Arsenal striker given a lesson in loyalty

Posted on July 08, 2012 by admin

More bad news for Arsenal by BA

Arsenal football club and it’s supporters value loyalty very highly, so we should not think badly of Younes Belhanda. The 22-year old Moroccan international was being hailed by some as the man who Arsenal would use to heal the wounds inflicted by Robin van Persie.

The Montpellier midfielder, though, is going to show van Persie what loyalty means.. “I want to make it clear that it is my choice to carry on the adventure with my friends at Montpellier.”

He is turning down money and a realistic chance in Europe because he feels duty bound to the club that has nurtured his talent since he was 13-years old. It is not just that the player is wary of moving to England before he is ready, because Paris Saint-Germain have also offered to make him rich.

You have to take your hat off to him. Of course, as Arsenal fans, we would like him to come to North London but he has shown certain other players what loyalty really means.

“I am very happy to defend the colours of this club again next season.”

In today’s money rich world of football it is nice to see that some people still have principles. I bet he signs for Arsenal next week now I have written that.

  13. Perhaps says:

Realisticly RVP has two years to win trophies before he is probably too old to play a pivitol part in a teams campaign. He is under the pressure of age, something we will nearly all experience in any job we have. At 31, he will be less fit, slower and will face much competition from the younger strikers. I imagine he has asked him self,

“Can i win trophies here at Arsenal in the next two years ?”

and the answer of course is yes but only if the board of directors provide Wenger with an allowance to strengthen the quality of the squad.

During a meeting with the Chairman and Wenger, he would have been dissapointed to discover that the funds aren’t being made available, which lowers Arsenals ambition and his own chance at getting a trophy.
So the, perhaps the boards ambition for the Club probably upsets him in the same way that many fans are. Perhaps he is also dismayed that the boards instructions for the future do not prioritise winning trophies, and that there business model might rob him for the final chance he has to win a trophy.

I empathize with any one who is committed to fulfilling their dream in life. In football, the collective dream is the same – to be the best, to win te trophies, to be undefeated. You can not do this alone, you need a team of the best. RVP knows the board are a weak link, the barrier in the way of success for the players, for the fans and for the manager.

what do you think about this statement dear people

    post from the beautiful world

Mr King Wenger and the Gunners board are under fire over Robin van Persie’s decision to quit because he cannot see the club challenging for trophies.

But Wenger follows football legend Johan Cruyff’s mantra that you can win the Champions League without splashing out millions.

The Dutch legend laid the foundations for Ajax’s Champions League glory in 1995 and helped establish Barcelona’s trademark style through the Spanish giants’ academy.

And Cruyff believes you can still be successful using a good youth set-up and by recruiting talented young players.

Gunners boss Wenger said: “I totally agree with Cruyff — and I won’t change.

“The only sad thing is that sometimes your work is destroyed by others.

“You want to see a player in his prime doing it for your club. But it does not work like that all the time.

“I am a victim of that. I lost Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Cesc Fabregas at an age where they should have been playing their best football for Arsenal. But I never left the club when I could have.

“I could have left 10 times to join another club but I didn’t because I have worked with the same vision and philosophy at Arsenal for the last 16 years — and that won’t change.

“Besides, money was never a motivation for me.

“And, in a similar way, people like Cruyff don’t put all their energy in building football teams with young players just for the money.

“We all do this because we want to give something back to football.”

Neither that, nor buying Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud for a combined £24million this summer was not enough to satisfy Van Persie.

The Dutch striker’s contract runs out next year and he will not sign a new one.

He said: “I had a meeting with the boss but unfortunately it has again become clear to me that we disagree on the way Arsenal should move forward.”

RVP’s revelation led to an avalanche of criticism and even calls for Wenger to quit.

Wenger admitted: “The emotion is over-ruling analysis now. Every word is being enlarged to ridiculous height.

“Millions of people have an opinion now on it all.”

He’s staying because Montpellier WON THE FRENCH TITLE! If you think he’d be saying the same thing if they finished outside of France’s Champion’s League places then you’re insane. Let’s all be honest now, none of this post-RVP-announcement-patriotism nonsense. He has a much better chance of winning even more trophies with his current team, in which he is a star, than on our bench witnessing disappointments. Fair play to the lad for not advertising to the likes of Manchester, Madrid, Chelsea etc. but there is absolutely no reason for him to want to come to us other than possibly a wage increase. Also, RVP has signed the majority of his career away to us and has had very little tangible success to show for it. Every season Wenger promised him trophies, success and return on his LOYALTY, and every season it’s fallen to pieces through no fault of RVP himself. You ”fans” turning on him now when you KNEW he would never sign yet another contract, are a disgusting example of support and are embarrassing our club in the world’s eyes. Fickle support will ALWAYS lead to fickle players. Sort yourselves out.

They keep lying to us every season by making empty promises, but rvp sees the light and is bold enough to speak against it publicly and here we are jumping on his back for saying the very things that we all know is the truth. If we are not bold enough to resist and reject this current board arsenal things will not change. For me rvp is a legend for the boldness he’s shown against these selfish and greedy guys who care nothing about arsenal. Are people stupid? Would you choose a football team over your family? We should stop looking at RVP’s situation from a gooner’s point of view and start seeing it from a Father’s sight. This is his last big contract considering his age, so yes he would do whats best for his family and himself. Things would be different if we were winning trophies and the weekly wages higher to keep the best on board. Everyone is jumping ship and maybe we shouldn’t question players’ loyalty as this article does thoughtlessly, but we should question the loyalty of the Board to the fans!

I think RVP’s motivating factors are money and where they’d like to live. I think trophies is a third priority, but of course it’s the more noble reason to give. To say “money is no factor” is insulting. If it were no factor, remain on the same wage or take a pay cut like Csec when he leaves. If he did that, or took a very slight increase, then that would be fair enough. But he won’t. I suspect his agent is heavily involved in this, increase his commission. Agents are the worst thing in football. Very sad that he has one injury free season and he thinks he’s too good for Arsenal.

I can’t 100% blame him, even if all respect has been lost. We’ve gone from a club that expected titles. To a club that thinks top four and CL is a successful season. Standards are slipping quickly. For Hill-Wood to say “it’s not like we’ve been relegated” is hugely insulting. Where the f*ck would Arsenal be without the fans? Absolutely nowhere, non existent. Not the players non the directors, but the fans are the club, they’re every club. Without fans, there is no football club. Without fans, there is no football full stop. We pay the wages of every single person involved with football. Where will we slip to next? “Europa League is good enough, it’s not like we’ve been relegated”. Downhill from here, like Liverpool going from CL winners and PL title contenders to 8th last season. Or even Newcastle going from PL contenders to being relegated.

Disgusting, but what does one expect from a former banker and a man that’s married into the Walmart corporation? Money, money, money and forgetting those that help them achieve that on the way. Western capitalism at its finest. All about the share prices and stock market.

I completely applaud RVP for deciding not to sign another contract. I wanted him to stay. Very badly infact. But I completely agree with his decision not to resign. It doesn’t really matter what anyone says. You must always be true to yourself. He came to the conclusion that Arsenal are happy with trying. Trying to win the Premier League without having a chance. At the end of the day, the club is happy to finish in the Champions League places.

Belhanda is 22, RVP is 29. Where is the comparison in that?
Belhanda has a minimum 10yrs left in his career. RVP will be lucky to have another 5. And you talk of loyalty??
RVP was at this club when he was 21. Regardless of all that has happened to him medically in 8 yrs, the reality is YOU CANNOT FOOL EVERYONE ALL OF THE TIME.

At Arsenal, it is not a matter of life and death if you don’t win a trophy. At the big clubs IT IS! Only 10 yrs ago, some of us would bet that Arsenal (our club) will win the league the following season. Can you honestly (in your heart) say that these days? NO. YOU KNOW DEEP DOWN!

Face it, the club is not on the up and it is VERY STUPID to expect players at the twilight of the careers to stay with you and win NOTHING. Every player is different and some players want to finish at the very very top level. RVP not re-signing only thickens the plot that ARSENAL don’t represent the very very top anymore.

I expect better from the authors of these posts but then, it is your website and you can do what you want. No offence intended.

Yes mate I totally agree. I too don’t blame RVP for wanting to leave. Every player especially the big names set goals for themselves to win trophies and titles. This same ambition has to be set by the Board and the club. With Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy and now RVP wanting to leave, it just reflects the goals set by Arsenal executives. If Walcott leaves too then that would be a travesty, but i don;t see it happening becasue the kid wouldn’t succeed anywhere else but Arsenal.

We are all furious that RVP is leaving the club that has believed so much in him in his hard times. Lets see it this way, Cesc said “there are times when you given your all and you feel there is nothing left to give” I don’t think we should all be furious with RVP not signing a new contract doh its a sad news and the past few days i have not been excited reading articles about his refusal cuz it all looks like horror. This players are not stupid!! They all wants to be a legend and i dont think RVP is really willing to give up it assured starting role and captaincy to start training hard and trying to adapt to another lifestyle or gameplay elsewhere.
I believe RVP wants Arsenal FC to move forward. The greedy and stubborn board is to be blame. They should at least bend for once and do what is right.
Anything in this world can change within a blink of eye. It’s so painful to say last season, i watched all arsenal matches and i am not as sure or relax or what might be the result till the final whistle. It is a painful thing to start having problems with Newcastle every now and then. Thought we were terrible rivals with Man Utd? What went wrong? Why have they gone way above us? Spuds almost claim the bragging right in N. London if not for the RVP equalizer at almost half time that bring about the blissful turn around.
I can remember Henry having a burst up with Wenger asking for top quality signings before his departure he probably see what RVP is looking at now.
Le Prof did a good job last season and i know he is most capable for the job, no one would expect a top 6 finish after the defeat at man utd but we have prove everyone wrong which means the class is always there.
But i fear honestly that we wont be challenging seriously for any major trophy next season without few more top signings. I wont say our players are not good enough, we have a good squad if everyone can stay fit but given our injury record we need to buy at least 2 quality players. A man in the Midfield and a cover for Sagna.

Please gooners fans, let us not be let down by this players leaving.. Many that had left has shown greatly why they should/shouldn’t have left.
Where ever RVP is playing next season, i wish him good luck .. but he is no longer a gooner! I am tired of this crap “what ever happens, i am still a gunner” Shut the hell up and face your new challenge Ingrates!!!

But also… My Point, Let the BOARD amend their stingy policy at least for the fans..

You brought harmony, peace and respect to the

But, on the 4th of July 2012, you dropped the bomb
shell that turned Arsenal into turmoil. You released a

one thing for certain, ARSENAL it was, ARSENAL it is

Many people have criticized us for lacking ambition.
That I might not dispute, but we are still the quickest
out of the block this season, with the capture of
Lukas Podolski and Oliver Giroud + Arteta, Per,
Wilshere, Song, Szczesny, Koscielny, Vermaelen et al.
I believe that is a step in the right direction, proven
all-round strikers to tow a truck-size burden off you.
Despite being one step behind, we still manage to
qualify for Europe at the expense of Liverpool, Spurs
and Chelsea (only qualified as champions).
You have been at the club for 8years, I can only say I
have seen you on the pitch for only two seasons. In
these two seasons you were absolute class, scoring
spectacular goals. The remaining 6 years were
enshrouded with injuries, injuries and more injuries
that ultimately earned you the nickname, “The Man
    of Glass”.
During this troubled times, when a section of the
fans wanted you out, guess who was there? ARSENE
WENGER! If he had sold your sorry a**, you would
have been doing an AQUILANI now.
As much as I will love to credit last season to your
brilliance, I believe there a certain word
called “TEAMWORK”. It wasn’t just team work, It was
Arsenal players playing as a family… The bond and
togetherness was so strong, your team mates would
    have sacrificed (anything) for you.
Rewind ARSENAL vs WIGAN (4-0 at Wigan) Theo
Walcott had the chance to be on the score sheet, he
chose to delay the ball, and square for you to score.
Everyone wanted you to be successful. I look at
Rooney and Nani, I wonder how many times I’ve seen
them have a go at each other. That bond between
players is what money cannot buy. They said you
made the perfect runs for the likes of Song to pick
you out? What happened at the Euros, you needed
mobile phones to communicate with Robben and
    Sneijder??
Now your ambition has grown bigger than that of the
club in one brilliant season? Where was the ambition
when you were sent packing in Holland, where was it
when Arsenal catered for your rehab, where was the
ambition when you received cash for years for work
undone? Time to reap the faith Arsenal F.C showed in
you, your ambition suddenly grew wings?
I really don’t blame you, but Wenger. That his
persistent trust in players (Flamini, Nasri,Clichy) that
turns around and spits on his face.. Hence, any player
with two years left on his contract and refuses to sign
    shall be benched or sold.
Enough of the fu*kery from ingrates. Ginafranco Zola
was one of the most talented players the EPL has
ever seen, what did he achieve with Chelsea? But his
name will forever remain UP there.
Finally I will like to thank you for the good times, the
amazing goals (I’ve lost count), the get-out-of-jail
free cards (I’ve also lost count). I wish you well in
your career, all in the best at your next club.
Go win trophies mate. When you eventually leave do
me a favour, forget everything Arsenal and please do
    not talk about us.

rvp is a very gd player and i don’t believe he’s nt loyal but with d board arsenal will still be trophiless. the best thing to happen to arsenal is for wenger to quit, he is the best manager in the world and will get offer somewhere and see who can do the cover up for the board, we wont play in the cl let alone el. Stingy board.

Tell me when was the last summer Arsenal have not lost a star player?? We kept Cesc for longer. He was very respectful to Arsenal. What many don’t realise is the Board hide behind the fans and make sell their spin and play the victim to the fans and they all buy it. The fans (gullible as they are) turn on the players and call them names. The cycle goes on and on and on.
Great teams never lose their star players even if they don’t have deep pockets, even if they’re in debt. Familiar hunting ground for MCity and Barcelona. This makes tears well in my eyes. It’s such a shame because I know RVP deep down in his heart loves this club but the Board has other priorities. He has failed where others also have. Failed to convince the key people to look at things differently. It’s a cycle. It’s spin. And it’s only just started.

pls, let’s not judge wit sentiments as fans but think of his carrier at arsenal that is characterised by no bete medal to show. he is 28 now and even next season is not guaranteed. forget about podolski n giroud. remember that rosicky cannot do the work he did for us last season. he’s old, then ramsey will come in to frustrate this guyz wit inexperience. wen we missed arteta who was our engine last season, we were begging to draw a match. same thin will happen next season if we don’t have an experienced person[s] there to help and they will keep on telling rvp next season will be beta. but he’s not gettin younger any lomga. put yourself in his shoe and tell us how it feels.

if arsene wenger is so loyal to arsenal then why does he sit idly by and let all our talent be sold off , surley , wenger has a lot of clout at board level by now and if he says do not sell these players or i will leave then the board will not sell . wenger is sitting on his hands for too long and being overpaid to produce players for the richer clubs . if wenger is truly loyal then let him call the boards bluff and threaten to leave when ever there is a chance of our better players being sold off . it isckens me to see these banners in wenger we trust , are we all blind ? . wenger is not loyal , he is loyal to hiss way and nobody elses . and that is one of the big problems at arsenal , the wenger way or no way . wenger suits the board and the board suit wenger , we are being duped season in season out , why it should be inscribed on all arsenal fans tombstones ” next year we will win something “.no , we wont win anything next season , and no ,wenger is not loyal , he is self centred and a fanatic , and we all know what happens with fanatics in charge folks .

I salute all real Gunners who value integrity, loyalty, hardwork and prudence against free lunch that would end up as fish bone lodging inside the throat. RVP has no good reason to dump the club other than money. He cannot guarantee that he would be injury free in the new season or that the club he intends to join would win something especially if players like him are always on the treatment table. RVP is part of the club’s problem but he needs money for the future as the next injury might end his playing career otherwise he ought to have been encouraged by the steps Arsenal had taken already, two good signings yet searching for more. I must submit that possibly Usmanov might be a remote influence on our players to leave so that by pitching the fans against the board, he could make an inroad into the board for eventual full take over. Let RVP go and if possible Walcott together with Arshavin , Bendtner, Squilacci and Vela so that we can bring in 3 better strikers, 1 defensive midfielder and a good defender. A back up keeper is only needed if both Manonne and Fabianski go away. We need not abuse the board or the manager and neither should we play into the hand of Usmanov because all investors are the same, the period of free money will go and thereafter we would see them in their true colors. Let us advice and encourage the board and the coach to sign reasonable replacements for whoever would leave the club. RVP is not Arsenal, a better striker would emerge again.
