Barcelona to replace David Villa with Van Persie?

I have just read a crazy rumour that Barcelona are about to make a last minute move for Robin van Persie. The story goes that Arsenal’s wantaway striker has been secretly holding out for an offer from the Catalan giants and they are now ready to make their move.
This has just given me a brilliant idea. Why don’t we make Nicklas Bendtner our new captain? Then, when he leaves we can give it to Squillaci and so on. Okay seriously now…
The waters have become very muddy recently, with Manchester United supposedly overtaking their neighbours Manchester City in the melee to sign van Persie, then Juventus are favourites and now Barcelona are in the frame.
The really strange part of the story is the suggestion that Barcelona are going to put David Villa up for sale in order to finance the deal. Maybe I have missed something but even the most ardent Arsenal and RvP fan must think twice about this.
Robin is very good and has just had the best season of his life, if you forget Euro 2012, but David Villa won the world cup for Spain and has just recovered from his injury. He is loved gy the Barcelona fans and their has been no hint of discord. They are about the same age, however, and Barcelona have got a new manager.
Barcelona have just lost the Spanish title to Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid, and Tito Vilanova is under pressure to take it back. Barcelona could probably sell Villa easily and could probably persuade van Persie just as easily that he would enjoy playing with Leo Messi.
Is it realistic? Only time will tell

Like I said barca are offering pedro+afellay but I would defo prefere villa if we loose RVP we have to replace him with a super star and villa is the man however we should still ask for cash as part of the deal

Make a swap …. they will both be Bench Buddies ( well van Persie to be more now that Xavi is getting older and Fab will one day be his replacement ) …. But Barca must pay the WHOLE MONEY …. not the way they bought Fab ( add-ons plus 25 mil )

rvp is good….he has played only a single season as a top player….
while villa is a big match player he delivered in euro08 n at the world cup
he almost carried Spain single handedly….
villa’s finishing is far far better Thn rvp….
though rvp scored 37 goals last term…he missed many easy chances
n villa can finish with both feets

RVP should have done an Henry sign an extension do one more season and just leave. No one would have been bitter, he for the respect of the club not aired out the dirty laundry!
I still love him and wish him success, I agree the club now needs too take a long hard look at itself. But forget the players we’ve lost the greatest lost was David Dein and Wenger knows it. I fear a return the Rioch days, but I love my club and will support them forever. However, if we fill the current board is taking us into a dark future we need to hurt them where they will really feel it, THEIR POCKETS!

After that injury,i dont think Villa would any better,so a swap wont be wise,just take the 25 million…and try and get some1 younger,Lewandowski perhaps…but wud dortmund sell 2 big players in d same summer.unlikely….i wouldnt even mind luk de jong…i have seen his videos,and he is actually quite good…

I wish people would stop “scouting” potential transfers (replacements) using YouTube videos, haven’t you all realised that they are put there to make the guy look good by the players biggest fans or agent etc.
If I put a video up of any of the ‘deadwood’ players we are trying to sell with just a selection of their finest moments I’m sure there would suddenly be fans on here clamouring for them to be re-signed.
Thinking about it, that’s probably not a bad idea, maybe we should all club together, make a load of videos showing just how amazing Bendtner, Squillaci, Denilson, etc (the list goes on) really are…

That’s a good enough destination for him. Just don’t take any Barca kids in return! Villa for RVP wouldn’t be a bad option. Better than him playing in the PL. Either way, I think RVP’s place at Arsenal in any capacity is untenable after that statement and the manner in which it was made. Agents are the worst thing to happen to sport.

I for once hope the rumors are true. I’d rather RVP go to Barcelona than another EPL team! I’d prefer he went to Madrid so we could swap him for Higuain though. Why do you think Vicente Del Bosque was hoping for him to be well for the Euros, yeah me managed to play a team filled with midfielders, but the doubts people had about Spain in the first few matches wouldn’t have happened with Villa playing.
