Arsenal to move for €30 million striker?
Reports in Columbia are gathering pace that Porto striker Falcao is interesting Arsenal who may be set to launch a €30 million bid for the forward who has netted 53 goals in 64 games for the Portuguese side.
FutbolRed.com suggest that Falcao will be brought in as a replacement for fellow South American Carlos Vela who seems to be closing in on a temporary move to Bolton Wanderers after Owen Coyle confirmed that he had spoken to Arsenal about taking him to the Reebok Stadium.
Falcao, whilst unproven in a top European league, has been banging in the goals in Portugal in the two seasons he has spent there, just last season he netted an outstanding 34 goals in 43 games and is known for his predatory instincts – these were made abundantly clear to Arsenal when he netted the second goal in a 2-1 win for Porto against Arsenal in the Champions League. Just don’t mention that game to Lucasz Fabianski.
This transfer rumour may be given some extra standing by the story appearing in Spain today by Las Provincias that Arsenal and Valencia have agreed a €7 million fee for Carlos Vela – however I am inclined not to believe this story and Vela does feature in the managers plans.
Porto may be able to compensate for selling Falcao with Brazilian striker Hulk netting 19 goals so far this season and the €30 million fee will mean they can buy a replacement with money left over the supplement the rest of their squad.
My personal opinion is that Falcao will not join Arsenal, but Arsenal need a striker in his mould – a poacher. Van Persie is a very good forward but not your typical goalscoring striker, Chamakh is a hard-worker but not clinical enough despite a very encouraging start to his Arsenal career and Nicklas Bendtner has all the class but will he stay?
Carlos Vela is the best finisher at the club – maybe Arsene is just waiting for him to hit his stride…

Maybe Falcao is a good striker but will Arsene pay 30 milion for a striker . I dont think soo.
I think that the words about Van Persie and other strikers on this post are all true and we do need a striker a good striker that can score but Wenger will not pay amaizing sum for any striker/

Falcao is an excellent player, much better than Hulk but the price tag is huge, though he’s worth it. I don’t see Arsene spending that kind of money though.
Falcao isn’t some target man though, he’s very much Carlos Tevez like – runs alot, comes from deep, has good skill with the ball. I don’t see him leading the line when he plays though, Hulk provides the box threat and Falcao plays opportunistic striker when the defenders are occupied by Hulk

Arsene can’t keep all his strikers happy as is. With theo, bendtner and Vela all getting upset at not seeing consistent first team action. Chamakh has got to be getting upset at being left out of big games as well.

As for Falcao rumor…not going to happen. Wenger spending 30 million on a striker after we bought Chamakh, have RvP back, sending Vela out on loan rather than selling him, grooming Theo to eventually play up top, doesn’t seem willing to let Bendtner go…again, not going to happen. Wenger will find two or three players for 30 million before he spends it on one.

I agree Dzeko would have been far better. I don’t think its a good idea and sorry to tell you but Vela is not the best finisher at the club… he has missed so many oppurtunities. All he can do is chip the keeper.
I think we are fine for strikers. Between RVP, Chamakh and Bendtner they can all score goals and offer something else to the team. I think we need another combative, strong midfielder who can score from range. We need more shooting! Denilson is just so inconsistent and when isn’t diaby injured.

Falcao is a ver important stiker, he was great in argentina, he played for river plate. He is an excelent choice. good player. If arsenal is not buying him, iam sure another great team will sing him (milan is interested too).

This story is all lies 30 mil, whatever, I’m sure suarez is a better player and option for us in my opinion. Iv been saying for so long that we need better strikers, some may say we have too many already, SELL THEM, replace VP and Bentner with more clinical strikers and promote JET.
Last jan we were waiting for bentner to get fit again it was said it would be like a new signing well he’s crap, still now, and I’ve no faith in VP flatters to deceive too many fans think he’s the best thing since sliced bread, well look he’s injured already, so weak so slow so crap. Man city game proves we may just miss out on the title because of our striking. 10 clear chances = 0 goals. By the way we create the most chances and our goal getting ratio from chances created must be the lowest in the league.
So we NEED strikers. Guys who can get us 30 goals a season. What Wenger may do is this. Let Bendtner go. Let Bayern, Inter of Juventus get RvP (there has been rumours). He is worth 25M – 30M. Get someone like Pappis Cisse from Freiburg (About 12M and banging goals) and get Fernando Llorient from Atletico (18M and a hard working giant of 6.5″ who get goals…
30M for Falcao….Looks so UnWenger like. But a great dream if he will carry his capabilities to the highest level.

I’m a colombian fan, and althought i think he is a really good striker, he is not the type of player wegner would buy. He is a little bit short (1.78 m) and not fast enough to the kind of football that arsenal plays, also he is weak compared to the PL defenders. 30 million is Dzko tag price, who is much more adequate for the PL.
P.S i wonder why 1st world people can’t even spell name countries right and can’t locate one in a map either.
