Arsenal To Offer Manchester United £1million For Ageing Striker?
When it comes to transfer rumours and Arsenal we all know that most of them turn out to be just that rumours, and anyone we are interested in normally ends up elsewhere anyway. There is one doing the rounds today suggesting that Arsene Wenger is preparing a January bid for Manchester United’s ageing striker Michael Owen. Yes I laughed as well.
Caughtoffside.com report that Arsenal are mulling over a £1million bid for Owen, and I quote “to bolster their attacking options.”
Does Arsene Wenger fear the worst and think that Robin Van Persie will become injured or worse still does he think he is leaving, and he sees Owen as a short term replacement, or is this just another of those rumours that should be thrown in the bin. It has to be the latter surely, or does it?
The report goes on to say that Arsenal are prepared to offer Owen an 18 month contract and are going to give him a chance to resurrect his England career. Owen is fast approaching his 32nd birthday, but is a proven goalscorer though he is prone to his fair share of hamstring injuries.
If there is any truth in the story, and that is a huge if, then as an understudy to Van Persie he could do a job, and he would certainly help the youngsters at the club, but if he seen as his replacement for the Dutchman then the answer simply has to be no.

Ya I agree with Malik . With all due respect for the player ,it is disgrase for arsenal to be interested in someother clun’s timely unfit players, what is happening to arsenal is arsenal is a club in financial difficulty to sign fit players than collecting benchers?

Is Arsenal’s transfer policy now: “old-injury-prone-player- well-past-his-prime”? The guys at Arsenal are simply unbelievable.

if rvp is a prone…own is a “ageing” prone…what diffence does it make?
but…i think we have PARK!!!!!!!!!! we don’t need another attacker…if we they don’t want park…then AFOBE and WALCOTT are also good strikers!!!!!

As a short term signing, Someone to come off the bench as a different option, a proven poacher in the box, yea i think it could work. we have missed a penalty box poacher for years. He could do well. But he is getting old and struggles with injuries/fitness, no way is he a replacment for RVP. No way. If he comes in addition to other bigger signings then it would be good. As the only january signing which is supposed to make us feel better then AW and the Board can go f**k themselves. GUNNER 4 LIFE

michael owen, a great player in his day for liverpool
but getting players who just in the end be on the treatment table is not what we need. owen would be good nehind RVP but where would that leave chamakh or vela
i used think owen was amazing

Calm down atika, dont go off on a rant, it hasn’t happened and might never happen (There’s always one). Anyway, can’t see it happening, no place in the treatment room for him.

Not sure what to make of this? He would be a useful addition to the team for cup games but not as a replacement for RVP. If the board think that signing Owen will replace RVP they are wrong. He is the only world class player we have left. AFC do whatever you have to do to insure this man is in an arsenal shirt next seaso in wenger we trust.
AFC till the end
F$%$&k the board.
