Arsenal target £20m French playmaker to replace Nasri
Arsene Wenger (and the Arsenal fans!) will be hoping that the contract situation with Samir Nasri is sorted out this week to everyone’s satisfaction, but it seems that Wenger is looking at possible alternatives if the 24 year-old refuses to put pen to paper.
The French footy paper L’Equipe is convinced that Wenger is going to bid for the Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena as the perfect replacement for Nasri as he can play as an attacking midfielder or winger, and can dribble past opponents like his compatriot.
The 26 year-old has recently become a regular for the France national team alongside Nasri and scored against England last year, although he is not exactly famous for his goalscoring abilities, having just 15 goals in just 125 games for Marseille.
Arsene Wenger is sure to be very aware of his abilities, but he is only 5ft 6in (nicknamed “the little bike”) and Wenger made it clear that he would be looking for taller players this summer to improve Arsenal’s set-piece weaknesses.
And £20m seems just a tad expensive for a Wenger purchase, even if he recouped the full amount from selling Nasri….

why again must to come a French player???Arsenal is a French team?we have entire defense from France…Clichy,Koncesky,Squillaci,Sagna+Nasri…I like very mutch Thierry Henry…was and is my idol forever…But players like Koncesky&Squillaci don’t deserve to be at Arsenal…why the defense can’t look like that:Gibbs,Cahill,Dann,Sagna?…I like Wilshere very mutch and I hope to be our Gerrard…and I want Mario Gotze…is mutch better than Valbuena…and is a serious German…a loyal player but he is the perfect replace for Cescelona…I heard he is back on our training from today.

valbuenna is just a similar player to nasri and we wont get him if we do sell nasri – personally i think he will stay as he knows cesc is going and he will be the main man for us in cesc role and in his prefered position in the centre
i think if cesc and nasri both go – wenger will change the formation and go back to 4-4-2
the downing rumour wont go away – but id prefer if we signed n’zogbia to play in that left wing role

I’d rather someone like Gourcuff, he is tall and strong and has great vision and a killer set-piece taker!! He can play anywhere in midfield. If he can settle at Arsenal he would be the perfect addition to the midfield.

I’m french and even I would prefer not to see another frenchman.
Espacially this one. You may not know this guy too much in the UK, but while being able to do some speedy nervous runs, he is really… let’s say messy (by no means messi) in his way of playing. Dribbling a la Ribery sometimes, which means lots of randomness around. Can’t build a serious team around him. He has appeared many times in the French national team but is no really starting 11 player either.
But he is a fighter, I’ll give him that.
I’d rather go with Downing or someone better, really.

Quick youtube compilation, hes got quick feet but as soon as its crunch time he can’t seem to deliver the ball. Seems a bit rushed. Don’t buy, fight for Nasri and concentrate on buying players we needed replacing 2 seasons ago.

valbuena is to short maybe for an arshavin replacement he would be good. as for cesc going get vidal to play beside song with nasri in front. what this means is that weve increased the height of the team if nsri goes then get gercouff or gotze who have equally as much potential as nasri and in gercuff case he will add height to the team.
if were looking at british based players as replacments;
downing/nzogbia 4 left wing (nasri doesnt want to play their and arshavin isnt a regular there.
scott dann 4 squilacci this player would be loyal as he knows he wont play for a bigger team than us.
barton 4 denilson he has slightly more techniqual ability and alot more grit and determination

Valbuena is a terrific buy! This guy is tenacious at midfield. He can dribble, pass, score, is creative and tricky. Oh and he’s quick! Valbuena is great at keeping the ball so it suits our possession playing style. Although he’s a shorter player than Nasri at 5’7(correct me if wrong), he makes up for his stellar displays in midfield.
We can balance the midfield with more height and hope we sign Alvarez standing at 6’2. I’m more than happy to replace Fabregas and Nasri for Valbuena and Alvarez. Cesc is a sensational passer and this will lack in our squad next year, but we do make up for it 2 fold with money to invest in a stronger back line and acquiring versatile players in midfield.
Fabregas does have one weakness in his game and that comes down to SPEED. He is efficient with his movements but sometimes has lacked the quickness to get that extra space to either score, pass or tackle. Valbuena and Alvarez will strengthen this aspect and I can envision our front line of Walcott v.Persie and Gervinho all working in tandem and harmony.
Jack Wilshere should replace Fabregas in the centre role instead of Nasri if he remains. We’ve seen many a time this season when Nasri has been on the right flank and cut in with his deadly quick feet and score. Porto got destroyed by Nasri with this same play. Jack is a great passer and I believe under Fabs tutelage he has matured and learnt a great deal. He is ideal in that role as he can tackle and defend too. Alvarez or Valbuena to support Wilshere on the left wing would be dangerous.

‘I give up’,who the hell is this guy? I mean really, is this suppose to convince our established players that Wenger is serious about bringing in re-inforcements. Is it?
so far, this is where we stand:
- a 19 year old from Charlton
- a possible 17 year old from Southampton
- a guy from Uzbekistan
- a second choice Goalkeeper from ITaly,
- two Spaniards from Barcelona aged 16 and 17
- and a so called great player in Gerviniho from Lille.!!!!
With that said, this has been the most exciting transfer window in years. We all have an idea of whoes leaving, but I can not wait to see who will come in. There is ofcourse a lot of pressure on Wenger to deliver and he usually like to surprise everyone.

Wenger has said that one’s passport doesn’t dictate his interest in a player or not (or something like that). If this rumour is correct, then his tracking of Mathieu proves otherwise. For God’s sake AW, let’s look elsewhere. You can practice speaking French during the off season.

Ok… I would like to see in my gunners to Cavanni with Van Persie… we need another striker.
Let to go to Fabregas… he is not even playing as well as he did it before… just cuz he wanna play in Barcelona.
I feel that arsenal’s players are dissapointed cuz the team is not winning trophyies… they are too young… they need at least 2 or 3 experience players. In other words, mix the experience to teach the young.
The problem is here, Wenger is going with just one striker (van Persie), an when u play that way u need people in mid field with goal power. Comparing with Barcelona for example. Here we dont have this, so the most clever action is to go with two strikers. So u are more dangerous and u are not dependant from the mid people.
So it could be a good option to the Arsenal Cavanni as I said before, Falcao, Parker, Cahil or even Podolsky. I would like to se some germans players too… they have mental force and a big heart.

Listening to Harry on sky. I think Wenger with his policy will struggle to bring top players to Arsenal and the so called kids will not stay after they matured.
