Arsenal transfer target vows to stay in Spain

Posted on October 17, 2012 by Bob

Arsene Wenger is to be handed a substantial amount of money to spend on players, if you believe what you read in the newspapers, and rumours are circulating about what position and players it will be used for. Top of the list seems to be a striker, with Arsenal being linked with a large number of players such as Fernando Llorente, Robert Lewandowski and even Radamel Falcao.

One player who will not be joining the Gunners, apparently, is Falcao’s team mate at Athletico Madrid. Adrian Lopez is not talked about too much as all the media focus on his Colombian strike partner. Adrian is no slouch, however, he scored 11 goals in the Europa league alone last season.

The 24-year old Spaniard is quick, clever and seems like the sort of technically gifted player that Wenger likes. The player has stated his desire to stay with Athletico, however, and so Wenger, along with Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham, can strike him off the list.

“My first season at Athletico was amazing, it was the best year of my career.

“Athletico is very special to me and I hope that we can continue like this.”

With Falcao almost definitely on his way, whether in January or the summer, perhaps Adrian is looking forward to getting a bit more of the appreciation from the fans and the media.

lulz at Arsenal fans still speculating on top names!

None of the players above will be wearing an Arsenal shirt.

Seriously, is this the first time Wenger has been ‘given’ a huge transfer budget? What don’t you guys get yet about AFC transfer policy? Why bother discussing again and again this pointless drivel.

I bet a chicken dinner come the transfer window this so called war chest will disapear. Then after the window closes Gazadis or Hill-wood will come out and say there is a 50 million war chest again.
    Same old story.
I for 1 dont expect any signings in the summer.

Arsene will not sign anyone when everyone knows he has money in his hands. So i am confident that it will be in bank even after the season ends, unless he finds real talent or someone leaves or failed to secure atleast a silverware.

Iv herd loads of Arsenal players pledge that routine then money seems to change it all and we wave goodbye. Nothing is certain until the window closes and since it hasent even opend yet these interviews prove nothing.

Lewandowski has already been tapped up by United, Falcao will be fed to Chelsea or City whoever throws him and his club the bigger bone. Llorente on the other hand should be viewed as a possible target as well as my wanted option Huntelar.

  13. Sam says:

It would be fantastic if Arsenal get Llorente but will face an intense competition for him from the other premierships giants and can’t see Arsenal wining, for obvious reasons!! So don’t raise your hope very much.

  14. Awesome Gunner says:

I only think wenger will sign if we get rid of Arshawin,Chamack and The Squid. As wenger said in August. We have a big enough squad already with some players that almost have no chance of first team football because of the big squad.

If Walcot goes we will sign 1 player.

Otherwise guys we can forget about it.

Gazadis and Hill-Wood only covering themselves up. Both are making the promise that can’t be fulfilled. They don’t want fans to talk or say negative things about them. And am very sure that they can’t give Wenger a pounds to buy player. So as a Gunner, am not expecting them to buy any player.

  16. GunningGooner says:

As if Falcao will be coming to Arsenal, its pathetic to even suggest it and the author threw away all his credibility with that comment.

Yes, Mr Wenger, the most stubborn & focused manager in the history of football is going to throw away 40 years of experience and spank 50 million on one player, completely emptying the bank account of everything he has carefully accumulated over the last decade or so and try to create a one man team mentality all over again.

Arsenal are heading in the right direction again AS A TEAM!

If we sign anyone I would expect AW to ship someone out first, probably theo which is a bit of a let down, however you cannot have a player laying down the law to the manager or the club.

I want him to sign but there is no way we should cave in to any individuals wage demands.

Footballers are too precious in their own eyes these days. ‘Oh but i’m special and I deserve £100,000 every week, keep those ticket prices high so I can take all that money and place it in my already overflowing bank account.’

    @ashendren

Couldn’t agree with you more. Same old story. And it’s always pinned on Wenger – “he has the money if he chooses to spend it” is the same things that is said every time. I bet it just isn’t as simple as that. Hence Wenger holds onto his cash for when he has no option but to buy – eg. Losing RVP and Song at once. At least he was able to somewhat pre-empt it and buy Podolski and Giroud, which meant when Cazorla appeared as a possibility, he was also able to buy. Smart man AW.

  18. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE US REALY BOLSTER THE TEAM/SQUAD WITH THIS 35 MILL.BUT I DOUBT VERY MUCH IF THIS WILL HAPPEN.BECAUSE HALF WILL BE BANKED AND THE OTHER HALF WILL GO INTO THE BIGWIGS DEEP DEEP ALREADY WELL LINED POCKETS.AND WE WILL BE TOLD THE USUAL CRAP THAT ARSENE DOESNT LIKE TO SPEND IN JANUARY.BUT I DO HOPE IM WRONG….

Let’s all wait and see what happens leading up to Christmas. I definitely think we’re heading in the right direction. There are holes which we could fill, not many though. A gk and left back to add competition wouldn’t be a bad think. If rosicky, frimpong and wilshere can get back fit, I think the midfield across the park is as strong as any in the prem. definitely stronger than utds. And we all know maybe a centre forward could help us, someone proven. I feel we can mount some sort of challenge at least.

Oh one other thing. I hate when people write their comments in either bad English, and even worse, upper case lettering. Why do it?

All this talk on here about who should come to Arsenal drives me crazy!! I would love to see a host of players come to Arsenal but what’s the point of writing about it! Wenger knows who he wants to bring in, its not like Wenger gets to his office in the morning and logs on to justarsenal.com to see who he should buy in Jan according to the “scouts” on here! Let’s leave the signing and naming and speculation down to Mr Wenger he will guide us in the right direction, and just stop with all this rumours PLEASE I want to read about our team NOW not how it might look in 2-3 months time

  21. Invincibles nice (1) says:

The fans that believe that their is no chance in Wenger purchasing anyone in next window are forgetting that the horses mouth himself spoke of it during summer, after he recruited our three attackers he said he was looking to bring in one or two more, and if it does’nt happen now it will happen in the next, i take him at his word, especially given that he thought we might need two, and now with walcott set to leave it looks like it will be two at least.

Love it to be Lewendowski and now that manure have no need for him with them opting for rvp, hopefully it means us standing a better chance in capturing his signature.

Couldn’t agree with you more mate, we’re not going to buy big and that’s a fact!
We have an archaic wage structure in place that says no £25 million + plus player is going to sign on the dotted line. The only people who gain anything out of all this speculation are
    1. AFC because it keeps fans interested and diverted away from the real issues that surround our club.
    2. The players and their agents.

Just reread all the transfer rumours and possible signings from previous windows.
