"Arsenal want Yaya Toure now" says agent
It has been a longstanding rumour that the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was keen to bring Yaya Toure to the Emirates to join his brother, but now that Kolo has left to join Man City, it seems that Wenger wants his brother to replace him!
Yaya’s agent has discounted any chance of joining up with Kolo at Man City as he was not happy with the way he was approached by the new big spenders, and also said that although Arsene Wenger wanted him now, Arsenal could not afford to take him to North London.
The agent of Yaya Toure, Dimitri Seluk, said yesterday: “We had offers from big clubs, I don’t think there is a top side that does not want him, but Barça wanted him to stay. This season, though, he is not playing enough and he is not happy with the situation,”
“He plays in the big games but this is not enough and he wants more consistency.
“Jose Mourinho was interested in him when he was at Chelsea, and Arsène Wenger wants him now at Arsenal but while they play good football they do not have enough money. Ferguson likes him at Manchester and they along with Chelsea are the teams that interest Touré. He would not go to Manchester City because he is only considering really big teams and of course those that are in the Champions League. We ruled out City anyway because they tried to negotiate with us in a bad way using his brother.
“He likes English football and wants to be at a club which plays good football like Manchester United and Chelsea. There will be no movement in January as he will be playing in the African Nations Cup but he will make a decision probably in April or May.”
We all agree that Yaya has been a star right through his career, but i personally think he is just a little too old for Arsene Wenger to really want him at Arsenal. It sounds to me that Toure is looking for one more big payday (or maybe his agent is!)

This sounds like not him but his agent is looking for a big payday. But it would be great to have him @ Emirates. His maturity will bring some sanity to the situation and he will provide that all important cover that our defense needs badly. And if we buy him than we might be able to get him cheap. so i believe that we should go 4 him now….

If Arsene is interested in the player that means he can afford to buy him. After all Yaya is not worth 30M. I have feeling that Arsene and Arsenal are not interested at all all agents like to link their player with Arsenal for some reason
We do not buy players of his stature, besides it wouldn’t matter much if we did, the team will be hard pressed to win anything with him or without him, it’s a flawed side.
If Yaya joins the team, he will also be away at the africa cup of nations along with Song. I prefer Song to Yaya Toure anyhow. Song plays the Arsenal way. If we bought Yaya, I would be disappointed to see him force Song to warm the bench. I say promote Craig Eastmond or Coquelin…to play alongside Denilson as holding players which then destroys our “6 attackers” system a bit. Dilemna!!!!
I don’t think this is a serious rumour. Like someone already pointed out, the only reason to sign a holding midfielder is to provide cover for Song while he is off at the African cup of nations. So it doesn’t make sense to sign a midfielder who will also be away at CAN.
Besides Wenger doesn’t want someone to replace Song, he wants someone who will be act as cover for Song. He’s more likely to sign a younger midfielder, or use Denilson, or promote Coquelin or Craig Eastmond.
