Arsenal face Blackburn at the Emirates on Sunday in a game they are expected to win to keep pressure on the leaders at the top of the table. With Chelsea and Liverpool playing each other, Arsenal will have a chance to make up some ground.

Unfortunately Arsene Wenger will be without Eduardo again as he was forced to play him against Olympiakos due to Nicolas Bendtner’s car crash last week. But Bendtner will be available this time around.

Wenger also says that Walcott will be in the squad, but Theo himself has said that he is not ready to play a full game at the moment, so he will probably start on the bench.

Manuel Almunia’s chest infection seems to be taking forever to go away, but Arsenal fans won’t be upset to see Vito Mannone back between the sticks after playing a blinder against Fulham last weekend.

Wenger said today: “Unfortunately we lost Eduardo after he came on (against Olympiakos). It was a gamble to play him and unfortunately his muscle injury got worse.

“He will be out. But Walcott and Bendtner are available. Manuel Almunia is not far. I will assess him on Friday or Saturday but he looks unlikely to be ready.”

Carlos Vela got his second run out near the end of the Olympiakos match and is close to full fitness, while there is more good news for Arsenal as Lukas Fabianski and Sami Nasri are both expected to resume training in a couple of weeks.

Once they return that will just leave Denilson and Djourou as the only players on the treatment table if the team can avoid any further injuries in the next few weeks.
