The Chelsea defender Ashley Cole knows he is in a great team, but he doesn’t think that anyone will ever beat the Arsenal Invincibles record of 49 games without defeat.

“I’m in a great team now but to go 49 games unbeaten is going to take a lot of beating,” Cole said. “It was a bit freakish.

“I’m confident this team can go on runs but 49 games is a bit scary. And teams are getting better, no doubt about that.

“For me, this season’s Premier League is the best and toughest I’ve played in.”

“Cashley” Cole knows for sure that he going to get a lot of stick from the Arsenal fans this afternoon, but he says it doesn’t bother him any more, and he won’t have a bad word to say about his old club.

“Maybe some people’s opinions have changed but you know what reaction you are going to get and you just have to deal with it.

“I’ve gotten used to it now. I’ve just got to concentrate on winning these important games.

“I achieved a lot at Arsenal and I know in my heart what I have done and what I contributed to that team.

“Arsenal was, of course, a huge part of my career – and a big part in my progression to England and getting so many caps so I’ll always be thankful for that.

“I’ll only have good things to say about Arsene Wenger, Pat Rice and the staff there because they started me off.

“And I also know I worked hard for that team, gave them my all and made history with them.”

Of course Chelsea will never beat the Invincibles record. They have already lost two games this season, and after today it will be three!
