Cagliari drop Marchetti after transfer request
It is now looking more and more likely that the Italian keeper Frederico Marchetti will be coming to Arsenal as it has been revealed that the 27 year-old has put in a de facto transfer request. Cagliari dropped Marchetti from the side that faced Bastia in a “friendly” last night, but the game was marred by continual protests from the Cagliari fans about the club letting Marchetti go. In the end the “friendly” had to be abandoned after brawls between both sets of players!
A statement regarding Marchetti was posted on the official Cagliari website yesterday which said. “He expressed his desire to leave through the media,”
“The club will do everything to make him happy, so if Marchetti does leave Cagliari, then our first choice will be Michael Agazzi.
“Cagliari are not looking for a different first choice goalkeeper.”
It has been reported that Arsenal have offered 6 million euros for him, but as Cagliari value him at closer to 9 million there is still some negotiating to do, but if the statement from Cagliari club president Massimo Cellino that Arsenal “are the only ones pushing for his signature” are true, then it is only a matter of time before the deal is complete.

but i think, the needs of centre back is more urgently than goalkeeper. Beside that we still have vito mannone. This man from italian too. Give him a chance. Buy mertesecker, and vertonghen. Sell Djourou cause he is more prone to injuries.

Typical – Another keeper who I consider to be no better than we have !!! What’s happened to the talk of the Dutch keeper ??? Another season with lies and another season of maybe 3rd or 4th….Don’t get my comments wrong, I would love to see us actually challenging for the title come the start of May.
Yet again most of us would have paid £ 1400 or more for our season ticket thinking that we have not really made any inroads with signings…Come on I think we only need 3 players – A good keeper that will help along Chesney – world class centre back as I don’t think the new guy looks ready – I know on some sites people are raving about him but the pre season games ( Against poor sides ) he has looked more suited to the side he has just left 2nd division quality – Hopefully he will come good ( Fingers crossed ) and another world class holding centre mid player…
Denilson and Diaby are not nowhere near what we need…They are very lazy and very hit and miss….So to cap off, until I see 2-3 coming in, I feel that we have been fed another pack of shite from the A holes we believe are running our club to its full potential…
