Arsenal’s injury list grows with Walcott and Fabregas
Arsenal gained another three points last night with the 1-0 victory over Stoke City, but it has yet again come with a price. Theo Walcott was stretchered off and is now certain to miss the Carling Cup Final, while Cesc Fabregas suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury but the extent of the damage remains to be seen.
Wenger said after the game: “Walcott has an ankle sprain and he’s out, for how long I can’t tell you, but for Sunday he is definitely out,” said the manager.
“Fabregas has a hamstring problem but we will assess that tomorrow, tonight it is impossible to say how serious it is. We will know more about it tomorrow.”
“It is of course a concern that he (Fabregas) is injured but it can happen unfortunately. He was very upset, I am as well, but it is not his fault and it is not my fault, it is part of sport. It’s strange that it happened early in the game but we have to face it.
“Theo is disappointed of course.”
The big defender Laurent Koscielny missed the Stoke game with a back injury, and Robin Van Persie is due for more tests on Friday to see if he can make the Cup Final.
Abou Diaby suffered a calf injury last week, but Wenger is still waiting to find out if it is serious or not, while Thomas Vermaelen is still out for an uncertain period as well.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that Fabregas and Van Persie will be okay to make Wembley this weekend, but with their previous history it is a big worry with so many important games coming up……

Fab was precautionary. Am sure RVP is not injured. Wenger just wanted to rest him because of the stoke threat(you all kno of his glass ankles) walcot’s case is complicated but he’l be ok. Its also a chance for the assassin to show wat he’s got! Take it easy gunners

I also get the same feeling, Marrtin-kenya. Kos was on the bench on Sunday. I thnk Wenger induced forced rest on them, then cheat to hav evryone off his back 4 nt fielding th best plus Kos really needed a break. We need not worry too much, Rambo n Diaby r back, AA23 and Rosicky seem to hav got their groove back and we did gud wen V.Persie was out at the start. Chamakh wil soon find form when the time is jst right, like Arshavin did. Hope Wenger lets Fab4 and Walcot rest til th Barca game.

Njen you are right PLUS after weekend we have Ramsey back too. for Sunday instead of fab and walcott read arshavin and rosicky. hope RVP is there as we are always more dangerous with him in team but chamakh will do good job, nice assist from bendtner too. Also keep denilson away from 1st team all he does is foul in and around our box and give bad passes

this is all looking too familiar but lets not get carried away. even without theo we should be ok in the cup final. nothings been said about how long they will be out so lets wait and see. fingers crossed they are both fit for barca away.
