Barcelona unveil Sanchez and say Fabregas is next

Posted on July 26, 2011 by admin

The Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu, who has been involved with the negotiations with Arsenal for Cesc Fabregas, was very happy to announce the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at the Nou Camp yesterday and bullishly proclaimed that he would be joined by Fabregas very shortly.

Bartomeu said: “It is a sure thing that we will make one more signing.

“Sanchez was always our number one target. Fabregas was always number two.

“We are discreet and prefer not to talk about signings, but we have time until August 30 to make sure some things happen and I can tell you they will.”

“The negotiations are going the way they are going.

“We will do what we have the time to do and the money to make it happen, although it is true that there is a budget constraint we have to work under.”

In other words, he is still trying to get the Arsenal captain on the cheap!

Has this guy been in a coma or something . What does discreet mean ? Asking even your team bus driver to talk about Cesc and put the interviews on your club website ?

Barcelona wanting Cesc is not a wrong thing, cesc wanting to go is not wrong. What certainly is wrong is not paying enough to get him and to act cheap and indignified in the way you talk about other clubs.

Everything is confusing since there is no possibility to offer Fabregas a better deal, and therefore prove his intentions. Why we have to be so cheap and always selling stars???

If he leaving, then I think it is time to see developments in fronts such as Hazard/Gotze/Parker…. And.. that defender is still missing!

It is the 2011/2012 season, i think it is time to adjust the salary cap and the transfer budget, in the same way they always adjust the dividends and per-share-profit!!!
And then perhaps, players may start pushing for a move to Arsenal. But when 10-15 other clubs pay better and offer proper investment, how can we present ourselves as competitive??

Other transfer window and, Sunderland and Aston villa invest further than we do, it seems that in some time they might get above us… since we are letting them.

  5. cupsui says:

buddy you need to get it clear that arsenal is one the richest clubs in the world. Arsenal is financially stable, and Arsenal still has a massive wage bill.

The one difference being that arsenal is not propped up by some rich oil tycoon/s (chavs and mancs) or loads of debt (as in Manure/Real/Barca). If you’re interested in supporting a club that does things the way they should be done and not just charging around throwing millions of pounds like this is champs manager in real life, make frugal signings that make sense financial and in footballing terms and run a sustainable organisation then by all means stick around arsenal and support a great club that is always in the fight for trophies and champs league (its sucks we haven’t won any for a few years but the fight goes on). But if you’re interested in $$$ and big names and news paper headlines and a revolving door managerial policy (bar manure and perhaps barca) then go support one of the aforementioned clubs and soak up your “glory”.

It is hard for Arsenal to compete financially with the big clubs who throw money about for fun, but its always an emotional ride, always competitive and its football…ENJOY

  6. John Muhindo says:

The story looks not clear How can fabregas be their number two? Wenger gave them 10days up to 30/7/11; How can you talk up to 31/8/11. This is madness to Barcelona guys. They want to confuse arsenal players which will not helpp them. Arsenal is steady. They can withstand all external forces and succeed.

Mr bartomeu,if you or the barca board think that you’ll get cesc for cheap,i can only tell you,it’s wishful thinking, your first offer was 27 million, now that you sold krycik for 11 million you are only 2 million short of the 40 million needed to get cesc,so it should not be a problem raising 2 million more, and cesc is yours, the sooner the better, any chance of raising another 30 million?,and you can take nasri as well

  10. Carmelo pace says:

For those of you who think that i want ARSENAL to break up just because i want cesc and nasri out of the grove,i tell you this, unhappy players are nothing but trouble and a sorce of distabilizing the team, even players getting more money than others its no good,so i quite agree that all players should get the same wage structure.Dont worry,no player is bigger than ARSENAL i saw great players during my 60 years of supporting ARSENAL come and go,and where are they now? so if cesc and nasri leave, thank god for that.

  11. ken says:

With Clichy gone 7 million Eboue 4 million and JET 1 million on there way i make that 12 million made from transfers
In Gervinio 11 million and Jenkinson 1 million so a net spend of zero
    This is a relegation budget.

Good luck to Barcelona in their pursuit of Fabregas who only wants to go home.
But remember this, all you members of the Barca hierarchy, If you want the goods, you have to pay the asking price and the asking price is set by the selling Club NOT the buying Club.

Why can Wenger not put his foot down? Tell these scum rats to pay 50m or shut up and fuck off. This is utterly ridiculously. If, after that, they carry on then report them to FIFA or take these debt ladened idiots to court.

I dont think Cesc wants to be at Barca as much as they say he does… The way I picture it is just as a sort of playground arguement. Like two little girls fighting over their favourite doll. Tugging and pulling away, it seems one of the little girls is tired of it all and is now looking for something in return for this doll before it gets ripped and ruined…

Everybody seem to agree that Cesc can go, but not on the cheap inspite of all the blackmails from barcelona. They get their drivers, mayors, players, tea ladies etc involved and yet said they are descreet!!!! If they have no money, they should forget. If Cesc wants to go by all means , he should pay the difference between the barca off and 40m pounds.
