The Burnley manager Owen Coyle was extremely pleased to have taken a point of Arsenal last night, and he believes that it could have been all three if they hadn’t made a mistake for Arsenal to score.

“At times we really could have won the game and we competed with a top side,” Coyle said.

“Arsenal are a quality team and a side who we all inspire to play like, so full credit to my group of players, in terms of their energy, desire and their quality on the ball because we created a number of opportunities tonight.

“I’m delighted with the point, and it could have been three and when Arsenal went ahead through an error from ourselves we showed a real hunger to get level. The fans were magnificent and it was a real footballing game that we’ve picked up a valuable point from.

“The point on the back of the performance was equally pleasing. Every point in the Premier League is valuable particularly to ourselves against all the odds. And we continue to pick up really good points.

“Arsenal payed us huge respect in the way they set up and we did have chances to win it. Brain Jensen also made some very good saves and kept us in the game too.”

Burnley’s home form continues to keep them above the relegation zone, and if they carry on like this they have great chances of staying up, but they need to vastly improve their away form. They have gained just one point out of 24 on the road.
