Barcelona to target Clichy and Arsenal name their price for Fabregas
The Arsenal transfer news in this mornings papers are saying that Arsenal have told Barcelona that they want £50million for their captain Cesc Fabregas.
The Sun claims that this is the Gunners first admission that Fabregas is for sale, and they have been told by a “Barcelona source”: “This is the news the men in charge at Barca wanted.”
“They now see the possibility of Arsenal cracking and are determined to get their man.
“They hope they can get an agreement at around the £35m mark.”
They also say that Wenger met up with Joe Cole last week before the Chelsea striker flew off with the England team, and he hopes that Cole’s arrival will soften the blow of losing Cesc.
The Mirror believes that Barcelona also intend to make a bid for Gael Clichy to replace the aging Eric Abidal in their back line, and are hopeful that he will also tell Wenger of his desire to follow his captain.
Two weeks ago, the ex-Arsenal star Aleksandr Hleb, who moved to Barcelona but never broke into the first team, dropped a hint that his new club were targeting Clichy along with Fabregas when he said: “I stay in touch with Cesc a lot and it’s hard for me to judge what he should do.”.
“He and Gael Clichy are both very good players who must make their own decisions about their future. But I would advise them to stay.
“It didn’t work out for Arsenal this season but, if Arsene Wenger keeps the side together, they can really go far next year. They play great football.”
Wenger is in desperate need of defenders, and if Clichy follows Fabregas to the Nou Camp it will give Wenger an even bigger headache as he tries to rebuild Arsenal’s back line for next season.

AW has build up an unbalanced team that’s why arsenal must be turned upside down.to many small players in the middle and in the back.these player though can play beautiful football at times cannot cope with the physical needs of the premier.

Barca were right?! What if they tap up our players enough a tabloid will say he is for sale, of course Arsenal will consider offers for Cesc, but only offers which benefit Arsenal first, Cesc, second and Barca third. Not the other way around as Barca seem to think. Arsenal aren’t looking to sell, Barca are looking to buy. Every player has a price, Cescs is £50mil. Not 29 or 30 or 35mil. Don’t have £50? that’s a shame, better start scraping your coins together, looking under the sofa and in your ashtrays and throw toure with your £35mil. Toure wants to go play with his brother? I agree bring in Cole and buy Gourcuff or van der vaart or both if we don’t get Cole, plus cahill, if clichy goes then buy Hart or green

The value of Cesc’s “Golden Handcuff” signing bonus must be added to his valuation, otherwise is a bit rich on Cesc’s behalf to sign the extension, cash his bonus cheque and then say “actually, sell me to barca” any deal must include the value of that money too

The only bit of truth so far, is the official Arsenal statement to the effect that “we have no intention of selling Fabregas”. Everything else is rumour and fodder for media sales.
