Can Oxlade-Chamberlain replace Rooney for England?
Arsène Wenger says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has a good chance of playing at next year’s Euro 2012 tournament.
Speaking to the press ahead of Sunday’s clash with Sunderland, he said, “He has done extremely well. He needs some time to adapt to the intensity of the game but he has the quality already of top player of Premier League games”. Indeed, after a terrific hattrick for the England Under-21s last week and two goals in as many games for Arsenal, he is proving to be a real handful for defenders.
Theo Walcott will be one name fairly likely to be on Capello’s plane to Poland and Ukraine. His England career really started when he was chosen as a ‘wildcard’ as part of the 2006 squad in Germany (although his snub for the 2010 squad was seen as one of the lowpoints of his life so far).
Could Oxlade-Chamberlain be that kind of option? With Wayne Rooney suspended for the entire group stage – leaving England with Bent, Defoe and more mediocre options such as Carroll and Zamora – Oxlade-Chamberlain could provide the spark that these strikers often lack and he would undoubtedly be so determined to prove himself on the big stage to increase his chances for Arsenal too. Of course, Rooney would be chosen in front of the Gunners youngster but his availability as back-up would surely be extremely beneficial to the squad.
Has he progressed enough so far to be considered or does he still need time?

Let us not overhype the boy but he has the potential to be the next world superstar. He is a perspective of nasri or iniesta but more faster and more inteligent at the same age. Only messi, hazard and rooney can be compare to him at the same age

Can chamberman the ox break into England? Yes, in a few years.can he replace rooney next year? NOOOO!! Simple reason-capello likes youngsters but not ones that are yet to break into d first team of their clubs one year b4 an important tournament.if England need wingers, they have ashley young, stewart downing, james milner, theo walcott, gabriel agbonlahor and lennon.supporting stikers? Agbonlahor, young, gerrard, sturrigde and welbeck.I really don’t think capello will call him up just yet as he has other more experienced options.

No, he won’t be called. It will be Sturridge or/and Wellbeck.

nope! i think arsenal fans should learn from what happened to jack wilshere.
its ridiculous to see stuart pierce and capello using our kids all summer then they end up injured due to playing many games. we pay their salaries and medical bills and their absence cost us games.
personally i will wish chamberlain to have quiet summer and stay fit for pre-season but desperate capello already have eyes on him.
and i hope once he’s called up for england senior he shouldn’t get involved with under 21 anymore.

YES OF COURSE. he’ll play a small part this season but next season he will be a sensation and force himself into the england team.
Probably taking walcott’s space. Adam johnson, Stuart downing, Ashley young, Oxlade-Chamberlain will be our WFs.

Like AW said the lad needs some 6 months or so to gather himself let´s not put more pressure on the boy like the English media does and in no time he´ll start delivering so stop this Ox for Rooney nonsense for the sake of our Ox
