Confident Koscielny still looking to improve for Arsenal and France
Arsenal’s French centre-back Laurent Koscielny has set his sights on improving even more after a terrific run of form for the Gunners.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Koscielny said, “Like all the French players, I dream of the 2012 European Championship… I know that I need to keep being good to keep being called up. I have been in the squad a few times which shows that I’m on the good path. Now I need to work harder because I haven’t had my first cap yet. If it comes one day, it’s because I would have deserved it.”
He certainly seems confident in his ability, but not in the Nicklas Bendtner fashion. Koscielny is convinced of his performances – and he has good reason to be. His displays against the likes of Marseille and Chelsea has proved that he is an entirely new player from the mediocre-looking one that arrived at the Emirates in 2010.
After such an impressive run near-flawless appearances alongside several different partners, it seems difficult to think of a particular area in which he could improve or “work harder” in. Some might suggest that he could improve on his goalscoring rate, but there is no need to when the midfield and strikers are dealing with that task well enough. On top of this, Vermaelen’s ability to score goals does stand out from the rest so it seems unfair to compare the two players.
Now that he has proven that he is yet another brilliant Arsène Wenger find, Laurent Koscielny’s wish for a place in the France squad for Euro 2012 looks set to be granted. He is certainly the most in-form defender for his country and arguably for his team (along with Vermaelen). Can he improve much more?

I think koxh should be used for big teams(man utd,chelsea,man city) along with verminator and mertesacker should play when we play with teams like stoke and newcastle..Arsenal fOr LifE..

Koscielny has been very good, regarding the fee we paid, also as a game goes by he seems to be improving more and more. He has done very well and im sure he will only get better and better, depending on wheather he can keep his place and start most of the games ahead of Mr merts, he should make the french squad for the euros judgeing on his recent performances, however i have got to say i dont think Mr Merts has settled in just yet, i believe he has much more to offer. For the moment Koscielny is performing a bit better than Mr Merts so he deserves to start besides TV5.

I think definitely Kos will become a french 1st team player in the near future although maybe not in Euro 2012
If he could prove his abilities as a full back as well then our defense would have become much more solid
I think we need a versatile full back a strong lad who can play both left and right

It goes without being said that our team is finally a team. Business will always be a part of soccer and rightfully so. The problem is that we tend to buy players and not play them in their preferred positioning because we already have a player we trust in this position. People scream for Tevez, Kaka, Kalou, etc. but in actuality if they do not play in their preferred position and do not immediately score 50 goals in 5 matches these idiotic fans scream even more. Get real! All we need is a few back ups who play their preferred position. If we buy anyone in January/Summer transfer windows it better be people like Vert, Cahill, Pipe Dream Podolski, Gotze, Marin. And for the love of God, we’ve seen it with Arshavin; play these people in the correct position. Screw Hazard this pompous kid needs a couple of broken legs, same with Neymar.
