Benayoun prepared to fight for his place in the Arsenal team
The Arsenal midfielder Yossi Benayoun was one of the few players to come out of the game against Olympiakos with any credit, and he believes that if he makes full use of the chances that Arsene Wenger gives him then he will win a regular starting spot in the end.
The Israeli international is just happy to be given a chance now and again to show what he can do. He was asked if he was frustrated with his lack of starting spots and he replied: “I am not because the team is playing well,”
“They say you don’t change a winning team and we are on a good run so it is very difficult to get into the team.
“The only thing I can do is to wait for any chance I get – it doesn’t matter if it is 15 minutes or I get to start. I have to prove myself any chance I get and I am sure I can do it.
“You come here and you know there is a lot of quality so you want to prove yourself.
“I think in the beginning I started against Dortmund away and played more but then I had a little injury and then the team won three games in a row. This is normal in football that you have to wait for a chance.
“Hopefully the team will keep doing well and maybe I will be more involved. Every player wants to play more, of course, but I know I have to be patient.”
What do other Gooners think? Has he earned the right to play more often?

i dont think he can dictate a game like he used to at liverpool, but what a great proffesional with a great attitude. some might say surplus to requirements but if needed in a big game he offers a safer choice than some of the youngsters in my opinoin who are still learning.
with wilshere still a long way off fitness, song one yellow away from a 3 match ban and arteta and ramsey being pushed to the max i think we could well need yossi before this season is through and we will be glad we had him.

Hasn’t quite earned a 1st team spot yet in my opinion but he’s getting there with some decent performances.

Injury and lack of playing time hav reduced yossi 2 an average player.an all round team player in his liverpool days.age is no longer on his side and we may not get d best out of him again but still very much needed in d team 4 his experience.

This is the kind of attitude players like Bendtner, Denilson, Arshavin and Coquelin should learn from. Stop complaining and whining and wait for your opportunities.

Yossi has always been a very good and creative player and i think his attitude and commitment he is showing to the team is brilliant. He is a player who can help and guide the less experienced and show them how to behave in a professional manner. Give him a years contract….

Benayoun should now be placed ahead of Arshavin.
Arahavin shows he has no will or desire or energy to play for us at this moment.
Playing Arshavin puts the rest of the team under pressure because when he is on, it’s like he’s not there and the team down to ten men for the lack of interest Arshavin puts in.
Dhuorou is a simular weak-link case, reminds me of Cygan and Senderos. He needs to read situations quicker and then perhaps our keepers wont be so error prone.
We need results, not set-backs because set-backs knocks the stuffing out of you and wont help any member of our squad.

Hello follow gooners. What a finish from the Israeli against Olympiakos! Great technique. I’d love to secure Yossi on a permanent deal! I believe he’s a good squad player to have, and he’s very versatile as well! Elz. Gooner till I die.

why pick him bfore rosicky??he more likely as a gervinho backup and drop arshavin to a third option cus he is terrible..or even forth.myaichi third if he doesnt go out on loan which he shud. rosicky more likely to b in the ramsey position, prefered him more than ramsey. jst see hw he cmbine with arteta.good combination.ramsey nt impresive.yet stil cn improve more. bt i jst think rosicky ahead of ramsey.or probably rosicky bought in for ramsey in scond half since he hold the ball better n good vision.impresive combination with arteta evntho wenger dnt see that.
stop saying gve arshavin chamakh chance.or even squid.untill when???arshavin is lazy n dnt wna play for us anymore.chamakh yea quality,nt ddnt suits our style of play.if wenger ddnt bring any striker.please bring vela back. so atleast jst two signings- goetze and vertonghen.

Buy him off Chelsea. Give him a years contract. He’s captain of the Israeli team and his experience is valuable to the young players.
We have great leaders in Benayoun, RVP, Vermaelen, Arteta, and Rosicky, all of which have attained Captaincy in their careers. It’s great to see Arsenal with so many leaders. This is the reason why we’ve been able to turn the season around in 2 months. Come late season, Arsenal looks like a team that won’t perish like the previous few seasons with Fabregas as Captain. As I mentioned earlier, a real leader is one that can be vocal to his players, not only lead by example.

Better than ramsey imo, he’s a battler and one of the few arsenal none regulars who seem to want to fight for the club. i’d happily trade arshavin for him, real talk, attitude alone he’s world class
