Arsenal transfer rumours June 4th – Gourcuff, Toure, Koscielny, Joe Cole and Assulin
It has been another busy day for Arsenal transfer news in the papers, some of it positive, some not so good.
We’ll start off with Yoann Gourcuff, who has been widely tipped to bbe Wenger’s marquee signing this summer. The Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud, who isn’t happy with the way that Arsenal poached Marouane Chamakh anyway, has categorically stated that any Arsenal move for Gourcuff is simply an invention of the English press.
He said: “I’m not going to comment on anything from the English newspapers,”
“Today, I have received no offer for Gourcuff or anybody else for that matter. We know what the English tabloids are like…
“Fabregas was going to Barcelona, everything was done, and I just saw Wenger say that Fabregas will stay in London. I will not be drawn into this game.”
I’m sure I read somewhere that if Arsenal meet Gourcuff’s buy-out clause, then there is little that Triaud can do to stop him moving, but you can be sure he will do his level best to prevent it happening….
Yaya Toure is another that is linked with Arsenal every single year, and now his agent says he will definitely be going to the Premier League. I actually don’t want it to be Arsenal. I know he is a good player, but him and his agent just seem like such mercenaries……
The rumours regarding the L’Orient defender Laurent Koscielny seem to be gathering pace, and today it is being said that Wenger is going to offer Armand Traore as bait, as well as Francis Coquelin, to try and persuade the French club to drop their price. This one could be a live one, as he is exactly what Arsenal need, but then why doesn’t Wenger just play Traore and Coquelin instead!
The latest on Joe Cole seems to suggest that all negotiations on extending his contract at Chelsea are off, which means he will definitely be leaving Stamford Bridge. But for a change the reports are saying that Cole doesn’t like the idea of a one-tear rolling contract, and is concerned that he could spend most of the season on the bench. He wants to move so that he can play every game of the season. Is that likely to happen if he moves to the Emirates. I’m not sure……….
The Barcelona youngster Gai Assulin is another player that is out of contract this month, and it is before mooted that both Arsenal and Man City have offered him the chance to move to the Premier League. He may have been a promising youngster, but is Wenger (or Mancini for that matter) really going to be interested in a player that Barcelona are rejecting. The Spanish giants don’t think he is good enough for them to offer a new contract, so why should Arsenal…….?

i think we should keep fabregas and buy gourcuff and they they could play along side eat other in midfield, oh yh and also sell denilson also i think we should invest in one top class 20 mil defeder and anoth at about 6-8 mil as back up, i would also like to see us buy buffon or reina, reeina is the best keeper in the leauge as he shared the golden gloves with chech but look were liverpool finished compared to chealsea

tbh jacob why would we need another world class midfielder we would have to find a way to play arshavin gourcuff song chamakh fab nasri rosicky walcott rvp and 4 defenders already f*ck denilson he can go hes like a piece of glass in a concrete factory i like gourcuff i think he is zidane reincarnate but if cesc stays i dont see him getting a lot of games and if we get joe cole i think we will see eboue leave tbh but i would prefer to see eboue leave cole join denilson leave gourcuff join

I don’t usually read any transfer gossip in the Summer, but I did read this article for some reason. It’s pretty informative about Gourcuff and I’ll watch that one with interest. Yaya Toure a mercenary? Which player isn’t when it comes to transfers? I can only think of Kaka as being the only player who isn’t (you have to after he turned down the offer by Man City). Sol Campbell and Sky Andrews were notably mercenary before joining the Gunners.
Gai Assulin a reject? Come on, isn’t it the same as Fabregas and Fran Merida? Were they rejects?
Joe Cole is technically good on the ball, extremely good and he’ll be a great addition to Arsenal.
Personally, I think we would EASILY win the league next season with the players as we have now – with the addition of two class Centre Halves and a much better goalkeeper.

Are they(Traore and Coquelin)are going on loan or they are going to be sold?On http://www.arsenal-serbia.com I read that Coquelin is going on one-year long loan and that TRAORE is going permanently + 7 mil.We should get Joe Cole because he’s free.Only thing that scares me is that we haven’t been linked with any GK for a few weeks,I trust AW about everything else.

Put it this way we wont get Gourcuff, we wont get Melo, we wont get Cole, and if wenger keeps doing his usual crap trying to get players by offering less than what is asked for, we wont get this other boy from Lorient, Arsene also said and I qoute ‘i will have all my deals(2 or3) done by the start of the world cup, as this will cause fees(transfer) to inflate. Well maybe im wrong but the world cup starts next week, so a busy week for the wenga boy. Tho i think not.

Buy Gourcuff anyway, get rid of Denilson and Eduardo, buy Cole, Gallas will leave so bring in Koscielny and Chygrinsky, get rid of Fabianski bring in Schwarzer. Fabregas will stay for another season because Arsenal will make it too hard for Barcelona to sign him.

i have always said cesc and gourcoff in the middle with song and maybe yaya but i’m thinking what happens when the ACN comes cos we cant afford to loose both players at the same time but it would have been fantastic have them both but i guess wenger can find another solid DM from europe or south america then get rid of traore/silvestry/senderose and almunia to raise extra cash as well as create space for new players

Also why can’t we sign both cole (on a free!!) and gourcuff!! AW hasn’t even touched the transfer kitty nor sell anyone yet!!
I won’t be surprised if he only signed 2 FREE TRANSFERS during the window (chamakh & cole) and spent 10 mil on a defender and says “we are ready”. The rest of the money in the transfer kitty will be used to show the board how good he has managed the funds!

I would absolutely love to see Gourcuff a Gunner. That would be a super signing that would provide additional comfort when Cesc does eventually leave in a year or two.
We need a goalkeeper. Whether it is Buffon, Cesar, Green, Schwarzer, whatever, we need one. I’m not as down on Almunia as most seem to be. But Lukas is subpar and I don’t want to have to rely on Almunia every game.
I’m not overly concerned with the backfield. We need big help but Wenger will work his magic and sign some reasonably priced defenders who will flourish in his system.

Calm down about Gourcuff, Arsenal will only make a move for him when Barcelona start talking real talk and not this retarded way of trying to unsettle the club into giving Cesc for nothing. Besides, I doubt we will break the transfer record that much just to replace Cesc, not Wenger’s style, I see Wilshere or Nasri playing in that role, both playing that role, WIlshere playing from time to time, It’s Wenger’s way. Overall No one is certain about Fabregas, I for one, am tired of this Barcelona and Fabregas talk, they have succeeded in tiring us out and wanting him to leave if it is this much distraction. I honestly don’t want Yaya Toure anymore, there is something not right about him coming to us anymore

Joe Cole is a very interesting prospect, free, quality, ENGLISH and has rejected Tottenham. Only problem is i feel someone will not get playing time or be axed, or he might just be the replacement for Fabregas, which isn’t bad, but does that mean WE will not get Eden Hazard to cover Nasri’s role on the wing? Joe Cole vs Eden Hazard…hmmm, I’d prefer both, both we will only look at bringing in only one of em, and i’d rather it be Hazard.
Kosceilny sounds very real, just Wenger’s type of business, he’d rather go for this guy even if it cost as much as Kjaer or Cahill, Wenger likes to take credit for being the one that made a player into a superstar, not unless it is necessary. Unless the star is wanted by, well no one but Arsenal. In the case of Arshavin, Barcelona didn’t want him, and no one in the Prem wanted him that much, so Arsenal broke the bank, slightly to land him a day after the window closed.
Gai Assulin is EXACTLY how Wenger likes em too, young unwanted or little faith by other clubs, almost FREE! But if Man City or someone else is looking, Wenger will not look there.
WE WILL NOT SIGN EDEN HAZARD BECAUSE HE IS BEING LOOKED AT BY EVERYONE..Can’t believe Wenger will not sign this boy.

i agree with some it’s no point signing toure as Song will certainly stay 1st choice and we need a non-african for when he has to go to ANC. Also Barca will look to screw us over fabrigas and if he doesn’t go neither will toure.
We need for definate 1 GK 1 CB and 1 DM anything else will be bonus, cole would be great addition plus english for fifa’s new rules. metzelder would have been great free transfer esp if Campbell stays to help our youngsters like djoreou (who i can’t spell but think will be v.good) there is not very many quality defensive midfielders out there though which is the problem. is it worth buying one just for the sake or waiting for a good one to be available?

In other news, Wenger missed the boat to sign Gaetano D’Agostino from Udinese. Fiorentina snapped him up for a chump change 9M. He would have made a very good acquisition in central midfield and Song could partner Vermaelen and our defensive woes could have been averted. Not only can D’Agostino sit in front of a defense and be a ball winner but he’s very much like Melo or Xabi in that he has an exquisite range of passing.

this could be the best summer ever if we get assulin, cole fro free, and we already got chamkh for free, that at least is 30-35 million to arsenal’s saving account, I would use that money to give a better paycheck to RVP. Toure could play good as gallas did, but he would create the same problems out of the pitch like gallas did, and we don’t need it, song is a great great player, and this would affect him. Gourcuff should come to give us the edge in every competition. Now, eduardo and rosicky will have to chose if they want to stay or go, they won’t get too many minutes as this looks. And in defence wenger should buy 2 or 3 of Mertesacker, Cahill, Richards, and Koscielny; maybe chygrinsky as part of the deal if fAbregas leaves, he should stay though.

Every gunner will agree that we need players that will make our club look more competitive than we were last season.This are the kind of players i think can make a difference when they come in. 1.AKINFEEV 2.KOSCIENY 3.GOURCUFF/MELO (if fabregas should leave) 4.HARZAD. With this players nothing will stop us from winning a trophy next season.

Arsenal deffinately need atleast 1 class defender. Gallas should go. Sell eboue, eduardo, raise some cash. I cant see them gettin Gourcouf but maybe cole. My team would be Hart, Clichy vermaelen, maybe hangleand, sanga. Fab song nd nasri in the middle, walcott or cole nd arshavin on the wings and vp up front.
