Arsenal target another Barcelona youngster
I wonder if the Cesc Fabregas tapping-up saga has led to an outbreak of war between Arsenal and Barcelona, as it has been reported in the Spanish footy paper, Sport, today that Arsenal are keeping tabs on another young Barcelona midfielder.
The 18 year-old Oriol Romeu was extremely promising last season for Barcelona’s reserve team, and after making his debut for Barca in the Super Cup match against Sevilla, it was thought that the defensive midfielder would be moved up to the first team this year.
Alas the signing of Javier Mascherano from Liverpool has completely scuppered any chance of first team action, and Sport says that Arsenal are waiting in the wings to pounce if the youngster refuses to negotiate a new contract at the Nou Camp.
Romeu is said to be able to play in defence or midfield and has made 19 appearances for his country at U17-U20 level, and is strongly tipped as a star of the future.
It would be a minor victory for Wenger in the war with Barcelona if he could persuade the youngster to leave on a free transfer…..

Yes great idea we can make him into the star of the future and Barcelona will try and take him from under our noses for shillings. How about we keep the faith in the lads we got coming through and avoid this or a future cesc saga is on the way. NO THANKS

You guys are kidding me right? Are u stupid or something! Who gives a shit if the DNA thing happens all over again, we got Fabregas for pittance and will inevitably let him leave for 40 million pounds or more! When he leaves we can use the money to sign multiple quality players….. why not do the same thing again!

come on..i agree with Mick..why don’t take this opportunity…lets them figure out how to defense themself instead keep attacking our player..if they really appreciate they’re DNA they should treat they’re player properly..and don’t let wenger teach them how to do that…

please am pleased to see walcot fighting a big war with confident striking power thus this is a threat to the defenders whenever walcot is seen with the ball i urge the coach to advice walcot once he has caused a threat this is the time he can can trick them by passing the ball all the time for others to score.actually a stricker should be a disturbing force strikers should mean and be able to prove that they are realy strikers.

IF Barcelona looses kids its their own fault. All they have to do is show a little faith in them. Thta is the only reason alot of their kids has left the nest and ended up here. THey would still be in barca if barca cared enough. They dont so that is why we end up with players like cesc, miquel and previous merida. THen we make em into great players and sell em back for 40m pluss. Good buisness for us, the player and well bad buisness for barca but hey you reap what you sow(or something).

Don’t think that the Cesc saga will happen again, Barca won’t try that line again. Think about it this way, everyone thought that Toure and Adebayor leaving wouls scupper our club but Prof. Wenger saw it as an opportunity and invested in some quality players (Vermaelen for example) and then we came the closer to the title than we had in years.
Course there is no guarantee that that would hapen again and i love cesc so lets try our best to keep him eh? and if we face barca again, how about we break xavi’s legs and trash ‘em for good measure eh???
UP THE ARSE!

If we bought that kid it all Barca fault. They have a good kid coming thru rheir rank, but they bought Javier. Is that show no faith in thier academy. So if they boy want to leave it’s not Arsenal fault. Like when Eduardo, merida and Traroe, and upson, We never blame the buying club right, It just there are several player infront if them.
