Can Arsenal really make it back into the Top Four?
Arsenal’s win over Sunderland this weekend means they have now won half of their 8 games so far, but having won 5 out of 6 home games the Gunners can believe they are coming back into form and still challenge for a Top Four place in the coming weeks.
The new German defender Per Mertesacker thinks it is “vital” they move back up the table. He said: “It’s vital that we reach at least the top four in the league, but at the moment we don’t have the points to speak about that,”
“It’s important to perform well to make sure we move up the table. The supporters have to feel we are giving everything to succeed.
“I am here to play football, to play in the Champions League and I want to be successful in all the challenges we face this season.
“Therefore we have to play hard games twice a week and that’s the challenge of being an Arsenal player.”
The midfielder Thomas Rosicky had an excellent game against Sunderland, and also thinks that the win can be a stepping stone on the mountain of the League table. He said: “It was a very difficult start for us but the season is very long and I don’t feel it is impossible for us to finish in the top four,”
“Every game is very difficult and you have to fight hard. The season is long and there are so many points to play for. Arsenal is a great club that always has to play for the top four. Even if we started badly, it must still be our aim.”
Arsenal’s away form has been atrocious, so if they can only gain a morale boosting win in Marseille then surely they can get a little run together to move on up. Or is it asking too much for them to leapfrog Liverpool and Tottenham into a Champions League place?

i havent seen anything from spurs or liverpool this season to suggest they are top 4 material, liverpool are only four points above us and spuds only 6 if they win there game in hand.
All teams have a bad spell in a season, were having ours now when usually we have it at the end, well id rather we got it out the way and then had a strong finish for once. some of the football we played against sunderland was as good as any team has produced this season, and its not just vp many players at arsenal have great quality, its all about confidence and if we can make steady progress then when jack, tv5, diaby, and sagna come back we can only get better.
the squad is allot stronger than last season, ok fab and nas are gone but truthfully they gave us very little last year especially after xmas, this team is better than last years and look what we nearly achieved then!
Ps dont slag of theo, his goals in both legs against udinesee got us cl football this year so dont be so stupid or ignorrant or narrow minded to write him off after a few dodgy games and you know who you are!!!!

i strongly belive that a win in marsilie and a win over next team i EPL we will be ridding on the wave and go for top 4
as long RVP is not Injurid and Gervinho learn 2 shoot on the goal then we can challange every team in the world

ofcourse we can but its not going to be easy if we can get a good run untill janury and buy another full back and midfielder then we should deffinatly be 4th just need that confidence back

Sundays game showed us that arsenal can play the beautiful game & did so on numerous occasions, BUT again defensive errors crept in & made us look very average….
If the defence doesn’t improve & quickly, top 4 will be just out of reach….

Well personally I think that the only thing that matters is trying to get the most out of every game. Arsenal has a tough couple of weeks ahead and its no time writing off players. Us as arsenal fans should have faith in every player yes including “chamakh”. A top four finish is possible, only if the players played every league game like it was the CL finals. Hoping for the best, the worst has already happened. Its all up hill from here. It is not asking to my from the gunners, we expect that from them and they know it!

We’ll get to the top 4. 6 points from Newcastle, 4 from Liverpool and 3 from Spuds (who have a game in hand). If the boss can spend that 50 million on M’Vila, an attacking mid and a right back in January we’ll have an even better season.

Who remembers Chelsea’s start to the season last year, and at one point there was talks of them winning the league! Keep the faith! IAWT.

Arsenal are 4 points behind Liverpool(who are fifth at the moment) and 3 points behind Tottenham(who do have a game in hand). Arsenal SHOULD make it to the top 4.

If Arsenal can afford to buy Yamm M Villa, Harzard and the other third midfielder, I think Arsenal’ll not only finish at the top four but they’ll challenge both Man U & Man city for the EPL…

im dyslexic and find writing anything extremely hard work, wanna take the piss outa me for that too? why not slag off some wheelchair bound people while your at it or maybe the visually impaired, im sure there opinions are completely irrelivant too due to there disabilitys.sorry for trying to be a fan and support the club through these tough times, ill just go back to saying the whole squads useless, wenger should leave and a top 4 finish is impossible, happy now?

We can make it. Toby, man, I agree 100%. We tend to get heated up after every defeat, and now we are praising RvP so much, he may not play like that every game, and the fans will criticize him as well. You are right about Walcott, but he does not perform out wide, and must be given something to run at. Arshavin also is a supporting striker. We play him out wide and slag him.
We just need a bit more tactical adjustments, and we will be better than we are now.

Are we better than Man United, Chelsea, Man City, Spurs, Liverpool? We have already lost to 3 of those teams, and two of those teams were the least good of all 5. Sorry but I do not see us beating Chelsea or City with our current line-up, never mind beating United our second time around. I know football can be unpredictable at times, but if we cannot beat those 5 teams, there is no ways we will be in the top 4.

my worry is not weather we wil finish in top 4.if we dont then who?.totenham or liverpool ?.not in dis world.what do they hav that we dont hav better ?.we are experiencing our own hard time now.tank God it is hapening so early.believe it or not if any of these teams shuld experience half of what we hav now they wil batle 4 survival in d relegation zone.we shal surely overcome.my only worry is when wil we begin 2 harvest trophies again ?.could it be dis season.something tells me it is not far from now.i keep my fingers crossed…….gunners 4 life.

top 4 are possible, if you asked liverpool and tot fans they will said pretty much worry for the same things. Even their manager havent count us out, why should we. The other managers have show more respect to arsenal and knowing underestimate us will cost them dear. I could bet when we face M.C, M.U, Chelsea, Tot, Liv again their manager sure will said they have no 100% to win over us. Even M.U demolish us before when they come to emirate i’ll still bet they put up a full strength squad.
They could underestimate FC Schalke 04 and put a weaker team, but we are alot better than them even with the crisis we have
