Arsène Wenger Names Successor
While it may not be happening soon, Arsène Wenger has confessed whom he would like to succeed him at managing the club when he retires. A former player from his time in Japan: Dragan Stojkovic
Wenger signed a new contract in 2010 that will see him manage the team until 2014 after which he doesn’t see himself being the coach any longer saying: “At 65 I will certainly move to some different job, unless I still feel like I feel today”.
It is clear that he places the long term future of the club above his own ambitions, he said: “What is important is that the club is in good hands, whether they are mine or someone else’s. Whether I personally leave on a positive or negative note is a little bit less important”.
And with that in mind he has spent time thinking about whom he wants to replace him when he does retire from team management.
Stojkovic played under Wenger at Grampus Eight in the J-League and Wenger believes he is the right man for the job saying: “I would love Stojkovic to be my successor, there are a hundred reasons for that. Our ideas are the same and we both strive for perfect football. I knew he was going to have teams playing attacking football with many passes”.

total disrespect to Pat Rice. He knows Arsenal better than anyone at the club, played more than 500 games, knows what it means to play for the greatest team in the world, being Wenger assistant for years. Maybe the board should give Pat a chance, could not think of anyone better than him at the moment, he will show these bunch of softies and spoilt players what it means to wear the red and white, to fight till the end, to be proud, play pretty football doesn’t guarantee us success anymore, it’s time for a change.

I guess he wants a successor who will more-or-less continue the existing “buy low sell high” policy.

Typical he signs players we don’t know and now we have to experience it with a manager! I was hoping for a manager that Wouk come in and change arsenal to Andean that spends money on positions that need sorted out instaed of someone that will be the same as wenger. Wait he’s gonna be worse than wenger!

Arsene would be hard to replace and whoever takes over will struggle to match Wenger. Our coach of the decade will be around for the longest possible time.

@Diyar completely agree, adam kemp would be great!! haha
Wenger just makes me laugh sometimes when i think about him….People say ‘buy mertsacker’ etc. etc. about wenger buying and being suceeded by well-known characters but all he ever does is mention someone nobody has ever heard of!!
Oh the adventures and mystery of being an arsenal supporter…I love it…..
Don’t you agree?

He knows the club very well and can do a good job.

Adam Kemp talks a lot of about this and that. Why isnt he a manager himself?
He thinks he is better then Wenger.
