Capello – Wilshere and Walcott are England’s future
The England manager Fabio Capello has confirmed that the two Arsenal youngsters, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott will be starting in this Wednesday’s friendly game against Hungary, and he heaped fulsome praise on Arsene Wenger and his legion of young players.
Capello said that Wilshere will be playing as the main attacking playmaker, in what used to be called the “Makele position”. He said: “I put different players in there but they’d never played in this position. Barry with Aston Villa never played this position. He started to play there only with me and now with Manchester City. But I saw Wilshere play every game in this position.”
“Wilshere is better technically than Makelele. He’s slower than Makelele but when he receives the ball he is more dangerous than Makelele…”
“…The style of Arsenal is a lot of passes. Wilshere wins back the ball, he passes, he turns, dribbles, goes and shoots. I saw everything. The style of Arsenal is touch, touch, touch, touch. Like Barcelona.
“Wilshere is the best young player. He now plays all the time with Arsenal. If you play with Arsenal, you are a really good player because Arsène Wenger likes good players.
“I want to put him in this position in front of the back four. I have to decide because he’s so young, he would stay alone in midfield and that can be dangerous.
“I think he’s mature enough to play this role. He’s a really interesting player. When he started, in some moments he played without big confidence. He was timid, shy. Now every game he improves a lot, he plays with confidence, without fear and he tackles to win.”
“The players will arrive really tired. They play a lot of games before this. I have to change and make six substitutions. But it will be important for Wilshere to understand he will be the future.
“Another thing I am really happy about is that Theo is back. He is playing how I remember when he started to play with us. It was a tough decision leaving Theo out for the World Cup.”
“He was not the same player; he played every time with fear, in the tackle, he was not able to win back the ball quickly. When he turned, his movement was not fast like it is now.
“He is one of the players after the World Cup I thought about a lot. He can play 25 minutes and be dangerous. I made a mistake not selecting him. He’s one of the players who can make the difference. I should have taken him.”
“It was a really difficult choice. Aaron Lennon was playing very well. He was at the top at that moment. I chose Lennon and not Theo for this reason. Lennon was perfect. I decided after Austria training and the Japan game. But then Lennon was injured after two games.”
“If Theo is fit he can play from the start.”
The future is bright, the future is Arsenal!

But he admitted that he was wrong. I respect that.
Add Gibbs and the new crop of Young Guns and I wouldn’t be too surprised if England fielded a team with five or six gunners in a couple of years… In fact, I’d be surprised if they didn’t.

Watching from OZ……Terry, Lampard, Gerrard, Rio, Barry all should have been sacked for the world cup. These are the same guys that couldn’t make the Euro finals yet somehow thought they could win the world cup!!!!! Crazy…That highlights the Arrogance of the FA!
Jo Hart, Theo, Lennon, Albright, Adam Johnson, Sturridge, Gibbs…..even if they went out in the group stages imagine how much better they’d be for the experience!!!
The Tabloids run football over there!

hart , gibbs, dawson , cahill, richards , walcott , wilshire , gerrard , johnson , rooney , carrol . playing in a 4,1,3,1 with wilshire holding . thats an england team , thats the future that should be playing now . i cant believe as a gooner in gna say this but harry redknapp needs to be in charge as he is the only manager i cn think of that would have the bottle to drop all the deadwood and put that team out , as a gooner it does hurt but respect to harry without him england will be stuck in the darkages .

@fresh
Are you stupid? How was he gonna leave gerrard, terry, lampard, and rio out of the wc? England wouldn’t have had any leadership on the field. Fabio just made a mistake by taking players like crouch and wright phillips

england didnt ave any leadership on the field mate dat was the problem , they didnt ave anything on the field actually there was no hunger no desire no effort no ingenuity , no skill , no ideas no sod all . so in answer to your thoughtless remark on hw could he leave those players out i say hw could a national team of only players from the championship ave done any worse . at least they woulda been up for it . we got are pants pulled down by a young german side who only had a couple of players with over 50 caps and the rest were a kids . rcz71 what planet you on !!! coza fools like you these old hasbeens still in our team and stoppin are youngsters coming through

So Jack and Theo, already tired from being first-choice in a crowded winter schedule, are being hauled away from their deliberate training and lifestyle regiments in order to play a meaningless match on a frozen pitch on the other side of the continent. It’ll be lucky if they pick up only minor knocks. At the bare minimum, they’ll miss critical matches.
No wonder Wenger doesn’t care for these national matches.

Just let them play. It will boost confidence and I’d say they will only play 45 min.
If no injuries are picked up it will be good for their confidence as they will be recognized as quality players and not just young Arsenal players with potential.
Good luck to them and their bodies.
