Chu-Young Park set to face Bolton – Let’s hope he takes his chance
It seems that Arsene Wenger has finally remembered signing Park Chu-Young in August, the Korean looking set to start in the Carling Cup against Bolton on Tuesday.
Despite having been signed for the Gunners for a reported £4 million from Monaco, the striker has been given just one appearance by Wenger. With Chamakh in very poor form and Van Persie needing more than just a 66 minute break like he did against Stoke, Park needs to prove himself capable of being more than just a Vela or a Bendtner.
Some might even argue that Park’s form is as good as Van Persie’s, scoring six goals in three games for his country. Of course, the likes of Lebanon and Kuwait aren’t at the level of the majority of Premier League teams but the fact that Park has been the best player on the pitch for all his recent national games does prove that his talent is being wasted on the bench.
If the worst does happen and Van Persie gets injured, Arsenal simply cannot expect Chamakh to score, especially against Chelsea next weekend regardless of their suspensions after yesterday’s defeat to QPR. Nothing can be guaranteed with Park, but he can’t do any worse than Chamakh. Gervinho and Arshavin are looking better with each game and can knock the ball in for the Korean and goals will come. This may seem over-simplistic but Wenger has got to start dealing with the inevitability of Van Persie missing games.
If Park does well, talk of Arsenal relying too much on the Dutchman could soon come to an end.
Could Park deal with the responsibility?

He is loyal to his players. Chamakh is next in Peking order, even if he is crap. But if Park plays well then i think that can easily change.
What i dont get is why we didnt keep Vela?? He’s awesome! he is like our Sturidge.

No newspaper suggested that Wenger was going to buy Park and Im sure no Arsenal fan knew; it was the manager that went for him and got him. I think he should be the one to know when to use him not the press or the fans as he’s the one working with the players.
I think most people are not patient enough, given time Arsene Wenger will take this great team to where we all crave.
Im sure Park will not disappoint us and the manager that believes him.
IN ARSENE WE TRUST

As much as I like AW, I must say that this thing about loyalty to players has been badly failing AW. Look at other managers of top teams, they are ruthless in dealing with underperforming/mediocre players. AW is too lenient at the expense of the team results. Players like Walcott, Chamakh (Squillachi and Almunnia before) have been consistently mediocre with AW not even considering to bring the other players who could potentially do better (the Ox, Park, Ryo) for thr team. This sort of baby-sitting from the coach makes the Arsenal players soft, taking things for granted, not in the mindset of fighting for their place, brief players with a total lack of competitive spirit (if you don’t believe me, look at how lazy walcott has become! He knows he’ll be a starter, no mater what, so that he doesnt need to work his butt off on the pitch!).

What I STILL dont get is why he has never played in the premier league…I mean, why didn’t he start ahead of Chamakh yesterday? That Morrocan was useless against Stoke

Looking forward to seeing Park play for more than a few minutes. I haven’t seen much of him at all and even though his international goals weren’t against top quality teams, it’s never easy to score on international duty. I really want to see more from AOC, Ryo & Coquelin

Park will need more time to settle in, I know korean are not native english speaker and he might just manage korean and france. Hence the communication and bonding within each players need longer time, i notice his hand has a bandage on his hand during last carling cup. Was he been injured?

Chamakh and Walcolt alway being pick first because the stat show that they have been efficient, the pecking order are down to the performance have been seen and consistency, not just down to 1-2match only. You wouldn’t like your manager fire you because you have just done 1 thing wrong left alone you have been hard working the rest of your year and you did well to get some result.

He’s gonna keep playing him but his goal return is shocking only 2 goals this year! He looks woefully out of form n playing with no confidence at all. Give park more playing time

Park was never supposed to be an Arsenal player. He was only a way to get at Lille for the Hazard deal. I don’t think he’s ever going to play premier league game and with the way I’m seeing things, there’s a chance he’ll be used as part of the deal in January

chamakh needs more playing time..he can score many goals
vela is very poor ..arsenal dont need him..his assist .his play and his promise is not up to scratch
should have got rid of carlos long time ago
park should be given playing time like oxelade we will totally surprised
we however need snijder and marco senna to inject trusts and accuracy and strike and spit passing to our strikers
we nalso need maicon and lucien at the back and villa or pedro with sweinstiger
the dead wood must go… walcott must must go sagna cannot give arsenal trust and dimension up front ..gourcouff was poor in the world cup …bent is a better option
hope wenger sees this

Please be patient with Chamakh and Walcott. There are still a lot more games to come. We will have injuries, and players like these 2 will step up.

Why are we buying players who are considered worse than chamakh. Surely he is as low as we want to set out bench mark. Lets hope Park turns out to be better than Wenger currently thinks he is otherwise we have no alternative to RVP. For that matter I think Bendtner is better than chamakh so why isn’t he the one on loan.

Chamakh played the most shittiest football ever played by a gunner yesterday. Hope AW sells him in Jan.. I was expecting Wenger to start with Ox..That way, he’d also surprise the rugbymen and Oxy is way better than Chamakh.

If a playmaker supplies Ox or Park wth 10 gud balls frm de mf,I can bet each will probably score 4 or more of dem while Charmack will probably utilize at most 1 or 2 if any!I rest my case, make ur pick, esp in a team DAT MUST TRY N WIN ALL ITS GAMES FRM NOW ON TO REMAIN IN DE RACE FOR DE 4th PLACE!
