Arsenal linked with young Serie A striker 8

Posted on March 09, 2010 by admin

There are very many stories appearing linking Arsenal with yet another striker, despite the near certainty of Marouane Chamakh arriving from Bordeaux in the summer.

This time at least it is a very promising young starlet from Palermo, called Abel Hernandez, who has scored four goals in 16 appearances for the Serie A side. That may not sound like a lot, but they have all been from the substitutes bench, and he has actually only played the equivalent of four games. For a 19 year-old that is pretty good going at such a level.

Given the impression that substitutes James Milner and Shaun Wright Phillips made during the second half of England’s 3-1 victory over Egypt, combined with the early season form of the currently injured Spurs winger Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott’s performance against Egypt has come under much scrutiny, with many suggesting that the Arsenal man may have blown his chances of making the plane to South Africa in the summer on the back of a disappointing first half performance.

CAPELLO OFFERS ENCOURAGEMENT

Sanchez Watt goes to Southend, and Emmanuel-Thomas goes to hell! 1

Two young Gunners had different fortunes this week, the young Arsenal attacker Sanchez Watt has joined Southend United on loan, while Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was arrested for driving without a license!

The Southend boss Steve Tilson is really pleased to bag Watt, despite him only arriving on a one-month deal to start with.

Tilson told the official Southend website: “He’s played for Arsenal’s first team at a young age and done well and he’s left footed.

“He plays on the left wing, but he can also play on the left side of a three-man attack.

Wenger confirms that Wilshere will go on loan in January 2

Posted on December 09, 2009 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is looking for a top club to give Jack Wilshere some guaranteed first team action in the new year, and is hopeful that a team from the Premiership will request his services.

Wenger said: “I’d prefer a team in the Premier League for him, but a top club in the Championship could be interesting.”

There has been an approach made by Middlesbrough from the Championship, so maybe Wenger is considering that offer, but it doesn’t sound like he will be going to Scotland, where both Celtic and Rangers have shown interest in the talented youngster.
