Diaby even looks like Vieira!
The Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has taken a lot of stick from the fans, especially since his diabolical own goal sentenced Arsenal to defeat against Man Utd, but Asene Wenger obviously has faith in him, and thinks there is still a lot of improvement in him.
The main thing he gives the team is some extra height for set pieces, and Diaby believes that it is his size that has led to the comparisons with the Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira. Diaby is not only the same size as Vieira, he also plays in the same position, and he plays for France and is of African descent. But he doesn’t believe that he is quite in the same league as Vieira just yet.
“He is a big idol for me,” said Diaby. “And I learned a lot from watching him. The way he defends and the way he penetrates defenders to get in the box – he has been a big influence.
“People make the comparison between us because I’m tall like him but I believe our game is very different. He is much more aggressive than me and much stronger.”
But he has admitted that he loves it when he is mentioned in the same breath as his hero. He said: “I am very, very flattered when people say that,”
“But to reach his level, I will need to do lots and lots of work. He was and still is a reference point for me. But he is Patrick Vieira and I am Abou Diaby, and now I need to impose my own game.
“I don’t think we can talk of the new Patrick Vieira. He played nine years at Arsenal and is a legend here. As for me, I still have lots to prove. Patrick is the example to follow, but I have proved nothing yet.”
So at least he admits he still has a lot to learn, and he still has a few years yet to reach his peak. Is it possible he could improve that much?

nope, he cant and wont grow to be our next vieira.
his style is different. when vieira was at diaby’s age, he was a lot more better than diaby now. perhaps diaby’s past injuries disturbed his progress. from my point of view, diaby is his own type of player. im sure everyone would prefer him to be our next vieira, but by looking at his consistency, he still got a very,very long way to go.
diaby can never even come close to waht patrik was… wat diaby lacks most is concentration… he is never focused and this season he has given more balls away then any other player… HE SUCKS

the most inconsistence player in the Arsenal team is Diaby.He plays well in one match & keeps messing up in the next three matches. Diaby can NEVER be Arsenal’s next Veria.

Guys hes playin well in sum games n not in othrs .. this lack of concentration is cos of his lack of exp .. sooner he’ll start concentrating bettr n play well in a string of games ..Am sure he’ll cum close to a viera if Diaby reaches his peak .. thers still sum time for him .. Back him up Gunners .. Keep faith in him .. Ryt now he can be used as a sub n also can start some games cos the squad needs some rotation .. So diaby’ll get his chances to prove his class!!
