Bendtner thinks Man Utd won the title last year!
The Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner finally got a full 90 minutes of football from Arsene Wenger this weekend in the disastrous 1-1 draw with Leeds United at the Emirates, and is hoping that his performance will persuade Wenger to play him more regularly (I doubt it!).
But now that he has been demoted to being a Carling Cup player he is very keen on Arsenal winning the tournament, and he hopes that if the Gunners win it, they can then carry the confidence forward and take further trophies this season. Bendtner expects to play tomorrow night when Arsenal play Ipswich in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final.
He said: “We need to make sure we go there and keep our run going. For me, we have to get to the final of the Carling Cup,” said Bendtner.
“It would be fantastic to win a trophy early on in the season and have something to show for our work already.
“Last season, Manchester United won it and went on to take the Premier League too. Let’s hope we can do the same.”
Err let’s hope not Nicklas. I think you will find that Chelsea won the Premiership and FA Cup Double last season!

Retarded. But he isn’t as bad as everyone keeps saying he is. He is decent, with room for improvement. Handy squad player, but not a starter at Arsenal. At a lower Premier League club like Bolton or West Ham yeah, but not with a title contender.

I’ve heard some commentators refer to Utd as “the champions”. I dont know if they’re making the same mistake as bendtner or if they know something we don’t…

You guys should be ashamed of yourself of demoralising an Arsenal player. He is a full International for Denmark, with world cup experience at just 22 years. Last year, he carried the line in absence of RvP and scored quite a few important goals to keep us in the title race for longer then we would’ve been. Have you forgotten that already? How ungrateful you lot are!
Also, remember that he was injured during the summer and played in the World cup with injury. He didn’t have a proper pre-season and had fitness problems. No doubt his form has suffered.
You said the same thing about Song, Nasri and countless other Arsenal players. Have you not learned? It is allright to not like a player. But haranguing them like this, and booing them does no good for their confidence.

Sam, fair point but sentiment gets you nowhere in football, and in the rest of the world for that matter. That all may be true, but for a player who talks like he does and rarely backs up he is inviting it. Vela cops nowhere near as much flack, but nor does he think he’s the greatest striker in the world. I’m not as harsh on him as others, I see the potential he has and has shown on occasion, but as long as he talks the way he does he will continue to cop this flack until he wins the Golden Boot or something. Tough love.

Why do people keep thinking that just because a player is young they will improve as they get older? Some players hit their ceiling in their low 20s and never get any better. Bendtner was an early bloomer but that doesn’t mean he will continue to grow at the rate he grew when he was at Birmingham.
