Baby Fabregas on the way? And Wenger told "second isn't good enough!"

Posted on October 11, 2009 by admin

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has spoken out for the fans, saying that this is the season when the Gunners potential has to be realised, and they have to win a trophy (or two!) for the supporters.

“It’s absolutely our ambition to win a trophy this year. I couldn’t be more clear on that,” Gazidis said.

“Second, third or fourth isn’t good enough. We want to win something this season and we believe we have the squad to do that.”

“We have created and developed a team playing fantastic football,” he added. “It’s wonderful to watch and very exciting at times.

“We’ve spoken about the group’s potential. Now, and by now I mean this season, it’s very important for us to focus strongly on winning something for the fans. They deserve it.

“We can talk about football as a business but, fundamentally, this club exists for the fans and they don’t care about financial reports, they care about what happens on the pitch.”

Sky has also reported that Cesc Fabregas has left the Spain squad “due to a serious family matter”.

I don’t think that the writer has been told that his wife is pregnant, and with it due any minute, it would seem that that is the obvious reason for his leaving the team.

It was even discussed that he may have been withdrawn from the squad before they even met up.

But luckily he played yesterday because he scored Spain’s first goal!

So it looks very like we can expect an announcement from Daddy Fabregas very soon.

  2. John Muhindo says:

yah, yah, yah Gazidis it would be fantastic to get a trophy this season and wenger would have challenged last season`s criticism.

  3. Jim says:

ermmm Cesc’s ‘family matter’ is his sick grandad. As confirmed by his sisters twitter.

Secondly, Cesc isn’t married, she is his girlfriend and I’ve never heard anything about her being pregnant.

  4. Cujo says:

Hahaha robin van persie is the one with the pregnant wife and he was the one who didnt play for Holland because his wife was due very soon. Make sense now?

  5. Jim says:

Yep, seems someone got a little mixed up. You would think people would check these little details before posting these blogs wouldn’t you…

  6. Damn_Gallas says:

  11. Cujo says:

I dont think we should fear injuries this season. In some instances it could solve some problems for us in fact. Some talented players are starving for first team action at arsenal so even if we do suffer an injury, it wouldnt be as bad as last season as we have more than worthy replacements. Hooray for injuries!! LOL!

  12. mark says:

I have come to a conclusion that this site is written by idiots….RVP’s bird is preggers

  13. Andy P says:

Hi Mark – why not create your own website and see if you can do better?

Regarding Gazidi’s comments. They had to be made really to highlight that Arsenal isnt a club that wants to just make profits, but instead is committed to football and the fans…especially given the bumper profits arsenal just made this year and on the transfers front sold players for apprx £40m and bought for £10m. Either way, Wenger got to balance his books in terms of transfers ie money out=money in or close enough since his management career at arsenal began.

  14. yeah chairman gazidis we ve to is a must for arsenal to lift a trophy if not two this present season and fabregas congrat to dad cesc
