Arteta – Man Utd massacre prompted Arsenal to buy me!
The Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta was bought in the last minutes of the summer transfer window, along with Per Mertesacker, Andre Santos, Yossi Benayoun and Ju Young Park, in the days following the 8-2 defeat to Man Utd, and although Wenger denies that he was “panic-buying” Arteta believes this was the reason he was brought in.
He remembers clearly the effect the massacre had on the team but it also galvanised them to improve quickly. “Of course the rout at Old Trafford was very, very painful for the team.” Arteta said.
“I could see that clearly in the players’ faces when I joined.
“But we did not lose belief. We kept our confidence and told ourselves we could still get out of trouble.
“It worked well because the philosophy of the team improved and then so did our results.
“It was also just a few days before the transfer window closed and it prompted the club to act by signing new players, including myself.”
So even the players believe they were panic buys!
Arteta himself is currently out injured, and he believes that the current glut of players on the treatment table have given Arsenal a set-back, but he thinks when everyone returns they will get back to winning ways, and can still finish the season in the Top Four.
“We have a decent number of points but a lot of injuries, many to important players, and that has really hurt us.” he continued.
“I believe the injured players will be back in time to help our challenge. It’s important we end up in the Champions League positions.”
Important, Mikel? I think you’ll find it will be a “disaster” according to Wenger! He said: “For me it would be a disaster because I want to play with the best,”
“We want to be in there, in the top four, and to play in the Champions League. Anything else would not be good enough.”
So all we need is for Arsenal to beat Man Utd tomorrow, get all our injured players back next week, and win every other game until the end of the season. Seemples!

Although u was never our first choice to replace fabregas..but u have won our hearts with exellent performances..we love u arteta..get well soon..we need u..!

How i wish you had been at Arsenal three seasons ago and played alongside fabregas in the midfield, we would have had an inista/ xavi combination too. But poor wenger would never buy at such time. Keep up the gud work mikel.

We love Arteta, I can see why the Toffee’s thought so highly of him. It’s nice to hear someone say how much they love to play for Arsenal. I prefer him to Fabregas who lets be honest didn’t bother to play or care for Arsenal last season. All these signings seem to have a been a positive influence. Glad we got shot of Nasri for Gervinho and Arteta for Cesc. Wish we Could have got a better and a more long term striker rather than Park for 2 years. Also would have sold a few players that are not performing and bought in extra cover in defence. With all these injuries which is not unusual for Arsenal it shows we a lacking in numbers. No more African players please, they are quality players but they always piss off for that African cup of Nations every year. Not their fault but it does hinder our team for 2 months. Can’t wait for Gervinho to come back as he’s badly missed. Again quality and much better player than Nasri.

i think you have been a great asset to arsenal,however if wenger does not spend in january,there will be no champions league next season,we have spent all season playing catch up,yes jack wiltshire is a huge loss,and we are not the same team without vermalen,but the facts are we no longer have a team full of world class players,once we were the invinvables,now we are just a top six team with memories of great nights and hopes of european success,still i suppose there is still the europa league on a thursday night,i hate to say it but spurs have invested in players and now it is paying off,they deserve to make the top four ,they have a great squad and an owner that will spend money.

I’d like another bashing from Man Utd. A 3-0 defeat would be nice. Heavy defeats have proven to be the most effective way to make Wenger spend.

Who are we kidding guys, Arteta is ok and I like him, but he is not nearly as good or dynamic as Fabregas. Wenger is a complete wanker for denying that Arteta and the rest were panic buys. Really, like he had planned to buy Arteta on the last day of the transfer window. Another reason I cannot stand Wenger, because he lies ALL THE TIME.
Even if United thump us, I doubt Wenger will buy any players, and if he does buy they will be panic sub-par players. Either way I hope we get thrashed because the board and Wenger need to wake up and realize they cannot keep skimping on cheap players whilst back pocketing all the profits. The best thing that could happen to Arsenal is to not make top 4 position. Maybe then the board and Kroenke will realize buying good players reaps good results = more money. Simple text book stuff.

People are saying he replaced Fabregas but think about it, he didnt. Fabregas plays behindbthe striker, like ramsey. Arteta can play there but he plays in the wilshere role, next to song. He was bought to replace wilshere when he got injured and add more depth to the squadmwhen he comes back. But rqmsey hqs been quite dissapointing since Chelsea, so when wilshere somes back we willpush Arteta to where ramsey plays and slot wilshere next to song

We have been throughout the bad for seven years now we are not going to just stand buy like morons like you lot and simply watch our club disintegrate into nothing, while the board members are sitting there with full pockets, no way. I am not anti Arsene Wenger and I don’t think anyone should be, however, I am anti arsenal board and want us to demonstrate our ambition with signings and if it takes another mauling well so be it. I love arsenal but the true arsenal the one we lost around eight or nine years ago.

I cannot believe what im hearing from “arsenal fans”!! Anyone who wishes their team to lose cannot be a real supporter.
Stop moaning and get behind the team, and if your not going to then you shouldn’t really call yourselves arsenal. I remember what arsenal were like before wenger came to the club. We had a good defence a Dutch master and a goalscorer (Ian wright who was in the twilight of his career). Bergkamps talents were being wasted as we were a boring boring team and fastly dwindling. Man utd were the Creme of the crop and arsenal fans would have given anything for arsenal to play with the flair that man utd were at the time.
Wenger came in and changed all of that. Veiera, petit, overmars, pires, lyumberg, gilberto, henry, v.persie, fabregas and many more. Had it not been for wenger were would we be? Have a look at Leeds, great history and 10 years ago they were favourites to win the league. Look at what’s happened since.
I can’t believe the attitude of arsenal fans. They berrated Henry the first nine months because he was yet to score, at the beginning of last season the “supposed” arsenal fans were calling for rvp to to be sold as they thought marine chamack was the way forward!! Alex song got so much stick when he first arrived. So many ppl were calling for his head calling him talentless, dead wood and all the rest of it. He is now one of the best midfielders on the league thanks to wenger. Same goes for koscielny. Francis coquelin got stick at the beginning of the season. The boy is gonna be a star for arsenal, and so is Ramsey. Yes Ramsey. I’ve seen the comments ppl have made abt Ramsey and I’m certain that them fans will be bowing to him in a few years time.
I hope the fans on here are a minority and I’m sure that they are. Im a season ticket holder and have been going to highbury and the emirates to watch arsenal for almost 20 years. I remember the days when ppl use to light up Rifa’s on while standing in the north bank and wen the stewards wouldnt dare tell a fan Wat to say.
I go to a lot of away matches and have the opportunity to get to know a lot of arsenal fans quite well and I can say that the majority of our fans are positive no matter what
back the manager and team 100%, which is what fans are supposed to do. Not wanting one of ur biggest rivals to thrash us on ur own back yard. I’m gna be at the emirates tomorrow and I’ll be supporting the team whether we win 7-0 or lose 7-0.

P.s. 3 -1 to the arsenal tomorrow and tv5 is ginna start as well as th14. Arsenal and Chelsea are ginna finish in the top 4. Tottenham are going to drop out, mark my words!!!!
