anyone else, the game is certainly going to be a bit more difficult with these players missing….

Wenger has turned Arsenal into a Mickey mouse team by refusing to spend on quality players. The so called stars he has brought in score less than 20 goals per season between the four of them and now Nasri thinks he is too good for Arsenal?
If the objective is to develop youth then the youngsters from the youth side should have filled the ranks by now bu the keeps letting those go (Seb Larsson, Nordveit, Bendtner, Sunu, Randall, JET, Merida,…) and bringing in cheap wannabe stars.

I think the worst thing that can happen to arsenal is losing the first 4 table and may not qualify for u.c.l and europe cup. We all know that last season (and previous seasons) was a disaster. So for the upcoming season, we sold clichy and have 2 unsettled key players in the team. So far, the only “major” signing we did was Gervinho.
Wenker and the AKBs are delusional as always to think that this is enough to mount a serious challenge let alone show any form of AMBITION!!!!

wenger’s so-called lots of activity in the transfer window has yet to find a reliable rock of a centre-back. He has had 2 months to put a deal together but aside from a few derisory offers for jagielka he seems to have done nothing.
He will no doubt fool some of the fans with his excuses..”we tried very hard”…..and “they arent available”…and then to further excuse himself “english players are over-priced”.
We have a qualifier to enter the champs league…an embarassment for a start when we were apparently confident of winning the league….and if current form is relevant, the task will be a hard one. If we dont qualify then who will take the blame?……perhaps the AKBs will be able to answer that!

Our lack of depth in squad is going to kill us. Just imagine , if our LB is not upto the mark TV will move there and if either of djorou or koscielny are injured we will have squillaci !!! Last year we had to move song at CB and guess who was defensive midfield ? No one. We need a quality CB . We had two months and yet no signings which are supposed to help the team. Now , our season opens with New castle followed by liverpool and Man U oh ! and the CL qualifier. We have our main guys down to injuries and suspensions ! How is that people who run the team cannot see this !

Said on another site yesterday that Wenger should call Barca’s intentions by naming Cesc in the CL squad. Any refusal by a player to turnout if desired by the manager would incur sanctions – quite probably suspending him from any involvement in the league stages.
If Barca want to avoid the possibility of Cesc being unavailable………………

Even with the current squad Wenger will tell us that we can win BPL and CL. So don’t worry.
RVP – Bendtner or Chamakh can replace him.
Fabregas – Ramsey or Rosicky can replace him
Diably – Alex Song can play and Frimpong is ready
Walcott – We still have Gervinho or Bendtner can play there also. Eboue also still available and we also can use Jenkinson there
Nasri – why worry? We have Arshavin
We will definitely qualify. No signing needed at all.
And BPL, without any new CB and still we can win it even if we have to play Squilacci in every matches.
You see, no matter how we arrange our squad, not even NY Red Bulls, Boca Jnr, Malaysia selected team and that team in China can defeat us.
So no need to worry, we are trained for 6 years already, isn’t that enough for us to prepare for the 7th?

I had so much respect for Wenger, but now am not sure he wants the best for our team. Too much excuses and poor judgement have made it impossible for us to win any trophy. He is now growing into a dictator, probably because he has his roots deep in side the club now. But like everything, his reign will come to an end, and we can go on to chase trophies and build a stronger team. Yes he is a great coach, but the club isn’t in his kitchen! We need strong signings, the transfer window is almost coming to an end and as usual, he has done nothing significant. We have lost because of the same reasons for so long, I wonder if it isn’t stupidity to expect a different result this year. I watch with so much pain everyday as he hops about achieving nothing for months now, why can’t we sign good legs? Must it be for profiteering always? I don’t blame Cech, this is a betrayal of trust. Wenger betrayed him and has intentions to do more by not letting him go in peace. Today Henri has trophies, money and of course plays good football. That is the mix Wenger lacks. I have resolved to hold back my pain till he leaves.

Honestly, I think we should play Fabregas, because he is still in the Arsenal squad so we have every right to play him.
