The Ox gets big praise from Hodgson and Lampard by TS

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made a start for England as they thundered past Moldova 5-0 in their first World Cup qualifier. The Arsenal winger was praised by England manager, Roy Hodgson and Frank Lampard after his performance last night.

Roy Hodgson released a statement saying, “I was really pleased with Tom (Cleverley) and Alex. It’s nice to see these young players taking their chances and showing they merit a place in the squad. Alex was excellent and also for the first 15 minutes of the second half.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was credited with an assist in the match and certainly did not look out of place before being replaced by Arsenal teammate Theo Walcott in the second half.

Chelsea midfielder, Frank Lampard added, ‘They’re brilliant, of course they’re good enough. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was brilliant. He lit up the first half and it’s great to see players like that coming through.’

The Ox is reportedly set to sit down with Arsenal to discuss an extension to his current contract despite the player having a contract with the Gunners which runs until 2017.  It is believed that the club wish to offer him improved terms after what was a breakthrough first season which saw him make his full international debut.

Oxlade-Chamberlain  made 26 appearances for Arsenal last season, six in the domestic cups, four in Europe and 16 in the league, starting six times. The winger has already featured in two of Arsenal’s three matches this season, starting once and coming on as a substitute in the other. It won’t be long before he adds to his four goals from last season.

@ Gunner for life. I think Wilshere will be England captain before the Ox. Love the Ox though. He is pure class. He has what most English players do not. Flair.

This is why I don’t listen to the media at all Chamberlain,Wilshire,Cazorla,Giroud,Kosielny, are all signed till 2017!!! (and don’t expect our #10 Wilshire to ever go anywhere). Arteta,Diaby & Vermaelen are all signed till 2015 (where by then they’ll be turning 30;or in Arteta’s case 32-33). Szesny & Gibbs want to stay here & came up with the youth team along with Frimpong and many others,I personally don’t see them going anywhere. Oh and we have our youth system & our scouts still in place.

^^ Most premier Legue teams Wish they had this kind of a future team Wenger still Fu*k’n knows.

The big RVP merchandise throw away day

The man has obviously no respect for us so why should we have any for him.No gooner surely still wears his shirt or drinks from his cup or wears his scarf or waves his flag or whatever you bought to support his one great year for us,so why not on that fatefull day he returns to our club playing against us dont you just throw it onto the pitch before the Kick off so he actually realises how he has left us feeling.AFC has to know how this unbelievable event has affected the fans. This transfer cant just be brushed under the carpet…….can it.

Obviously I cant and would not make anyone do this if they dont want to but for me Im still churning this unexplicable envent through my mind on a daily basis, are you.

Ox is starting ahead of theo for arsenal and england the ox on 16 k a week(rumoured) getting a new contract soon so i assume will go up to 50k or there abouts and theo wants 100k??? i reckon he will leave the club wont give him that and he wont sit on the bench either!

I dont see the ox starting ahead of walcott anymore. i think if anything it is giroud starting ahead of walcott. from what i witnessed last week walcott is now competing with giroud podolski gervinho and chamakh for one of two striker slots whilst chamberlain is competing with diaby cazorla wilshire rosicky ramsey and arshavin for one of the 3 attacking midfielder slots. arteta coquelin and frimpong are the men fighting it out for the dm slot. 4132 is the new 4231 and im loving it. its a cross between wengers invincibles grahams boring arsenal and guardiolas galacticos. i know its early days but as u can tell im getting excited.

  14. Tom says:

Great job Ox! It will be interesting since Ox is ahead of Theo in the National now, that has to hurt Theo in negotiating new contract. He wants close to 100 k/week which would easily make him highest paid player on our team. He will have to lower his demands because i don’t see him getting anything close to that and he shouldn’t.

  15. Dan says:

Just simply better than Walcott in every sense. It shows that Roy prefers Ox to Walcott aswell. Ox plays like he’s 6 or 7 years older than he actually is, really mature. Walcott came on in the second half and just wandered about and made a mess of some runs.

Concusion: Extend Chambo’s current contract and let Walcott piss off.

The Ox will light up the champions league this term! With a bit of luck, hopefully we’ll get a better draw this time around once we get to the last 16. Last 3 years we’ve gotten the toughest possible draw (Barca-QF, Barca-Last 16, Milan-Last 16) n yet all 3 times we nearly progressed. COYG

Did you guys notice we didn’t use gervinho or walcott against lievrpool and still dominated. we have strength eveywhere. im sure wenger had it planned. and for those guys who think coq is ready,he got a red card in under 21′s for france. he should be a team player right now.there are many games and he will play. As for sv hating on ramsey, he is 21!! he will play in all competitions bacuase he is decent. he has prooved it. i bet you hated on diaby because of lack of form and now your kissing his ass.

  26. The Gooner says:

@ Twig, interesting opinion but I’d have to disagree. Rooney has more composure in the box and is more hot headed (on and off the pitch) than the Ox. Ox has much better dribbling and speed than Rooney. They both have great vision and ball control though, just Rooney’s more of a finisher while Ox likes to set others up.

@S.H Agree. I think Ramsey has a very slim chance of playing and making an impact this season. He had his chance last season to prove himself but failed. Cazorla, Arteta, Wilshere, and a very in form Diaby should be chosen before him. Ramsey will be a bench warmer and quite honestly I’m glad about it because he quite honestly ain’t that good.

Watch jealous Manchester clubs come sniffing around sooner or later; therefore the sooner we tie him to a longer conract say till 2020 (when he will still be only 27) the better for all of us! He deserves it and his attitude is spot on! His dad has taught him well.

  31. T2T says:

We need several players for each position. Currently, it looks like AW’s preferred XI is:
    Szczesny
    Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs
    Arteta, Diaby
    Cazorla
    Walcott, Giroud, Podolski
Subs from Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Santos, Coquelin, Frimpong, Wilshere, Rosicky, Ramsey, Ox, Arshavin, Gervinho, several youngsters. I hope AW rotates 2-3 players between the games and uses the subs wisely to keep the players both fresh and happy.

If we get a little luck with injuries and suspensions, this doesn’t look too bad does it?

I hope Ox doesn’t play too much! He’s still very young and still developing physically. If we play him like we did with Wilshere then there’s a good chance he’ll end up with stress injuries, like many overplayed young players do including Jack. If he can stay injury free he’ll develop in a world class player in the next few years.
