Barcelona deny any interest in Robin Van Persie….for now!
The Spanish giants Barcelona have been continually linked with a move for the Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie, and the player himself has often stated that the only other club that he would like to play for is Cesc Fabregas’ team.
So if the Flying Dutchman decides that he wants to move on this summer to win some trophies before he retires then the Nou Camp is the only logical destination, despite the bad feelings between the two clubs.
But the Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has today insisted that they have not made any approach to Arsenal or Van Persie’s agent, and they won’t even consider doing so until the end of the season.
Nothing exists with RVP,” Bartomeu said. “It’s rumours that appear in the papers. We’ve not contacted Arsenal, nor his agent.
“Our focus is now on the Liga and Copa del Rey.
“It’s necessary to be focused on the task at hand and not be distracted by the transfer market.”
Barcelona are currently seven points behind Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, and if they remain in second then the fans will surely demand the most prolific striker in Europe at the moment, and I hate to say it, but Van Persie will probably jump at the chance……

Interesting! The voice of the fans are listened to in other clubs even if they keep winning things year-in, year-out. It is 6+years trophyless at Arsenal, hope our request as fans will also be taken seriously.

Sorry, but I am almost certain he’s gone. When you look at all the circumstances, there’s many more GOOD reasons to move, and very few why he would stay. If we don’t get 4th – I will be 100% certain he goes. If we somehow manage CL next year, our chances improve, but I would still put a tenner he goes to Barca if they come knocking. Such a shame. Let’s hope we have a strong finish, and pray he stays.

RVP will only leave to secure a retirement plan. Who blames him? Wouldn’t you do what’s best for your family? I believe he loves Arsenal, but not as much as he loves his wife and kids. It’s just common sense and a reality we should all face. He’s done his job well at Arsenal and as much as I hate to lose him, as most in here, we should always wish him well and the best of luck if he goes.
Summer will be an exciting time. lots of potential transfers. Wenger stated Arsenal are looking at 30 different players. You’d be silly to think that Wenger doesn’t already have a shortlist for RVP’s replacement. If we keep RVP, that’s better than getting Podolski in the ranks.
In an ideal world, wouldn’t it be great if we could keep RVP, buy Hazard, Podolski, Suarez, Garcia and bring a refined Miyaichi back from the bolton spell in 6 months?

@ Uche Best. How can you win F.A cup when you can’t beat Birmingham in Carling Cup. Wenger makes it look as if there is always a war with Barca when in fact there is a collaboration. Look at this:
Henry, Hleb, Fabregas, Petit, Van Bronchorst, Overmars. Even Pep has been at Arsenal before checking out how we run the club. They have always dealt together and will continue to do business this time on Van Persie. Besides every Dutchman wants to play for Barca.

Ok we can all dream about players we want or would love to see at our club …. But I don’t think AW is far away from having a team to challenge. Our problem is the strength of the squad, which can’t cope once we get a few injuries…
So here we go … Squillaci must go as he just doesn’t cut it….
Arsharvin and chamack are both talented but their time is up ….. So we need to replace these players in the summer ….
A centre back – I still love the look of samba but maybe Bartley will return having matured at Rangers…
We won’t get hazard or goetze as they are too expensive….. So expect Ryo to feature intermittently next season as back up for Walcott, Ox and Gervinho ….
So we need a striker ….. Lots of ideas but more importantly we need to give RVP what ever he wants to stay…..
Lastly we need a proper holding midfielder …. As much as I rate Song, he doesn’t have the discipline to hold the role ….. So maybe a chance for Frimpong when he returns from Wolves….
I believe we have good solid centre midfielders in Ramsey, Arteta and Wiltshire…. It’s no suprise that Arteta’s absence corresponded with our recent results ….. He has been a quality addition….
We have some of our youngsters showing that not only can they step up to the mark, they might have the quality to be top class …. Yenneris, coquelin and Miquel spring to mind ….
Scezceny is rapidly proving himself although fabianski still scares me !!!!!!
The future might be brighter than we think ….. Don’t think we will make the top4 …. But with a fair wind I believe the FA cup is a real opportunity !!!!!
