Arteta and Wenger want to repay Arsenal fans at Schalke
Arsene Wenger has praised the Arsenal fans for their unflinching support recently, but knows that he owes them some better results. We nger and his vice-captain Mikel Arteta aim to start repaying the Gooners tomorrow against Schalke.
Arteta is demanding an improvement from the Arsenal team, knowing that the Champions league game in Germany will not be easy, but Arsenal have the ability to win. Anything less that 100 percent effort will not be acceptable, as Arsenal try to get the season back on track.
“We’ve got another massive game again. We lost against Schalke at home, which was a big disappointment, and it’s going to be a really tough game in Germany.
“We have to bounce back. I think we have to show how much we want to win it, and go there and show big attitude.
“I have no doubt about the attitude we have in the dressing room, and the desire. I think the attitude was good (against Man United). We all kept trying, even with 10 men.”
I think that Arteta is going a bit easy on some of the Arsenal players, and hope that behind closed doors there are some harsh words being given out. You cannot fault Arteta’s commitment, but there have been too many players recently not doing enough.
Arsenal have a great chance to boost confidence and qualify top of the group if they can beat Schalke tomorrow. The Germans lost at the weekend to a Hoffenheim team who had not won in four games, but they will be giving everything to beat Arsenal.
If it is true that Kieran Gibbs could play tomorrow, that would give us a massive boost and will cheer the fans up before a ball is kicked. Happy Santos is a liability and proved on Saturday that his attitude is all wrong.
Podolski has not been his usual self recently, and it could well be because he is worried about Santos behind him. Gibbs will give the team more confidence and solidity, allowing us to focus more on going forwards.

I still think we’ve got a decent enough team to challenge for something this season, we’ve really not been playing well at all as we all know, but i honestly believe we can turn it around. People keep calling for Wenger to leave, but who exactly could replace him? Every other manager who is on his level or higher ia tied up to another team.
Personally, i’d like to see Arsene really make some shock moves in January. People talk about Falcao, Adrian, Isco etc. but, how about some real statementa of our intention to challenge? Saurez from Liverpool (bad rep i know, but a quality player non the less), Phil Jagielka (so much better than Santos and decent cover for Gibbs), Nani (supposedly out of favour at United), Reina (Liverpool seem to be favoring Brad Jones at the moment) Fellaini (just a strong, decent player).
We all know deep down that Arsene will never have the funds for Falcao or Neymar, and spending 20million plus on a player from abroad with no prem experience is even more unlikely than him spending 20million on a player full stop.
But maybe signing decent players from premiership rivals with good experience may be something that Arsenal fans could hopefully see.

would be a phenomenal replacement bud, but so many people are in the same mind that Guardiola is the man to replace Ferguson when he steps down. I’d love to see him in the Arsenal hotseat, but i genuinely believe that taking over at United is where he’s headed unfortunately.

Said this before shalke and man utd games -we got no chance and I’ll say it bfre tomorrow’s game too!! This is not out of anger..it’s just an objective opinion. Yes go and thumbs down me ..but it’s by no means easy for me to accept this . It’s a lot harder to be impartial and we can’t afford to hope for improvement -we must strive for it. And yes this means recognising and ACCEPT your weaknesses . How else can you facilitate improvement? Wenger still thinks we could have got a draw at ot and this kind of appraisal at then end of each game doesn’t facilitate Improvement. All of expecting arshavin and walcot to chnage around the season are just as deluded as the manager!! We need better players then we have right now ,pure and simple.

I agree mate, we’re not good enough. I said it a while ago and got nothing but thumbs down, fans on here seem to be totally blinkered to the fact that we’re not playing well at all. After Reading i said we wouldn’t win against United and got thumbs down and abuse and even told i wasn’t a real fan.
In my opinion, people like us who actually see and speak out about our teams poor performances and sub standard players are actually the real fans. We see the good, the bad, the wins, the losses. And are still proud to say we’re Arsenal fans.
The fact is ladies and gents, if Arsenal down’t improve, we won’t be in Europe. If Arsenal aren’t in Europe, Wilshere, Sagna, Vermaelen, Podolski, Giroud and all our other big namea will leave. If Arsenal have no big names, the club will freefall.
We must demand an imrovement in signings, performances and boardroom backing.

For arsenal to win tomorow,wenger needs to get d selection and formation rightly.d 4-2-3-1 formation wenger is playin is isolating d point man,letting him get marked easily.if wenger plays 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2 formation,it will treat our opponent defence and it will be difficult 4 central backs to mark out our two Attackers.In epl 4-4-2 is mostly played and much effective than 4-2-3-1 formation.wenger has players he can pair upfront to give him results.a good example,d reading match dat he later added 1 more striker to make it 2 upfront,it worked perfectly 4 us.wengers ego is killing arsenal,when did any arsenal fans see wenger watching his opponent match,so as to plan how to beat his opponent.dat shows dat wenger is nt ambitious to win anything than qualifying for champions league.mourinho,fergie will go to watch there nxt opponent match,so dat they can plan ahead bt wenger will never.he believes wat he had taught them on d training ground is enough 4 d players.my biggest worry is wenger doesnt effect change on d pitch when d formation they are playin is nt workin.he just sticks to d 4-2-3-1 formation and waits 4 magic to struck.poor wenger dat is why he can never win any trophy.

I hate suarez but he would be perfect for us he drags centre backs all over the pitch and enables midfielders to break into the final third, we need a pacey front line like henry or anelka someone that can stop other teams back fours from pressing us to high up the pitch because they are terrified of our pace in behind, SPEND SOME MONEY!!!

The problem about our team is more physicality, here i have suggestions for AW:
1- Bring back Bendtner, buy a quality and strong CDM like diaby, a quality LB.
2-Change formation to 4-3-1-2 or 4-4-2.
3-Sell useless players.
4-Arteta should wear the Armband.
If all fit i wanna see the following team after january:

‘clark says’ I agree with what you are saying to a certain degree, but in one breath you are saying we are not good enough (which I totally agree with) and in the other you are saying that if we are not in Europe our big names will leave. Surely the fact that we are not good enough is partly done to our ‘so-called’ big names not being good enough. Or are you saying that Wenger and Bould are not getting the best out of them?

Anybody that has actually watched Arsenal on a regular basis will know that there has been virtually no improvement over the last few years. Lets not forget that before RVP had a great year we were forever dominating matches against teams but failing to score. Last season, thanks to him, we scored and managed to reach the top 3 and this season we are scoring goals throughout the team. However, despite the start to the season we have the same old problem, defense! Our defense has been bordering on diabolical for a few seasons now and for some reason Arsene and the board refuse to accept this. In addition, our creativity in midfield is crying out for a like for like replacement for Song. The signings we made are working out well and will need more time to gel, however, we simply must purchase a couple of quality defenders, a midfield general and a top quality goalkeeper. The goalkeeper inspires all those in front of him, something we have been missing since Seaman. People can defend Szczesny and Mannione as much as they want but they are not good enough to be No.1 keepers for any team aiming to challenge for the major trophies (and I am not saying that we are currently in a position to do so). Having said all that, so far this season the best partnership I have seen is Giroud and Walcott. Play them against Schalke and we might just get something out of the game.

Well said that man. I have been trying to say the same thing and each time I get told I must be high, blind or both. The team are going through a bad patch and need the fans to support them. Granted there are some players that many of us, including me, believe are not good enough for the club. Every club has them. I was very proud of the supporters on saturday and their support of the team.
The team will come good. We hope it will be in time to climb up the league table.

Put the Spanish connection Cazrola-Arteta in AMF for one game and Wilshire in DMF. In the last Champions League game we played with two holding midfielders for some reason. Wilshire is better suited as DMF and more of a replacement to Song than Arteta is.
Left flank Arshavin, right flank any of three from Eisfeld,Walcott or Jenkinson. Upfront we have to try something different so Podolski will play there.

I really hope that he can come back strong with a team that can meet his own personal bests as manager.. That’s gonna cost $$$ for top players though –> Usmanov/Dein required urgently!! @DAN @CLARK i think yiz are both wrong as pep is going to manc with his old set up already in place, also pep would need mancs money so would flop at the Arsenal without all those star players he had at barca, i think that there would be a slim chance of him joining manu except fergie wont be stepping down anytime soon, also i think that che would have a shot if it wernt for his old pals at manc and the chance to write a hole new european and domestic future with manc not really having any sort of success before last seasons coin toss

Must say that i was more dissapointed with Giroud not hitting the target from our corner in first half more so than the glaring missed oppertunes early in our season
and if he hadnt been leaning back wildly belting over also himself being sooo one footed our league pos would look very acceptable
i cant believe i am saying this but if wenger isnt going to use Walcott in spearhead pos in case of injury then no sale in jan well then i think that he should consider using Chamack to see if he steps up then motivating Giroud to do likewise himself
like i said before the manu game it is our strikers who are in dire need of improvement also every chance these days being most crucial than ever as we dont have a striker who can pull a goal out of a hat
i were annoyed by Girouds comments before our last game when deflecting blame on to our defensive game in suggesting we need to improve this area, he is not wrong but Arsene already said as much himself and everyone knows this already, it is his own game he needs to consentrate on as his performances thus far have cost us points
he really needs to take a chapter from Drogbas Dzekos book and start bullying becoming problematic for defences
i hope he doesnt get the Song and others complex in thinking that playing for the Arsenal must mean he is a beautiful playing player instead of rolling up sleeves pulling up socks using his strength/power and becoming a player that defs dread to play giving them nightmares
