Chu-Young Park wants out – Should Wenger let him go?
Just before Christmas Arsene Wenger made it clear that Chu-Young Park was now settled in London and ready to step-up to the Arsenal first team when Gervinho and Chamakh went off to the African Nations Cup.
He said: “The adaptation period for him is over now so he has to come in and show he has the quality to play for us,”
“I believe he has the quality. We also have Arshavin and Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is now ready to play.
“We lose Chamakh and Gervinho for January – two strikers. Maybe Chamakh has not played too many games, but he is still a security that we have. So Park has to step up.”
But Wenger instead brought in Thierry Henry on loan, and Marouane Chamakh has returned early from a disappointing Nations Cup, so Park is still continually sitting on the bench. It is no wonder that he is getting more and more frustrated as time goes on and now his agent, Maurizio Morana, has stated that the situation can’t go on much longer.
Morana said: “If the current state continues, we will have to look at the transfer market in the summer.”
“In the English media, it was reported that Arsenal had rejected a loan offer for Park.
“However, this was in contrast to what we heard from Arsenal. There was no loan offer during the transfer window.”
It seems clear now that Wenger is not convinced that Park is good enough to play in the Premier League. Arsenal signed him on a free transfer, so should Wenger just cut his losses and let him leave now on the same terms?

just when i thought at 5-1 or so up wenger would give him a run for confidence, but no he brings in an already expirienced henry? Sometimes wenger’s thinking beats me.

I think it’s a bit harsh to say the guy is not cut out for Arsenal, after all he has only played 3 or 4 games and mostly as a sub.
If though, he is not good enough and wenger let’s him go it will just prove that he was a panic buy.
It has also been suggested that we bought him to increase our asian fan base and merchandise sales.
If that is true then we have probably done the opposite and damaged any chance of increasing our fan base the way we have treated the bloke.

I dont agree for Chu Young Park to go out because of not convincing Mr. Wenger. I think it is good idea if the coach will allow the player to show his ability in some of matches. Then from there any decision will be fair

its hard to let him play atm because we have tough games coming up and we’re not in the Carling Cup no more but if Middlesbrough beat Sunderland in the F.A Cup then play him against them. I do feel sorry for the guy but he’s at Arsenal and its hard for him to play whilst Chamberlain is playing great and also The Prince ( RvP ). van Persie does need a rest but Wenger has henry an established Striker who loves Arsenal.

Wenger Builds Some players career and murders others. If Park gets the chance Ramsey and Asharvin is getting I believe he will do much better or rather we could be able to ascertain how good he is. Believe you me Charmarck’s Pitfall was because he made more use of the bench just as Park is doing now. What then do expect wen suddenly he starts getting chances under pressure.

Dear Fans,
Before making comments, we need to know that at the time Wenger bought Park, the teams main centre of concern was get sufficient experience.
Did Park qualify to be bought in the first place?. Bought at one million Pounds after selling off Arsenal star players such as Fer bregas, Nasir etc. Cheap things are always expensive . This further proves that Wenger’s philisophy is costing the club.

I think its time for marouane, nicky b, squallacci, fabianski and almunia to go… They’ve all had more than enough chances to prove them selves and have failed everytime… With these departures we should sign proven players I think hugo rodiega or odemwingie either would be a good striker to bring in, a creative player like cabaye or petrov would be welcomed then a solid defender samba or verty to sure our defence up when injuries strike… Then next season with some of these players added we could push on for the league or champs league!

If Arsenal doing well, Park will get chance; if Arsenal is on bottom half of the table, Park will get time to play; if Arsenal still have hope for 4th spot. Park will never get the chance. AW will take the risk to play him.

Why wasn’t Park used when we already had a convincing victory of Rovers? I understand Henry is probably still preferred over Park, but the man needs to play. He is South Korea’s Captain for God’s sake. RVP should have been taken off after his hattrick to allow Park a run. I really thought it was poor from Wenger whom I normally trust. There was a camera close-up on Park late in the game and you could see the disappointment in his face of not playing when he thought he had a good chance to do so.
Park desrves to find a club which will appreciate his talent and I fully support his move if it transpires. Arshavin & Chamakh are the players that need to sit on the bench. Park is class, I hope Wenger stops talking about how good park is and bloody give him a fair go to showcase his talent.

Man the way Ramsey has been playing, if I were Wenger i would make him sit in front of goal for weeks and practice his finishing. He has cost Arsenal at least 5-10 goals this season and even some crucial victories. I’m sick of seeing his stupid face and the hands over it when he misses golden chances.

The welshman has to really think about how lucky he is and look at Park, whom I believe would make more of an impact in little time than Ramsey would. I was a fan of Ramsey but his style of play shits me because he prefers showing off with his fancy footwork than focus on getting the ball quick to his supportive cast. We need a direct CAM as Fabregas was. Who needs speed or tricks when you can simply scoop the ball to AOC, Walcott or RVP?

i actually do not understand the rationale for signing Henry. yea he scored the winner against leeds and got one against blackburn. but young park should play ahead of him. really henry is spent force. i thought against rover with the game as good as won AW will bring in park to continue his adaptation process rather than henry. i think arsene sentiments are clouding his judgement

Still dont understand why AW bought him for 3m and hasnt used the youngster. Maybe he has seen he is not what was expected. 3m wasted and at that stage could have upped offer for Cahill who would have been a star at Arsenal.

I think the signing of Henry was more as a mentor type role than a playing role. Henry loves the club and wanted to be involved in some way as well as staying in shape and improving his form for his MLS season. Wenger obviously saw the value of having an iconic, experienced player who knows how to win in the locker room given the early season schenanigans we all saw. Plus the given tendency we have to shit the bed at the end of the season and just drop points game after game and lose ground on the league. Henry, IMO, was brought in to try to curtail all these things and hopefully show the lads what it is to be a professional and have passion and love for a club (not money!).
Park really does have my sympathy as I think he’s far more likely to score goals than Chamakh. Lets face it, unless we start playing a 4-4-2 Park isn’t gonna play. So he’s gonna have to come on as a sub. If we’re winning and RVP (has provided the goals) then it’s likely Park could replace RVP. If RVP hasn’t scored then it’s likely they’ll pull off someone else and have Park come on. But, much like Henry, everyone is gonna look to get the ball to RVP to score and unless Park positions himself perfectly he’s not gonna get the ball.

I am intrigued as to why he has not featured in the Blackburn game where we were leading 4-1, 5-1 up? Couldn’t we have given some breatherto RVP & ensured that Park gets some time ( and more importanty confidence ) on the pitch…
AW’s decisions baffle me at times…he keeps playing a philandering Arshavin ( who is a flop match after match ) and yet doesn’t include Park….

Chu-Young Park is a out and out Striker Ji-Sung Park Midfielder so Brent your comparison is not valid nor is he even going to play in our current formation as we are playing RVP in a loan strikers role with 2 wingers Which Park is not a Winger he would best fit in if Wenger would return to the formation we played when Ian Wright was up front and Bregkamp played in behind in a 4411 RVP would excel in that role while allowing Park (or who ever is played in the striker role) would also benefit from Robin’s ability to setup plays. Wenger has TOTALLY and CLEARLY lost his skills ( if he had any… I am not convinced he was an excellent coach before because we had players who could coach themselves )…
Anyway, my point is, he has an untested player ( Park ) and he goes on the market and bring back the old guard ( which is, if you remembered, contrary to his so cold policies before he got Campbell back from darkness )…
I have red an article on the guardian, saying that Wenger wanted to make sure that we had a £15 millions benefits brink at the end of the season… We have become a bank for the board and it is not going to stop until we fail to qualify for any European cups…
Believe me or not, it is what a major part of the Arsenal fans want. We need a serious chock to see some creative changes…

He needs to have a long hard and honest chat with Arsene and make a decision on that. May not be easy though as from what I hear and read in the media Arsene seems to be terrible at being honest with certain things like playing or not playing players and also on signings.

Hey guys, I am from South Korea. South Korean fans are frustrated by the fact that Park is our captain of our national team, and he has not played at all in months. Because he’s probably completely out of shape, the national team may not be able to use him in a crucial World Cup qualifying match coming up end of February.
There’s been news in South Korea that Arsenal wants to tour South Korea in June. Don’t bother coming here, because a lot of folks here are upset how one of our best players has been treated over there. And especially upset that it’s obvious that Park Ju Yong is thought of just a shirt seller.
Well, it’s true isn’t it? He couldn’t even play in a 5-1 game, when the match was already decided. It’s so sad one man’s career is being ruined like this because of money. Arsenal should never have signed him. The best thing for him would be he be allowed to go somewhere else, even back to Korea where he can at least play, instead of sitting on a bench rotting away and be treated like a stupid fool.
But one thing’s for certain, Arsenal shouldn’t expect to sell many shirts in South Korea. And nobody’s interested in a friendly match with Arsenal in June, so I don’t think that’s going to happen either.

…..is rubbish – he was around 3 million and the fact that he has only taken part in a handful of first team games, i don’t see how he can be fobbed off by fans. If Wenger really isn’t gonna play him, then i hope that the shirt sales cover his transfer fee & wages cos otherwise wenger is contradicting his money-conscious label!!!

Wenger has left C Y Park not out of the starting line up, but even off the bench. I think his tactics are wrong again.
We are in a difficult position in the league and we should be looking to develop some of the players with both experience and potential.
Despite Henry (legend) may have brought 2 goals and big morale boost to the youngsters, I feel that it was wrong to play him over Park as his talents are being wasted not even on the bench.
Clearly Wenger has to go.
Wenger is always concentrating on building and developing the talents of youngsters. Though they are working, such as AOC, we are not contending for the title, not winning any trophies, our team is not feared as in the past.
I am not saying Park will change Arsenal. But it will be a start to get him into match fitness and start using his scoring abilities.
This guy is a 15+ goals a season material, why waste him?
Wenger, I trusted you far too long, now you disappoint some of the hard core Arsenal fans….

I reckon the moment wenger lets park chu young out for a loan/transfer to another EPL team, he will only come to regret, like he did with Ryo Miyachi. Ryo has been playing great and i am certain that PCyoung will do the same.
Wenger always say he goes for players with good technique…park chu young has awesome technique…contradiction to the max.
