Chu Young Park Officially Confirmed By Arsenal
Arsenal have officially confirmed that Monaco striker Chu Young Park will join them today. The 26-year-old South Korean was rumoured to be heading to Lille but Arsenal stepped in at the last moment and secured the striker’s signature.
Arsenal confirmed the signing on the official website Arsenal.com and Gunners fans will hope that it’s the first of a couple of signing that will help lift the mood around the club after Sunday’s disastrous defeat against Manchester United.
Wenger told the official site: “We are delighted to have signed Chu. He will add true quality to our attacking forces and will be a valuable addition to the squad”.
Park has scored 25 times in 91 games for AS Monaco and is a former Asian Young Footballer of the Year. He made his debut for his country at 19 years of age and has played in both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. He was recently made captain of the national side after Ji Sung Park retired.
Park said: “I am very honoured and I feel very happy to be at Arsenal. It is a dream to be here and I am really proud to be an Arsenal player. Now I just want to show how good I am and prove myself.”
Park will cost only cost Arsenal £3m because he has to go on a 2 year military duty for his country in 2013, although there may the possibility that he can the police force in 2014.

i like him (everything i’ve seen of him that is) he looks like he gives 110% every match n i’d rather that then ibrahimovich giving 50%, good scouting arsene + his experienced n can challenge theo 2 step it up n become that player we’ve waited 4 him 2 become since the trophy drought began, although he could be amazing cuz 13 goals n 8 assists with the weakest midfeild in ligue 1 is class, adebayor the monkey had heaps of assistance when he was at monaco same with king henry+ henry caps 4 monaco 100 caps n 20 goals, park 91 caps n 25 goals

Man u park never did national service. I think this was because he was part of the South Korea team that got to semi finals of the world cup in 2002 i believe that all got let off.

Amazing how all the Wenger out brigade have gone quiet. He said very early on that Arsenal would do most of their deals at the last minute. They have called Boltons bluff on Cahill who will now leave on a free..probably to us. All along it has been the board who have hamstrung Wenger…hoping project Fabregas would deliver. There is clearly a c change at board level and now they are spending and will spend some more in January and next year. This change will take time so all the anti Wenger brigade..shut up..some need to apologise for the insults they have emotionally spewed up.

Gooners fantastic amazing signings . Went to bed last night feeling really crap but am now a whole lot better. Can everyone please stop mentioning kaka fair enough decent 5 years ago waste of space now completley lost his confidence and we can’t take a gamble on him. I really think there is a 30 mill signing on the way apparentley there was a bid of 35 mill turned down for mario goetze. Lastly delighted for Bolton hope cahill goes on a free next year . Sick of hearing owen coyle say how fantastic he is , when really he has been just putting him in the shop window. Fantastic verm and the german captain centre defence . Happy days

both park and per are captains of there national side, we wanted leadership and experience and we are getting it. one thing i dont understand though is why now? these signings are great value for money and well within are financial means so why werent they done 6 weeks ago?
These sighnings probably wont win us the league but they will stabalise our club through this tricky period, wenger should hold off on big money signings for now and use this season to try the whole squad out so we know who else to move on and then finish the rebuilding job in next years transfer window.
As long as there is a clear plan to move us forward and transparency between board, wenger and fans the club always has my support.

Lets not all get ahead of ourselves. Everyone seems to be content with signings. What we need is quality. Mertesacker & Malouda (maybe) are quality, but the other players we are looking at are not game changers. They are like the bulk of our squad now – ok players, but not the calibre we have sold off to Barca.
If only we would buy a player that lifts our team. Someone like Sneider or Kaka (albeit that the player would want to come to play for us in the first place). That’s part of the problem. Arsenal currently don’t attract stars. I wish we did. Right now we need someone who can lift our team out of the current down-trodden spirit (which happen when we lost against Birmingham in the Carling Cup last year).
We need a leader Midfielder who can rally our team out of mediocrity. (Take the attitude of Rosicky & Arshavin on Sunday for example – they were the experience in our team, and gave us rubbish. As if they were playing for the inevitable). Someone who can inspire our young ones beyond what they even believe they are capable of. (Man U seem to be balancing this quite well – experience with youth).
We are a great club and need 1 or 2 great players to lift us out of this mess we find ourselves in. £3,000,000 aint going to find that player. £20-35mil will. This would actually turn our club around and point us in the right direction. But we all know we will not spend that money on any 1 (or even 2) players. If we do … I will humbly eat my words. (in this case I would love to do that, as it would actually benefit our club for me to be wrong. I just don’t think that will be that case).
I know lots of fans out there will criticise me for saying this right now, but lets get excited about an world class, awesome player joining our team, not an ok one. (Park is OK, but not awesome. Otherwise we are just accepting scraps instead of having ourselves a well cooked feast (metaphorically). Food for thought.

For me it is a no brainer and all for the price of Bendtner & Clichy
i asked for 6 players, now i just want another winger, another box to box midfielder and another attacking midfield playmaker. M’Vila, Sneijder and Hazard in a money grows on trees world.

Maybe we can offer Squillaci to go on military duty instead of Park. He looks like he can make a good soldier, or at least will be better as soldier than as CB.
And about those who are concerned about lille getting mad at us beacause of hijacking this deal, just remember nowadays money is the only thing that counts, if we have the enough money to please them then we’ll sign him regardless of this episode.

One thing I’ve noticed about Asian players is their enthusiasm and fight. We need these qualities especially in a striker. RVP is good but let’s admit he’s a bit lazy. This lad will at least run at them and chase.

@ Gunnersfan! I hear you and we all agree it was way too late for Wenger to start looking to sign players, but it is happening none the less. Better late than never. I really have no idea what was going through Wengers mind. Maybe that 8 – 2 raping at OT finally broke down the man’s ego and pride. Yes if he had prepared the team properly before hand we wouldn’t have suffered such a defeat. True. Let’s focus on the future now, support our boys and dare I say it the manager. He is not going anywhere and is on good terms with the board and shareholders. But we should still make a stink if he is out of line. Part of the decisions being made now are because of fans…I’m telling you now. We are the voice and cannot be muted.

Arsene is renewed for developing star player. He don’t go out and buy star players.
Overmars was a player in the mist of an career ending injury and ended at Arsenal as one of the most exciting winger in the EPL.
Henry was converted from a underperforming winger to one of the league most feared striker.
Veria was a nobody in Italy before he came over to Arsenal and became one of the games most dominant midfielder.
No one even heard of Ljungberg before he move to Highbury.
Cole was just an average player and has became a world class left back under Arsene.
Song, Cesc, Nasir, Wilshere and the list goes on.
We need to spend correctly to get quality players, not buy at any price that other clubs want to sell (Cahill @ £18mil)
Does spending huge amount on a single class player gives you success?
How much goals have a £35mil and a £50mil striker produced so far….
