Arsenal’s Champions League Prospects – A Bookies View
One game down and five to go in Arsenal’s Champions League group campaign this season, and after a good result in Dortmund two weeks ago the group should really be theirs for the taking. Shouldn’t it?
If you look at the online soccer betting, you will that Bwin are offering 16/11 (2.45) for Arsenal to win their Group, and VCBet are offering just 1/3 (1.33) on the Gunners to qualify for the round of 16. Blue Square and 888Sport are offering 5/2 (3.50) on Arsenal failing to qualify, which does not even bear thinking about.
How about Arsenal to top the group and Dortmund to come second? Boylesports are offering 13/5 (3.60) on that happening, and for Dortmund to top the group and Arsenal to come second 100/30 (4.33) is available. For Arsenal to beat Marseille to top spot 4/1 (5.0) is on offer, and for the French side to top the group ahead of Arsenal 11/2 (6.50) is available.
SkyBet and Corals are offering prices on when Arsenal are most likely to be eliminated with 5/2 (3.50) available for an exit in the round of 16 and 3/1 (4.0) on offer for a quarter-final exit. For a semi-final exit SkyBet are offering 6/1 (7.0) and just for reaching the final odds of 16/1 (17.0) are on offer this morning.
When it comes to winning the final the bookies have a wide spread on Arsenal. SkyBet and Betfred are offering 20/1 (21.0), with Corals offering 22/1 (33.0). Sportingbet are offering 25/1 (26.0) and Bet365 have 28/1 (29.0) available, but the best price of all is 33/1 (34.0) which is available wit Stan James.
For a dream final of Arsenal/Barcelona 888Sport are offering odds of 22/1 (23.0), and for a Arsenal/Man Utd final Blue Square offer 40/1 (41.0). For an all London final against Chelsea 66/1 (67.0) is on offer and for a final against Man City 80/1 (81.0) is on offer.
For Robin Van Persie to top the goal scoring charts SkyBet offer just 14/1 (15.0), but Bet365 are offering a much better price of 25/1 (26.0). If he continues his scoring form of 2011 who knows what will happen.
I know it is early stages, but it is interesting to see the difference of opinion amongst the bookmakers. It appears as though they are finding Arsenal difficult to predict as well right now. What prices, if any catch your eye this morning?
