Arshavin – Arsenal have no class!
The outspoken little Russian striker Andrei Arshavin has put his foot in it again, and criticized the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for using himself as a centre-forward when he is only 5ft 7in.
He also goes on to say that third place should be considered as a success for Arsenal, considering the “class” of the first team. He indicates that Chelsea and Man Utd have more quality in their sides.
“Third place is where we stand today, and that is already a great success for Arsenal when you take into account the class of our eleven players,” he said. “Of course, we try to win every match, but class is class.”
“If Arsenal want to become champions, how can they select Arshavin as centre forward?” he continued. “I am 173cm (5ft 7in) and it suits me, but next to the big centre halves of United it is very difficult to fight for the ball, especially in the air.”
He was then asked if he was happy to criticize his manager in public, and he said: “It’s from frustration,” and then apparently refers to Wenger’s failure to bring in another striker in the transfer window.
“Van Persie is injured and unlikely to play again this season. Eduardo is injured too, but he may be ready to face Chelsea. We are in a difficult situation when it comes to recruiting players.”
Arshavin has never been afraid to speak his thoughts clearly and loudly, and he can easily point to his comments before the season started, when he said that Arsenal “needed two/three players” to compete for the title.
Has he gone too far this time? Does it look like he will be moving on this summer?

I don’t see what the problem is, Arshavin is only repeating what Wenger has said…that in the absence of RVP we need a striker.I should think that Wenger is just as frustrated as Arshavin that he was unable to find anyone that convinced him enough (or was available) to sign in the January transfer window.

Utter nonsense. This is a guy who was let through so many times and who because of poor shooting and vision could not score. Many moments were reminiscent of the wasted chance at Aston Villa when he could have passed to Wolcott but decided to go for it alone. If you are striker or a top offensive midfielder and you cannot take advantage of the absence of Ferdinand and Vidic and score some goals and later you moan about the size of Brown and Evans then Bwana you should reevaluate the sort of player you are. The problem is not that Arsenal did not play well. It is that they did not take their chances when they had them and so lost the momentum to United who took their chances even when they did not have them as was the case with the Nani goal. It is nonsense!! You have a great manager who gives you chances week in week out, believes in you, put in his head in the pillory for you, all you have to do Mr. Arshavin is take your bloody chances when you have them and stop moaning about the size of Brown and Evans, two defenders that you clam kept on at bay even when they are not at all top defenders in the league. So you tell me how come you scored at United when United even had better defenders on the field. Simple man! You took your chances at United and so you scored. Take your bloody chances man, take them and keep the momentum. When you fail do externalise blame; look at your bloody failures. Nonsense!!

I really support arshavin, infact we should even pray that we don’t loose the third position. AW always think his calculation is right, when we lost rvp he was putting his hope on eduardo and brenthner and today we are all disappointed. He sold players and instead of him to use the money to buy players he rather prefer it to be decorated in the bank, wenger, should by now knows that he doesn’t have a goalkeeper if really almunia is his no1. I only pray that chelsea should not disgrace us on sunday. Finally, wenger only prefer signing players he can shout at and those that cannot challenge him. Arshavin is a selfish guy with an oversized view of himself. I said it after the man U game where we could have been at least 2 up if he had passed, and dont tell me he did not see Fab and Nasri on both occasions or Walcott against Bolton.
To also come out and say this before a large game against Chelsea I think is the end. I would bench him and offload him in the summer if i were Wenger.
But mark my words, He wont make it in Barca or Real or any of the top five teams in Europe, he is Good, but certainly not as good as he imagines he is.

I reckon some of you are more of Arsene Wenger fans than Arsenal fans. And i don’t recall any season where Denilson has played up, he sucks, period! Diaby and Song showd flash of their potential and we got frustrated at their inconsistency or inability to play what they could play. Denilson never showed a bit of class! Arshavin is a Great talent. Only Cesc and maybe RVP are in his class on this team. Of course not every player on a team can be top class, but we need more. Players like Denilson and Almunia are so shitty that even AA’s and Fab4′s abilities can’t make up for them.
