Arsenal v West Brom team news – Carlos Vela returns, and Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs and Traore will play
The great news for Arsenal fans is that Carlos Vela has recovered from his ankle injury at last and will be playing against West Brom in the Carling Cup in midweek.
The other Arsenal team news is that Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs and Traore are also scheduled to be in the team according to Arsene Wenger. Theo Walcott and Andrey Arshavin are also hopeful of being ready to begin there transition back to the first team in this game too. The team may be mostly reserves but with those seven stars in the side they will hardly be a weakened side of youngsters that Wenger normally puts out for the Carling Cup games.
Vela has been out injured since the summer when he was with the Mexico national team, and there has been very little news on his rehabilitation coming out of the Arsenal treatment room, so this snippet will be greatly welcomed by his fans who were expecting him to step up to the first team this season.
Theo Walcotts return has been put back many times already but he is confidently expected to be available, and Andrey Arshavin returned to training this weekend so may put in a cameo performance.
Wojciech Szczesny will take the goalkeepers jersey as Vito Mannone has had a few run-outs with the first team.
Thomas Rosicky could get some more game time as he tries to regain match fitness after his 20 months on the sidelines.
Traore will get his first appearance since returning from his loan at Portsmouth, and Arsene Wenger also expects Phillipe Senderos and Mikael Silvestre to make their first steps up to the first team squad too.
Wenger said today: “You will see Wojciech Szczesny, Ramsey, Gibbs, Wilshere and certainly Vela,” said Wenger. “Traore will play.
“Some experienced players will guide the team like Senderos and Silvestre. But overall it will be a very, very young team as usual.”
It looks to me like it will be a young but very strong team, and they should be able to dispose of West Brom easily if they all play to form.

Team news http://bit.ly/EYlwG
Szczesny
Eboue, Senderos, Silvestre, Gibbs
Wilshere, Ramsey, Song, Merida, Traore
Vela
Renan – Im hoping the same team except either coquelin barazite (up front) getting a game in place of song, and maybe hoyte or someone at RB. Maybe even switching gibbs and traore as well.
It’s tough on ayling and bartley though – I’d have thought one of them would get a game as they seem to be doing very well at reserve level.
coquelin or* barazite
WHAT!!
It will be 4-3-3 same as the first team
I expect
GK
Gibbs/Hoyte -Senderos – Silvestre – Traore
Coquelin – Ramsey – Merida
Vela – Bentner/Arshavin – Wilshere
Hope Randall doesnt play ( or has he been farmed out already) he is a waste
Nope, Eboue would not play here.
Song would not play here as well. Renan is a dick, does he watch arsenal?
It would be:
Szczesny
Hoyte Senderos Silvestre Gibbs
Merida Coquelin Traore
Walcott Vela Wilshere
Thats way harsh.
Gibbs is more likely to play midfield surely as he’s played there many times before
west brom hammered Middlesborough at home 5:0 over the weekend. I am hoping there will be a turnout of at least 50k at the match to celebrate Arsenal’s victory tomorrow. Great to have Vela, Walcott and Arshavin getting back into the team. I have missed walcott play for a while now, so it will be great to see him in action when he does eventually return. Hope his confidence is high…
If we have arshavin on the pitch, we will be more likely to win as he will give the team that much needed self belief that they sometimes lack. The talent is there in abundance, its just belief and confidence to be added to the mix.
Good news on the loan front. Jay Simpson scored both goals for QPR over the weekend in their victory. Nordveit played a full 90 mins in the bundesliege against Bayern Munich, so that is quality experience for him. Looks like confidence is picking up in the younger players again, and as a whole, I think Arsenal football club is on the ascent generally. This could be a big big season for Arsenal. Keep believing, and support the cause. Thanks
