Aston Villa and Wolves keen on Emmanuel Frimpong

Posted on December 30, 2011 by admin

Emmanuel Frimpong has broken into the Arsenal first team squad this season, but his chances have been limited thanks to the excellent form of Alex Song and the others in a congested Arsenal midfield.

The youngster definitely needs some games under his belt, and the Mirror reports today that the Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has decided to join Wolverhampton Wanderers in asking to take frimpong on loan for the rest of the season.

The Mirror reported earlier this month that Wolves were hot favourites to take the Ghanaian on loan but now their Midland rivals have decided to enter the chase as they aim to move back up the table.

Frimpong was (luckily?) overlooked by Ghana for next months Nations Cup and Alex Song’s Cameroon team failed to qualify so Arsenal will not lose either of their best defensive midfielders to the competition.

I’m sure Wenger will want Frimpong to get some more much-needed game experience, but can he afford not to keep him on the Arsenal bench just in case (God forbid) Alex Song gets injured in the next few months?

I have no problem with the loan…. we have Wilshere returning from injury, and I think Song will be fine till he returns…

And if ‘(God forbid) Alex Song gets injured’, we can have Coquelin covering for him…..

  2. Joseph says:

Yes let him go to be involved in more matches because for footballers to show your ability you have to get more matches. This will help Arsenal in the next season, he will come back with added experience and confidence

prefer if he stayed, just as a security measure. AW should play him and the ox more often though.

Nope !! we need him ….. especially when our center-backs are exhausted to the brim…and hence injury prone…song will go back… frimpong preferred over coquelin… and to enjoy with Na$ri when city visit the emirates ;)

Prefer coquelin he.is more.refined. i think.he is sllightly ahead due to.already having a loan spell. let frimmy be part of the.deal.that brings darren bent to the club and sees.chamakh go the.other way along with squillaci…..well we can all have a dream

Rather villa than Wolves. He is sometimes rash and going to Wolves with there player attitude to the over physical will not help him progress

  8. layksite says:

i dont mind frimpy going on loan but we must be careful where he goes. Wolves and villa play poor football, cant pass the ball around, play negative football and are long ball specialists. The greatest weakness of frimpy is passing the ball and he need to go to teams that try to do that and they must asure us that he will be used regularly. I dont even mind a la liga club

Frimpong is better and more physically developed than coqeulin to be cover for song in the mean time

I cant tell who is better coquelin or frimpong. They both have their qualities, i think we should loan both of them and buy a new midfielder like gotze or gourcuff. Because apparentely coquelin want game time so this is the best way! The best thing to do would be to loan them to english premier league clubs to get experience

  13. sam says:

loan them both out then sign gotze an expensive foreign teen who will also take time to adapt, can’t speak english and he’s cup-tied for champions league, genius!
i think arsenal are suffering from man city syndrome, buy buy buy!
we have kids better or even stronger than gotze and we’re not playing them. ie chamberlain, aneke.

  14. Dal says:

Loan him out, let him get week on week premier league experience. If song does get injured we can re-call frimpong. By then he should be totally up to speed and ready to roll.

  15. bongo says:

I much prefer the idea of Wolves. Frimpong has bags of strength but he’s still very rash in his challenges and has a quick temper. McCarthy has built a tough tackling but (mostly) fair team, that along with the pressure of playing in a team in the middle of a fight for survival would stand a better chance of being able to channel his strength and determination more positively.

I think he would do well under McCarthy who is a no-holds-barred in-your-face manager than he would under the very negative McCleish.

I really do not care how much hate I get for this. I’m actually getting sick of Ramsey. This kid should not be compared to Wilshire or any other solid midfielder. He has sparks of greatness but for the majority of times I watch this kid piss many great chances away and throw the ball away. The only time I can remember him being a hero was when Arsenal versed Marsaille and he got a 90+ minute goal. However the fact he scored a goal in a game does not negate the fact he pissed all through out said game.

remsey is undergo the same training fabrigas recieved in his 17s and 18s respective which makes him exceptional. This kid @ 20 or 21 is singing out his heart wholly to deliver such for arsenal to be frank the boy is really trying that is why coach is rewarding him with such playing time which i believe is the best way to turn him to world class like fab. Fans before you wrong the boy put into consilderation physical aspect of epl, his age and the horror injury sustained yrs back. Fellow FANS our level of expectation is too high he is still young! How many boy of his age delivered such in EPL? Sight example!
