Arsenal turn down loan move for Squillaci – Wenger hoping for permanent exit
It is being reported today that Arsenal have turned down a request from West Ham Utd to take the 31 year-old French defender Sebastien Squillaci on loan. The Hammers recently had Manuel Almunia at Upton Park for a month while Robert Green was out injured and Sam Allardyce was hoping for a similar deal for Squillaci.
The ex-French international was a panic buy by Wenger last season but didn’t settle in the side and never won over the Arsenal fans after many poor performances. Arsenal tried and failed to find a buyer for him in the summer but are hoping to have better luck in January.
The reason Wenger turned down West Ham’s request is because of the UEFA rules that only allow a player to appear for two teams in any one season, and as Squillaci has already played for the Gunners in the Carling Cup, Arsenal won’t be able to sell him in the winter transfer window.
Almunia is also for sale in January (reportedly for just £300,000) but his loan at West Ham won’t affect any sale as he has played in no senior games for Arsenal this season.

F*ck Hazard. He has apparently clearly stated his desire to ruin his career at Real Madrid. We have the Ox, he’ll be just as good if not better. Cahill has proven this season that he certainly wasn’t worth 17m. If we can get him for under 5m with six months left on his contract then go for it, if not forget it. There are better defenders for that money elsewhere in Europe. Squillaci is a good player, you don’t represent a nation like France and clubs such as Lyon and Seville without being so. But clearly not suited to either the Premier League or Arsenal, but possibly both.

I don’t care about players comming in i just want 2 know squid, denilson, almunia, & bendtner will never where an arsenal jerzy again(add 2 that injury prone diaby & rosisky-if they can’t prove fitness along with players who were once good or never have had a chance a.k.a chamakh, vela, djorou, arshavin and even the new guy park chu young-unless they prove useful otherwise they r hogging our wage budget)………oh n plz collect all their wages n give them 2 RVP so he retires with us then i can sleep at nite n arsene can worry about who he can bring in but more than anything i want a winter CLEAN OUT. then a winter shopping spree

Sell him, I’m glad it seems that is what Arsenal want to do, 50k a week! wow, use that wage on something much better, also will allow Miquel more playing time to develop.
Almunia for 300k, is a good incentive for small teams to take him away, although again at 50k a week!
100k a week is freed up, perhaps to be used to help persuade rvp to remain at arsenal.
All you people on here saying buy Gtze, Hazard, Pato, podolski, Messi, Ronaldinho, Zidane….this won’t happen, we may sign one and at a stretch maybe 2 players in January.
The most likely player to move to Arsenal is M’Vila, he has stated now he is ready to leave Rennes, and his teammate and friend has stated he wants to play in the Premiership….it could be said the second player to arrive could be a striker. Though Chamake may still be given his chances to improve his confidence.

hazard and gotze both flopped in the champions league. that tells you they are just kids just like they ones we have ie chamberlain,aneke,ryo,ozzyakup still learning so i don’t see wenger breaking the bank for any of them.

We have Song, and Frimpong, and Coquelin…yes, but only song is proven to be quality. Frimpong is still not the finished article and there has been talk of a loan move similar to that which saw Wilshere become the player he is today.
Also Coquelin is lucky to be still at Arsenal with Wenger saying on Arsenal.com, that he was very close to letting him go. The loan move to Lorient was what changed his mind, however Coquelin is getting itchy and is beginning to call for more playing time.
I think M’Vila is a far more accomplished player than Coquelin. Arsenal have also been linked with him for as long as we have been with Hazard…so it seems genuine. He is also French and French players tend to choose Arsenal over any other premiership club…
