Arsene Wenger pleased that Vermaelen has bucked the trend
Arsene Wenger thinks that the fact that Thomas Vermaelen has bucked the trend of Arsenal players wishing to leave the club and has committed himself to a new contract is proof that things aren’t all doom and gloom at the Emirates.
The Frenchman is very pleased with the attitude in the dressing room at the moment, and hopes that the news about Vermaelen will give the club a boost ahead of tonight’s Champions League match against Marseille.
Wenger said last night: “What is important is that in our environment it gives a different message,”
“When you listen to people it looks like an exodus with everybody leaving the club but we are a happy club.
“We did not have the start of the season that we wanted but the atmosphere inside the club is very solid, very united and very positive.
“We want to turn the results round and the fact that some players extend their contract at the moment is a positive sign for us.
“We are unified and that is down to our mental strengths.”

It is certainly good news that at least one player has announced he is happy to stay at Arsenal. We can now just hope that he gets fit very soon to help the Gunners move back up the table!

great news screamed when i heard he signed..am 4rm Nigeria nd i dare say d arsenal fans in englnd are nt doin thier jobs..d atmostphere @ d emirates is notin 2 write hom..about rite nw i xpected fans to attend games with banners urging VP to sign a new contract..but all dey do is go to games nd sulk..just wonderin wu d leader of f aresnal fan club is..rooney wntd to leave last yeaar…d fans played a part in him staying..as 4 wenger nt playin park is simply wickedness..try playin Vp in afree role nd play park upfrnt..bench theo nd play AOC..even if he makes mistake we kno hes learning..but theo has had it all nd seen it all nd he doesnet luk like improving.
