Bookies Think Arsenal Will Come Sixth This Season
Everyone has to admit it has been a struggle so far this season. Four losses from seven matches in the league has left Arsenal in fifteenth place, already eight points behind fourth place, and the bookies are now predicting that Arsenal will finish sixth this season, although the cups still provide Arsenal with a realistic chance of success.
Arsenal are now the third favourites for fourth place behind Liverpool and Spurs, both of whom have beaten Arsenal rather fortunately this season with the help of refereeing decisions. Liverpool are the favourites to finish fourth but only just, they can be backed at 11/10 for a top four finish with Spurs just behind at 6/4. Arsenal, after the loss to Spurs, are now 7/2 and that could still prove a big price considering some of the talent left in Arsenal’s side, Arsene Wenger just needs a bit of a respite with injuries. The bookies expect Arsenal to be clearly the sixth best team in the Premiership though, Arsenal are 2/5 for a top six finish, Everton and Newcastle are next best all the way back at 6/1.
The Carling Cup and FA Cup remain realistic targets for the Gunners this season and the bookies favour a Carling Cup challenge over an FA Cup challenge for Arsenal. The Gunners have not won the Carling Cup in almost 20 years but they were runners up in 2007 and also last season and even more priority could be given to the competition this season in order to gain some silverware, meaning Arsenal look good value at 8/1 with some bookies.
Arsenal are rated slightly less likely to take the FA Cup this season, the bookies make them a 10/1 shot currently. Arsenal last won it in 2005 and Arsene Wenger had a great record in the competition in his early years at the club but since that FA Cup victory Arsenal haven’t even reached the final of the FA Cup so it is easy to see why the bookies prefer Arsenal’s chances in the Carling Cup.
Arsenal seem to have been forgotten about a little in the Champions League betting. They reached the final in 2006 and almost beat Barcelona, since then Arsenal have consistently qualified from the group stage but have often been unlucky with the draw, meeting Barcelona too often and too early. Arsenal are 33/1 to win the Champions League, more than twice the odds of Man City who are likely to struggle to qualify from their group, and if Arsenal get a bit of luck with the draw this season then that 33/1 could begin to look very big.

As long as we have current Board, I bet realistic goal is to avoid relegation, loss in Carling Cup final to QPR and not qualify from group in CL. In FA cup we’ll finish in Qtr final to Swansea. Gazidis, Kroenke, Hill-Wood OUT!

I really don’t know what ya’ll are saying..we still have over 30games to play and ya’ll already talking about 6th? Arsenal will still finish Top 4 this season..Seems you forget that the current top 4 haven’t experienced a bad spell this season,which of course they will..Arsenal always start their season in a flying form but finish poorly.why not look on the bright side & hope this season will be different? I’m not saying they would eventually win the league,but I can bet on my life they would finish top 4..PEACE
