Campbell ready to face Man Utd, but Wenger’s not sure…
Sol Campbell made his second Arsenal debut in last weekends defeat at Stoke, and was thrown on again last night when Thomas Vermaelen was taken off with a suspected broken leg. Now Campbell thinks he is ready for the big game this Sunday, when Arsenal face Man Utd in the crucial title clash.
“I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t ready to play on Sunday. We are capable of winning every game and winning the title so that is what we are focused on.”
“I have been training for a long time so if it comes to it, I will have to be ready,” said Campbell. “It’s a massive game and a great game to be involved in. United and Chelsea will drop points – it will come down to who gets an unbeaten run going. We have got to grind results out now. We have got to get a good result against United.”
But Wenger didn’t seem convinced that Campbell could face three games in a week after being out of competitive action for so long. He said: “Sol has not played for six months and just in three days he had two big games, so I will have to see how he recovers.”
Who thinks Campbell is ready for such a big game?

If Vermealen isout longterm we have to buy on the next 3 days!!! Why doesn’t wenger just splash £15mill on a top right-sided center half to partner Vermealen in the longterm and Gallas in the short term!!! Names as Wenger always says its hard to find the right player…Upson/Cahill/Zapata/Subotic/N’koulou/Monagou????

Of course he will be ready, he’s a premiership quality defender! Sol is a wall, it’s down to the final phase of the 90 mins whether he is fit enough. He’s got the experience of playing against top draw teams!

Wenger will put song in as CB, what a fukin joke, The Scum Spuds land Eider Gudjohnsen as a spare srtiker and we sign 3 new 15 year old kids. I really think we have a huge amount to be grateful to AW for, he’s an amazing manager but FFS we need some cover. AW is just turning into an old stuborn cnut. this season could have been our chance, Mancs stutturing, Chavski one last chance before they all retire, it was ours for the taking and AW being to pigheaded to buy any cover has tossed our chances down the pan……!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you can relax, the fact that he went for a cb in this window shows that arsen is alot more concerned about a cb than a striker. I think if verm is out he will act, last game is the first one in ages we have not scored so im not too worried about the striker situation. We get the goals we need and that is the most important. However CB that worries me. luckily this happend before deadline..

Wenger is a stupid man and I bet he will have to wear the uniform and take the CD vermealen position. So how long shall we keep singing that you should sign somebody who can stand in for Vermaelen. Why dont you draw a cheque for all the moneys in the account and put it in the Central defender position we see is you shall win against man u. Shame on you stupid wenger. i agree wth embryo…it seems everyone , supporters pundits,ex players and even some players (on the quiet) have bee saying we need 1,2 3 or more signngs or all the reasons we’ve all mentioned time and time again for the last 3or more seasons. AW has been a genius for us but sometimes i think hes unable to see the obvious. Perhaps spending 11 million on jeffers has traumatised him for ever.Rooney must be champing at the bit for sunday…..unfortunately

No chance we are going to win now. With Vermealen out injured. Our defence is going to struggle. We were lacking a striker and a defensive midfield, but now we need another CB. Campbell woun’t be able to keep up against man u and song is better in front of the CBs. AW has been too cheap and full of ego…… We have to buy some new players. Arsenal is going to get it against man u…. Campbell is back why don’t we try to get Henry back too.

Campbel is good enough but I think we need a better striker than Bendtner. He is not yet the goalpoacher we need.

I’m getting sick and tired of people criticizing Wenger, especially as he has time and time again proved his doubters wrong. People said at the beginning of the season that Liverpool would win the title, and that Arsenal would fall out of the top 4 and be replaced by Manchester City. Has that happened? People said Wenger was foolish to let Kolo Toure leave instead of Gallas, but compare Toure’s performance for City this season to what Gallas has done for us. People said Wenger was stupid to play Van Persie up front, and yet before he got injured Van Persie was on fire for us (and I’ve been an Arsenal fan long enough to remember 10 years ago when people were saying similar things about a certain young french player who we had just signed from Juventus). And I remember listening to commenters on this very site who criticized Wenger for keeping faith in Diaby for so long, and yet he is beginning to repay that faith. Wenger has proved all the doubters wrong time and time again, so I fail to see how people have the nerve to call Wenger stupid here. He knows more than you will ever know. Wenger knows best.
