Arsenal tell Barcelona they can have Fabregas….for £50m!
It is being reported this morning that Arsene Wenger is willing to call Barcelona’s bluff and slap a price tag of £50m on Cesc Fabregas. Today’s Mirror says that Wenger will be happy to accept the money to bring in a few top-class players to rebuild the Arsenal squad.
Another benefit of giving them a basic figure for Fabregas is that they have to say either yes or no, and if the answer is negative then there will be no repeat of last season’s continual tapping up of his captain by the Barcelona team.
The Mirror though says that there is “a growing belief” that Fabregas will finally get his wish to join his boyhood team, and if Nasri and Clichy also refuse to sign new contracts, then Wenger will have a massive amount of cash to bring in able replacements for a fresh assault on the title next season.
Wenger has already indicated that he intends to bring in some mature and experienced players, and if he can have all the proceeds of his sales (and don’t forget Denilson) added to his “war chest” then he really could compete for the very best players in the transfer market.
Would everyone be happy if Wenger got £50m for Fabregas?

Fabregas for 50mil highly welcome..We dnt need defensively cripple and lightweight players like him in the fast lanes of d EPL…Plus he’s a fairweather captain who cant inspire any1 to save his life….I say good riddance..and get me gokhan inler, sakho and a certain willian wiv the proceeds…

I suppose FCB might not be able to afford £50M for Cesc or any player this summer considering the state of their books. However, £30M+Bojan+Ib.Affellay (or £35M+Bojan+Thiago Alacantra) should be considered by Arsene for Cesc. His mind is already with his boyhood mates so, let him go for the right price. We sure don’t want to keep an unhappy tallisman in our midst. This Club is certainly bigger than anyone. With the affellay deal(if it sails through) we can use the money to add more quality to the squad without stress, while maitaining a very healthy book n will be in good position to challenge next season! Arsenal still, no matter what!!!

If true, it will at last test Barcelona’s resolve.
Every player in the world has his price and £50m is a fair valuation for Fabregas. He yearns for a return to his homeland and who can blame him.
A sale like this, along with others, should open up a bit of a buying spree by Arsenal, towards a much needed rebuilding programme.
Then, all that is required is some intensive coaching about defending and benefiting from setpieces and corners!!

50mil! That’s my tag for him last season bt this season i won’t mind 38-40mil as he kinda intentional play down his value to that. If barca want him, let them cough out the money and show us they don’t just want to take him and put him on the bench as 50mil can’t be a bench player i.e el nino which justifies wenger’s price tag for cesc. hes without doubt our best player. just imagine; we could have won the carling cup had he been in the starting line up.hes our best player that creates about 70% of the chances.
wilshere is good, or as i should say, exceptional, but even hes not at fabregas’ quality. the stuff he can do is next level. However, I do believe that hes not best captain around these days. Wilshere would be a better captain that him because he has a voice on the pitch. Even a center back like vermaelan would do but not a striker like van persie.
i believe arsene wenger should sign samba from blackburn. hes a strong vertile player and will fight in the air when a ball is coming in. hes physical and experienced enough for the premierleague. him and vermaelen would make an amazing partnership. Denilson, bendtner, squillaci, eboue, vela, rosicky should b sold. A top quality striker such as benzema or bayerns Muller should be brought it. also scott parker would be amazing in the heart of the midfield.

If Fabregas goes our midfield lacks maturity once again. As it did when Flammini and Hleb went, when Viera and Gilberto went. The grass is always greener on the otherside . He should leave for £50m, blc his hearth is not with us & so he is not commited to Arsenal. 50mil should be the minimum price. I would prefer to keep Cesc but if his heart is not with us anymore and he is desperate to get out we should accept his decision. After his summer off I can see Cesc having a great season next, still hope its in Arsenal.

£50m is good enough for Cesc and with the £40m for the TW that’s £90m to spend with selling one player
Benzema = £25m
Hazard = £20m
Götze = £20m(replace Fab with Götze or Ramsey)
Sakho = £15m
After we sell
Almunia = £1-2m
Squillaci = £5-6m
Eboue = £5-6m
Rosicky = £5-7m
Diaby = £10-13m
Denilson = £6-8m
Arshavin = £12-15m
Bendtner = £13-16m
£60m + £5m left over = £40m to spend after Arsenal keep some £
